Your are correct on both counts.

Trump is obviously an idiot, and Putin obviously has something on Trump.

He changed his mind about a solid wall because the border patrol said they would rather have it so they can see who is on the other side Sandy.

That 46 billion was offered in 2013 not during Trump's administration. Pelosi has only offered him a dollar. You just don't quit trying to trash him even when you don't know the whole story.

You two obviously are only guessing as usual. For an idiot, he sure seems to get a lot done.

Right, Putin has Trump right where he wants him. I think your reasoning is all screwed up Sandy.

That prison reform will give convicts a chance for a new lease on life.

The Urban Council act will help clean up poor run down neighborhoods and bring in business and jobs.

He signed an order giving terminal patients the right to try experimental drugs, not yet approved for sale in order to try and save lives, or at least help them live longer.

But you guys never heard any of that did you? Do you ever wonder why you never hear of anything good Trump does?

I can show you many other things he has done you haven't got a clue about, but I don't want to mess up this thread by getting off subject.

Trump's supporters are giving up again. I have no idea why they continue to support Trump. Do they know? When it comes to dialogue, they can't defend him.

They take tiny phrases out of context, change the subject, or, their favorite tactic, insult the writer of criticism, accusing him of hatred and TDS.

To be perfectly frank, as has been proven by this thread and others, those who support Trump are deranged. His fans prove that daily.

They should stop and think what they are doing.

Yes, I know, that is what he said.

That's right, Pelosi has not offered anything for his wall because it is a waste of money. The $46B was for border security and proves the Democrats support border security. Unfortunately, Trump with his infantile mind thinks his wall and border security are the same thing.

And I am proud. I’ll tell you what. I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck. Because the people of this country don’t want criminals and people that have lots of problems and drugs pouring into our country. So I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I’m not going to blame you for it.

On the other hand, Trump hasn't reduced his bid. It remains at $5.7B. His idea of making a deal is for Democrats to agree to the $5.7B for his wall.

Anything to get away from today's issues, the Trump shutdown and Mueller closing in.

I will give Trump credit for his A.G. nominee. I listened to Barr's confirmation hearing, and I don't understand why Trump nominated him. This guy is a straight shooter and he appears to be an honest professional. He is unlike anyone else Trump has nominated in the past year. He answered questions directly, how refreshing. Barr is a friend of Mueller's and he said the "Bob wouldn't get involved in a witch hunt."

"I am not going to do anything that I think is wrong, and I will not be bullied into doing anything I think is wrong," Barr told the Senate Judiciary Committee. "By anybody. Whether it be editorial boards, or Congress or the President. I'm going to do what I think is right."

Now that is my kind of A.G.

Yes, by all means, let's use medieval technology to solve a 21st Century complex problem like illegal immigration. It is quite typical of a Trump fan to think like that.

The Democrats want to use modern technology plus more aircraft, more boats, and more border guards to solve the problem at half the cost.

    What exactly is Trump's position?

First of all, we all know that Trump told a national television audience that he would be "proud" to shut the government down to get his wall.

Secondly, Trump is the one making the demand. I will use an analogy to explain what I mean.

Let's say a man comes to your house and demands $5,000 to paint your house. He explains how beneficial the paint job would be and how beautiful your house will look. You refuse to pay the $5,000. You don't think a paint job is worth $5,000, much like the Democrats who don't think a border wall is worth $5.7B.

Now are you responsible for the disagreement that follows?

    Back on topic, Trump's shutdown.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) asked Trump on Wednesday to delay his State of the Union address set for Jan. 29 until after the government reopens.

There is a good reason for this. With the exception of a designated survivor, our entire federal government will be in attendance, the President, vice-president, his senior advisors including the cabinet, the entire Congress, the entire list of Presidential succession, members of the Supreme Court, and a whole bunch of other folks. Like I said, the entire federal government.

And they will be guarded by people who haven't seen a paycheck in four weeks and have no idea when they will get one. That says a great deal about their motivation and their performance level. Would you like to be guarded by someone who is worried about his next house payment or maybe even buying groceries so the family can eat?

"I will never ever back down" from efforts to keep America safe, Trump vowed. Well, now, that's encouraging for those guarding the members of our government.

    Or not.

Wow, Nancy, what a move. Trump has met his match, a powerful lady (to Trump's chagrin) who is not about to back down.

CNN wrote a powerful analysis of this maneuver. "Sometimes the best power moves in politics are conveyed in the most mundane language."

"Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29," wrote Speaker Nancy Pelosi to President Donald Trump on Wednesday.

CNN continued, "Make no mistake: Pelosi's decision to disinvite Trump from delivering his "State of the Union" address to Congress is a total power play designed to remind Trump that a) Congress is a co-equal branch of government and b) his willingness to keep the government shuttered until he gets money for a border wall is going to have impacts on him, too.

"Just in case you missed that message, Pelosi delivered it again in an interview with CNN's Ashley Killough. "This is a housekeeping matter in the Congress of the United States, so we can honor the responsibility of the invitation we extended to the President," said Pelosi. "He can make it from the Oval Office if he wants."

