you miss understood my comment...I'd like the voting age dropped to 16...but you raise some good points...

if you're going to give them adult responsibilities treat them like adults...
once a person votes they tend to vote for life which very important for democracy to get them engaged in the democratic process.

at 18 parental control disappears and many young people don't vote and will never vote, by lowering the age to 16 and placing polling booths in schools engages each student in the process...make the voting process and civil government part of curriculum...

once young people become involved the tendency is for them to engage in the electoral process and vote for life...my kids fought me tooth and nail when I told them to go vote for the first time, they were really POed at me, I told them I don't care who you vote for just VOTE!... anyways I never asked them to again but they also haven't missed an election since, they're hooked for life...

well I can tell by your grumpy old man attitude (git off my lawn!) you'll be taking a dirt nap in the not to distant future so your opinion is worth as much as dirt...I have faith in the generation I raised that they'll leave it in better shape than your generation left it...

The generation that does not even know how to change a flat tire on a motor vehicle, or settle personal disagreements without getting the courts involved?

yeah better than the generation that needs to call IT support to turn on their tv or phone...arrogance and condescension from the soon to be dead generation is disgusting and I'm a member of that generation

do the math and add the number of potential voters 16-18 to a voters list...it's significant and they have a much different outlook than an 80yr old....politicians will need to adjust to the new voters, they have the numbers to easily sway an electoral result...

lol yeah that will happen...but I'm sure come the next election marco rubio is worried about the number of young people who are now engaged in the political process since the school shooting, many will now be voting for the first time and they're really p****d off...

I wonder how many 16 year olds could correctly answer how many branches of government there are and name them.

I wonder how many 16 year olds could locate Israel, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, or North Korea on an unmarked map.

I wonder how many 16 year olds could correctly tell you what the 1st Amendment to the Constitution says.

    Etc, etc, etc ....

JFK started it and LBJ escalated and Nixon deescalated it.

Of course they can. Never underestimate the stupidity of youth. That was where the majority of old people went wrong and how we came to have so many young people.

LBJ had pretty much the Cabinet he inherited from JFK and he tried to work within the guidelines that JFK left him through those advisors.

So also raise the drinking age, gun ownership age, military service age and age of consent to 25?

put a age requirement where those over 65 can't vote, too much senility clouding their judgement

I've seen nothing that would lead me to believe that, my experience with adults most can't name more than three or four countries on a map, and one of those being the one they live in...

Yeah, but most of the people on this forum, myself included, are political/foreign policy wonks, lol. I'll bet another pale ale that our collective IQ's are higher than those of the U.S. Congress.
