Probably the same thing every closet Republican tries to do, avoid paying all their taxes. I never heard a bunch complain more about paying taxes then expect to suck off the tit of public welfare using all of its infrastructure and safety nets. Bottom line, the tax avoiders they complain about is code for non whites and any white with empathy.

Barbed wire, ever hear of wire cutters? As far as sensors are concerned I reiterate from a previous post. When I was stationed at Nakhon Phanom AFB in Thailand, we had sensors planted up and down the Ho Chi Minh trail. The Pentagon generals had this big interdiction scheme thinking it would an aid in stopping the supply of manpower, weapons and ammunition to the North Vietnamese troops fighting the war in South Vietnam. They were wrong. And you are wrong. Cameras? Right. Cameras can damaged in various ways becoming useless as well. And border patrol can't patrol every inch of the border at one time.

Trump, McConnell and Ryan had absolute control for two full years and chose - nay, went out of their way - to screw the useless idiots known as Cult45ers (aka: their loyal base and true believers) right in their ears. The truly pathetic part is the idiots are demanding that their sworn enemies, the Godless, commie/nazi/antifa/blm/lgbt 'Murica hatin' libruls, make it all better for them. That is damaged chromosome level stupidity right there.

Reconciliation. Last used in 2017 to pass their tax cut by bypassing the filibuster. Could have been used at any point in 2018 to completely fund the wall and Democrats would have been powerless to even slow it down. It's not the Democrats's job to fulfill broken Republican campaign promises. Remember this frakking next time. You brought it on yourselves by believing blatantly demonstrable BS.

I suppose it's too much to hope this finally sinks in...

Trump is doing a Hannity interview because the entire shutdown is a show aimed at the Fox News audience

The shutdown wouldn’t have happened without the effort of Fox’s right-wing personalities -- many of whom simultaneously operate as on-air propagandists for the president’s agenda and off-air presidential advisers. In September, they urged the president to shut down the government in order to create leverage to enact his immigration policy, only to be overcome by congressional Republicans who thought that strategy was foolish. But the conflict returned in December, when the White House signaled that it would back off its demand for wall funding as its price to keep the government open. The president’s right-wing media supporters at Fox and elsewhere revolted, urging him to reconsider and warning him that he risked damaging his relationship with his base. Reportedly “panicked” about the criticism from his on-air allies, Trump reversed course, took their advice, and shut the government down.

Fareed Zakaria writes, "Watching the struggle over funding for a border wall, I am struck by the way in which, in one sense, President Trump has already achieved success. He has been able to conjure up a crisis out of thin air, elevate this manufactured emergency to national attention, paralyze the government and perhaps even invoke warlike authority and bypass Congress. He may still fail, but it should worry us that a president — any president — can do what Trump has done.

Let’s be clear: There is no crisis. The number of undocumented immigrants in the United States has been declining for a decade. The number of people caught trying to sneak across the southern border has been on a downward trend for almost 20 years and is lower than it was in 1973.

As has often been pointed out, far more people are coming to the U.S. legally and then overstaying their visas than are crossing the southern border illegally. But it’s important to put these numbers in context. More than 52 million foreigners entered the U.S. legally in fiscal year 2017. Of this cohort, 98.7 percent left on time and in accordance with their visas. A large portion of those remaining left after a brief overstay, and the best government estimate is that maybe 0.8 percent of those who entered the country in 2017 had stayed on by mid-2018."

Mueller is closing in on Trump. Recently there have been new developments very hazardous to Trump's tenure. We have learned Trump's campaign manager revealed polling data to a Russian agent during the election campaign. After Comey was fired, the FBI opened an investigation to determine if Trump, by design or inadvertently, was assisting the Russian government in its interference in our election. Trump's personal lawyer for ten years, Michael Cohen will testify before House Oversight Committee in an open session.

It is no wonder Trump wants to change the subject just as he has always done. He manufactures a fake crisis. It is a tired old tactic and it never works.

Trump has only two choices, resign or create a Constitution crisis.

There is only one problem. Out of pure revenge, it is Trump's nature to create a Constitutional crisis. He will be a star again.

Moreover, that is what is fans want him to do. They did not vote for Trump to provide good governance. They voted for Trump to create chaos in Washington. Want proof? Read their posts.

You have thousands of people parked at our border from two caravans that descended on our border and a third being formed in Honduras that is bigger than either one here. All demanding to be let in. Our border guards have used tear gas to drive them off the walls. Yet my Liberal friends want to say we have no crises at our border. We don't need to build a wall/fence. Then why is it that back in 2013 the Democrats offered to give 46 billion to build 700 miles of fence and we didn't have thousands parked outside our border? How come Democrats were saying this?

When you have millions of illegals crossing our borders, taking our jobs, bringing in drugs and disease, and sex trafficking with kids, we have a crises on our border. When we now have three caravans on our border, or coming up on our border demanding to be let in, we have a problem on our border. Give Trump the messily five and a half billion dollars and let him seal more of it off. If we can build fences for other countries to protect their country, we damn sure should protect ours.

Seems we have a Black Democratic reverend who is millions behind in his taxes, no one is locking him up. Obama put a tax cheat ahead of the IRS, no one had a problem with that. No one is saying we love people who don't pay taxes.

Well, it seems just a few years ago, the leader of the Democratic Senate thought we have been having a crises at our border for years. Funny how it stopped when Trump wanted to fix it.

