Disagreed. You're talking about one nutjob, not a majority of Americans.

The primary threat to America aren't fringe extremists, it's the opposite; apathy. About 60% of eligible voters turnout for Presidential elections about about 40% turnout for mid-terms.

    Not at all.

If not for 9/11, you'd be hard pressed to get them on board with fighting in the Middle East for this long.

They were shot at by the police, not the military.

As per usual with this sort of thing it depends almost entirely on the circumstances.

    (1) Where do you come up with this stuff?
    (2) Ok, now I know you just make it up

They weren't armed. Remember, schools are gun free zones (sarcasm).
Where did the part about overthrowing the government come from. The question was simply would the military shoot at Americans.
IMO National Guard, highly doubtful but maybe. Regular troops, no.

Max, that's the point. You are acting as if nothing has changed, but you cannot evaluate the present without know the past.

I was in the Army in 1965 at Ft Ord California and was sent to LA , we were there to protect property, not interfere with rioters. Our rifles were empty. Rioters didn't know that but the area we secured was safe. No one in my unit or any other were attacked or hurt.

Agreed about knowing the past. I believe we often learn from it too, at least as a culture since some individuals in power don't act as if they do.

Still, an institution like a state or our military would certainly learn from the past.

Good question. If the left wing gets crazy enough to try and over throw the government or start a civil war, they'll find out first hand

Agreed. OTOH, if the right wing Nazis and/or white supremacists do the same, they'll also find themselves to be in error.

Oh yes. The Nazis. .000061% of US population. As opposed to the alt left extremists who make up nearly 33% of America.

Keep on going with your fascination of the tiniest portion of the US. Meanwhile, there are ACTUAL problems

By the time the federalization took effect, 4,000 Guard troops were already on the street supporting the LAPD and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office (LASO).16 Ultimately, the Guard deployed 10,465 troops that were subsumed by Joint Task Force-Los Angeles Headquarters. JTF-LA was put together by the Regular Army's U.S. Forces Command in Atlanta which assigned 2,023 troops from the 7th Infantry Division and 1,508 Marines from Camp Pendleton. This was not much of an increase, but it was enough to put a federal officer in charge.

Once federalized under JTF-LA, the Guard was about 80 percent less responsive supporting law enforcement agencies.17 The reason was the Posse Comitatus Act, which has direct consequences for federal military forces.18 The Act's intent is to exclude the regular military forces (authorized under Title 10, U.S.Code) from domestic police activities. It does not apply to National Guard troops operating under the command of a State Governor (Title 32).19

Those are Ohioan week-end warriors. Those who actually served in our active duty forces know the difference. You should also be aware that was not only almost 50 years ago, but that it shocked the nation. Things have changed since then.

NG or "weekend warrior" as civilians call it, do currently get called on active orders. There are deployment cycles in every single unit for Afgh, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, and many others. Civilians make me so mad when they think NG or Reservists don't get put on active orders. Pure ignorance.

@9royhobbs is correct. The two who were killed were by police.

    https://www.historyonthenet.com/authentichistory/1930-1939/1-hoover/2-bonusarmy/
On July 28, on President Hoover's orders, Police Chief Glassford arrived with 100 policemen to evict them. Waters informed Glassford that the men had voted to remain. Just after noon, a small contingent of vets confronted a phalanx of policemen near the armory, resulting in a quick, but violent skirmish. Veterans threw bricks while policemen used their nightsticks. Shortly after 1:45 p.m. another fight broke out in a building adjacent to the armory. Shots rang out. When it ended, one veteran lay dead, another mortally wounded. Three policemen were injured.

Correct, the NG can be activated by the Federal government. Are you claiming that's what happened at Kent State? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_State_shootings

I retired after 21 years of service. You?

That's not what I claimed. I was refuting your "weekend warrior" comment.

I'm currently enlisted and ship for OCS in the near future.

Well, he was a humanitarian. Herbert Hoover, that is.

Here's another instance memorialized in song, where the band is promoting courage and resistance within protestors. You decide whether it's right or wrong.

A coup is a bad idea. I do not recommend them.

Not really changed then far as the people go. They re-elected Truman after the bonus Army incident.
IMO these vets should have been fed before the general population was being served. War torn men are basically more malnourished than most. Plus their terribel depression of war.

The left don't want guns right? How is it possible for them to even defend themselves in a civil war? Oh, that's right.....their HYPOCRITES!!!