"He can make it from the Oval Office if he wants(!)"

"What Pelosi is saying there is, essentially, this: Look, Trump can give a speech if he wants. But we are not giving him the platform of a bipartisan session of Congress to do it unless and until he reopens the government. (House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland went a step further in an interview with CNN's Kate Bolduan Wednesday afternoon, declaring that "the State of the Union is off.")

"And from a logistical standpoint, Pelosi is well within her rights to rescind the invitation.

"In her initial letter inviting Trump to deliver the "State of the Union" on January 29, Pelosi made sure to note: "The Constitution established the legislative, executive and judicial branches as co-equal branches of government, to be a check and balance on each other." And, when asked by The New York Times earlier this month whether she considered herself to be Trump's equal, Pelosi responded: "The Constitution does.'"

Wow! Double wow! The lady has balls. Good, this could get real interesting.

Trump is breaking all the rules, actual and decorum. The loyal opposition can do the same.

Maybe Pelosi should give Trump the measly five and a half billion dollars for the wall and she won't have to worry a Federal employee will blow her ugly head off.

You think she is right do you? Well if she is right, why have Presidents before Trump built walls and fences? Why in 2013 did Schumer offer to build 700 miles of fence for 46 billion dollars? If they don't work why were all those built and that was before we had three caravans coming to our border with thousands of people demanding in? Why try and look at the whole picture Sandy instead of your narrow bias view?

Why should he when he has the chance to drub Chuckles and Nana in public again? If Trump re-opens the Government before an agreement the left nut media and Chuckles an Nana will declare victory. Trump is proving to America the vast majority could give a rats backside if the Government stays shut down.

I never said she was right. I said this would be interesting. Why not concentrate on what I say, not what you wish I had said?

700 miles of fencing is far different from a brick wall closing off the border between the U.S. and Mexico. That is what Trump wants. The $5.7B is just the beginning of what he wants.

Besides -- now pay attention everyone -- the $43B in 2013 proves that Democrats want border security. The bill was squashed by the Republicans in the House.

Thank you again, Marine, for all the help.

So you are still going with the media hype instead of the real story. Trump is asking for what the border patrol wants. 230 miles of border barrier of the type they want of which most is to replace vehicle barriers that migrants can walk through. The democrats last voted for 315 miles of barrier so their current opposition is objectively unreasonable.

Now you pay attention Sandy. Offering 43 billion doesn't show they wanted border security. It was turned down because the Democrats wanted citizenship for 11 million people and chain immigration. Trump is willing to change it from a wall to a steel structure because the border patrol want to see on the other side. I'm more than happy to straiten you out.

Trump wrote Nancy a nice letter today. Among other things, it said, "Due to the Shutdown, I am sorry to inform you that your trip to Brussels, Egypt, and Afghanistan has been postponed. In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate."

It was a typically childish move on the part of Trump, but there are two highly significant factors related to this infantile gesture.

It is significant that Trump thinks that the leaders of our government visiting the troops in Indian territory is a "public relations event." For a President to think that illustrates how far from reality Trump is, almost as if he came from another planet. It is no wonder Putin is pleased with his protégé.

It is conceivable that the Congressional leaders could still visit the troops using commercial aviation. But that is no longer possible. Why? The President of the United States disclosed the destination of this highly secret visit to a hostile region.

By the way, Trump has never visited this hostile region.

    Putin is, indeed, very pleased.

First of all, that is just the beginning of what Trump wants. If he get his way, the next time there is a financial crisis he will demand another 500 miles and he will shut the government down again if he doesn't get his way just as he did this time. The Democrats know this. You think that makes Trump a great negotiator, and that is why you support him.

Democrats have voted for border security and fencing. Your example took place in 2013. Every Democratic Senator voted for a $43B bill for border security, including fencing. The bill was squashed in the House by the Republican leadership.

That is the real story, courtesy of the media. Thanks for the help.

You get more and more ridicules as you go on Sandy. You call cancelling Pelosi's trip a infantile gesture? Here is a woman that has condemned Trump for not putting workers back to work. Saying it was wrong having a shut down and she is so worried about the workers not being able to pay their bills. Yet instead of wanting to bargain with the President and trying to come to some agreement to put all these people back to work, she wants to leave the country and leave everyone hanging and then you want to blame Trump? Are you completely out of your mind?

That is a rather incredible statement. Personally, I think approving $43B for border security shows concern on the part of the Democrats for border security.

Wanted? That was in the bill? Prove it.

Trump changes his mind like you and I change socks. You know that. Once the shutdown is over he could change it again, back to his promise of a brick wall. He said that for three years and changed it to steel slats during the shutdown crisis. Logic dictates we stay with what he said for three years. That is assuming "logic" and "Trump" can be used in the same sentence.

That is particularly true when one is just as silly as the other. I agree with the Democrats. We should use 21st Century technology, not medieval technology, to solve a 21st Century problem
