If you are allowed to view the damage done to the bases, you will surely thank God for not sitting there eating popcorn during the missile strikes.

And what kind of damage could possibly they suffer if they had the heads up.
They are not morons after all . Surely they evacuated all personel and equipment . All that happened in there was some cement blowing and dust moving.

Well Iran had to believe that by giving Iraq advanced notice, that the US would've found out, so I can't see how they could think that it would've been possible to create an illusion that they are retaliating. If they told Iraq, then the single purpose behind the missile strikes is just a show of force, demonstrating what they're capable of doing.

By admitting that they had accidentally shot down the plane, how is that them REFUTING that White House claim that the missiles were sent with the intent of not doing serious harm? Refuting would be saying clearly that, the White House is wrong - we sent the missiles with the intent of doing harm. Or something along those lines.

So what are you suggesting? That there were actually fatalities and they're being covered up?

Or it could have been a faulty missile which in the guidance system had been bypassed.

How was it not rational or safe to give advanced notice of the missile strikes in the way that they did? Who was it unsafe for? Doing it in the way that they did (via Iraq) doesn't mean that they didn't clear the airspace for a specified period of time on that day. The fact that the plane was taken out, either means that it was in the airspace without clearance, or the missile launch operations continued after the airspace was reopened, or even that some useless Iranian missile systems operator pulled the trigger accidentally. Who knows. We'll probably never know.

Why would the US need to carry out a surgical air strike just because of an Iranian strike which won't result in any casualties?