Did you miss the 14 republicans?
    Then notice what happened.

In the United States of America, the Gang of Eight is a common colloquial term for the bi-partisan group of eight United States Senators—four Democrats and four Republicans—who wrote the first draft of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013.[1] The group was also instrumental in bringing comprehensive immigration reform back to the legislative branch in early 2013.[2]

In June 2013, the immigration bill passed the Senate with a strong majority—68–32, with 14 Republicans joining all Democrats. The United States House of Representatives under Speaker John Boehner did not act on the bill, however, and it expired at the end of the 113th Congress.[3]

Bring it up again. You will probably get the same results. Except this time it will be the turtle that won't take a vote.

Fox News reports, "President Trump used an address Monday to the American Farm Bureau convention to dig in on his call for a border wall, even as new polling indicates most Americans oppose his administration’s strategy of demanding money for the U.S.-Mexico barrier in exchange for ending the partial government shutdown.

"A Quinnipiac University poll released Monday found that 63 percent of voters agree with the Democratic proposal to reopen parts of the government that do not involve border security, with 30 percent opposed. The same poll found 63 percent also oppose using the shutdown to force wall funding, with just 32 percent supporting."

30 and 32 percent? Trump is even losing his base on this issue. His base is usually between 35 and 40 percent.

That said, the poll also found that 56 percent of American voters blame Trump and Republicans in Congress for the partial shutdown, compared with 36 percent who say Democrats are responsible.

“They think if they stop me, it’ll be good for 2020,” Trump said of Democrats in Congress. “We need that barrier. … If you don’t have that barrier there, there is not a thing you can do.”

The Democrats could point out that their position was good enough in 2018. In the run-up to the midterms Trump was saying the very same thing sans the shutdown he created. The result: Trump lost the House and the Republican lost several governorships and state legislatures.

His base doesn't win general elections. Apparently, Trump has figured that out yet. As shown by polls, everything he says and does is geared to his base. They are the only ones gullible enough to believe what he says.

Speaking of Trump's base, they don't realize Trump has already broken his promise regarding his border wall. What did he say at least 200 times?

"I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great great wall on our southern border and I’ll have Mexico pay for that wall."

Only his base was gullible enough to believe that nonsense, and believe it they did. Now they can't seem to understand that Trump's promise will never be kept.

Mexico is not going to pay for the wall. What part of that statement can't they understand?

700 miles of fencing, not a brick wall, which would be far more costly. Trump changed his mind during his shutdown. For over three years he talked about a "beautiful brick wall 30 feet high." Now it's steel slats.

"All 54 Senate Democrats voted to approve $46 billion for border security."

Thank you for providing proof that Trump is lying, something we all knew. The Democratic party strongly supports border security.

Thank you. I wondered about that. I appreciate the support. As I said, contrary to what Trump says, the Democrats support border security.

Trump has a first grader's understanding of the English language. He really thinks that a brick wall and border security are synonymous.

First grade, eh? That kind of hyperbole makes you appear unreasonable. Do you believe Trump is a Russian spy as well?

And you haven't been following the news. Trump hasn't said anything about a concrete wall in some time, "barrier" being a reasonable modification of his terminology, and I can't remember his ever saying anything about a "brick wall." Maybe he did.

Let's face it, the shutdown crisis Trump created out of thin air is a distraction from his close association with Putin and Russia, an association that is being closely examined by the media, even Fox News, can you believe it. I watch Fox daily and, with the exception of Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro, Fox has no intention of escaping from the truth.

Here is a sampling of what Trump does not want you to hear.

At Helsinki Trump had a secret two hour meeting with Putin. Only interpreters were present. Trump did not trust his own SecState and NSA. Put a different way, Trump did not want Pompeo and Bolton to hear what was going on at that meeting.

Trump's advisors and American intelligence still do not know what was said at that meeting. However, we can be sure of this. Putin, his closest associates, and Russian intelligence know what was said at that meeting. Trump, for some reason, does not want anyone to know what was said. By contrast, Putin is perfectly happy to let his cohorts and intelligence service know what Trump said. Trump is entirely responsible for the weakness in the American position.

"I never worked for Russia," Trump told reporters. "It's a disgrace that you even asked that question because it's a whole big fat hoax. It's just a hoax."

What is a disgrace is, Trump feels the need to deny the charge. Imagine that, the President of the United States saying, "I never worked for Russia."

That alone says a great deal about this President. There are only two choices.

One, Trump is guilty of the charge, and like any other guilty person, he must deny the charge. Which he did!

Two, he is innocent and he is too damn stupid to just keep his mouth shut to the charge.

This is why Trump continues to exacerbate the shutdown crisis. He doesn't care that most Americans blame him. When the media is talking about the shutdown, they are not talking about his problems over Russia.

Or so Trump thinks. Problem is, it is not working. I'm not making this stuff up. My source is the media.

When it comes to Trump, I am perfectly reasonable. I have reasoned that he is a complete idiot.

No, I think Putin has something on him -- money laundering, an association with the Russian mafia, conspiracy -- I don't know what, and Trump is being extorted.

As for what his wall is made of, I am sticking with what he said for three years, not his ever-changing mind during the shutdown. At one point during his shutdown, he was willing to let the Democrats decide on what the wall would be made of.
