No where in the world does a nation honor it's traitors. Specially in light of committing treason and taking up arms after taking an oath to support the country. I can see Lee and the other generals, resigning their US commisions in protest, but not taking up arms. These generals and politicians fought for keeping millions of people enslaved. And please, Slavery was not the norm in western civilization for over 50 years which back then was a full lifetime.
Prepare for a lot of people claiming "It had nothing to do with slavery" while failing to ever address anything any Confederate leader ever had to say about the motives for secession. I've been through it a dozen or so times myself. They can't ever address primary sources, yet they will constantly claim that everyone who does rely on primary sources is somehow ignorant. We're dealing with a group of people absolutely dedicated to historical revisionism, all while having the nerve to claim that removing a statue is "erasing history." The Daughters of the Confederacy and similar groups did far more to actually erase history than has any Antifa nut pulling down a statue.
History isn't pretty. Sometimes it's a tough pill to swallow. Shut up, deal with it, learn from it, appreciate it and be grateful you live in the US.
No one removing statues or advocating for renaming anything is suggesting that we somehow change or erase history. None of them.
Complete BS. Germany has no statues of Hitler in view. Does that erase history? No one is dumb enough to believe that. Will we forget Oklahoma City unless we put a statue of McVeigh there? The reactionary right needs to grow some intellectual honesty.
Who cares about Germany. this is if you are not aware the United States. But I love how you went extreme and used a Nazi reference. you cats love your Nazi references. Do you kids get royalties?
You forgot to respond to the actual content of the post. Does Germany need to rebuild the statues and memorials to Adolph Hitler that were removed after the war ended, in order for its people to understand the history behind his rise to power and the third Reich or is it possible that we do not need memorials and statues in towns and cities to adequately teach history?
Yeah it makes perfect sense to spend the money to remove the monuments and then spend more money to replace said monuments. Wow.
But you get your history back, right? I mean clearly you can't have any sense of history without those statues and memorials of Hitler, Stalin and Lenin. We have removed it from view, so bring back into sight. That's your argument, stand by it.
Answer the question. Do you think its possible to teach history adequately without rebuilding statues of people like Lenin, Stalin, and Hitler and putting them in parks or next to the courthouse steps, so that history is not ;removed from view. Booman, grow a pair of balls. Heck grow up in general and stand by the logic of your own argument in posts directly above and advocate for those statues and memorials. Now don't try yet another dodge, and just directly answer the question.
