Whoever takes up the challenge. Why not just let the national drug chains handle it? Tell them what you want to have happen and ship them the vials. It would all be done faster than the pharma companies can make the stuff. I can't get a vaccine even though I am one of the old people with health issues. The federal and state governments are preventing that. Apparently I have to wait for government employees and minorities that have virtually no chance of dying from the virus like I do. We can do better. I'll take care of myself but we can still do a lot better.

Okay, so you want companies driven by profits and the bottom line to be responsible for getting the vaccine to people? You know what happens when supply is low and demand is high? Cost goes up. You know who’s able to afford expensive products? The rich. Know who can’t? Yep. You guessed it.

The vaccine rollout needs to be in competent hands that aren’t driven by profits. Now that those in charge are no longer incompetent, I’d expect we will see improvements. Take heart. Things are getting better.

The problem right now is that city and state governments are screwing up the delivery.

You’ve already described what you believe to be “a lot better” and to me it looks like further exacerbation of the inequities we already see in our broken healthcare system.

I agree. This requires a coordinated federal effort. It’s a shame Trump did such a piss poor job. I suspect the Biden administration will do much better.

Going to have to explain how you came to that conclusion.

    He just did.

What a contrast. Biden doing the job of POTUS. Trump asking Birx if we could inject disinfectant.

"The Kentucky lawmaker said he interpreted Biden’s call to “reject the culture in which facts themselves are manipulated and even manufactured” as an attack on the GOP.

“Well, that’s another way of saying, all of my opponents manufacture and manipulate the truth and are liars,” Paul said. “He just said it in a nicer way. But that was really the gist of what he was telling us.”

Paul’s paranoia about the perception of Republicans comes on the heels of a GOP effort to overturn President Trump’s election loss that was intensified after the former president’s supporters, among them a great many white supremacists, stormed the U.S. Capitol.

Paul made no effort to acknowledge this truth, and his criticism of the address comes after Biden’s first message as president was widely received as one of unity."

“Well, that’s another way of saying, all of my opponents manufacture and manipulate the truth and are liars,” Paul said.

No, it isn't. It's a recognition of reality. That being, a disturbingly high % of the GOP believes in what Trump has told them to believe. Many of those things are not true. Also, there is a faction of undetermined size inside the GOP tent who are white supremacists. Again, that's not speculation, it's fact.

So take it to the Supreme Court. In the mean time we have 10s of thousands of Americans dying weekly. The states have proven they can’t do it alone. Federal government needs to act.

Paul does explicitly what he did implicitly on the issue of race: conflate the Geezer-in-Chief's constrained criticism with a broad attack on Repubs generally. Biden never specifically mentioned who was telling those lies, although the focus was obvious. He never even called out the extremism he was targeting as being right-wing. But for Paul, the implication was clear: Biden thinks Repubs are racist liars.
So much for a grace period on baseless attacks.

Biden is already doing a better job. Watching Fauci now. I'm not exaggerating by saying he looks like a new man.

And what are they supposed to do? Declare martial law? They own no factories, have no production facities and are already shipping dispersing vaccines as quickly as they become available. Beyond that they are already doing everything they can.

Want to see the healthcare system become even more broken? Just turn it over to government.

I don't care if government pays for it. I just don't want it in charge of executing it. Ship it to the national pharmacy chains for free with instructions on priorities and let it happen. They will do it gladly for free. Nothing could be better than having all those people in their stores awaiting their shots. Sales would skyrocket.

How does that end up being materially different from what they would do any way?

Our current system only works for those with capital. Private industry can’t be trusted with our nation’s health as the interests of business run in direct completion with the idea that all people deserve healthcare as a human right.

Biden can use the defense production act to ramp up vaccine production and better coordinate the distribution of supplies. This rollout has been a disaster so far and any denial of that is in direct opposition to observable fact.

No he can't sorry dude but any company that doesn't have the appropriate lab isn't making any vaccine any one rational would take within the next couple of years. Anyone can retool to make respirators vaccines are an entirely different issue.

There are plenty of pharmaceutical companies not producing the vaccine that could be. No one is asking Ford to start producing vaccines.

Human privilege perhaps. But nothing can be a right that costs something to someone else. People deserve what they can earn. What someone gives them has nothing to do with deserving it. Government is the worst place to put health care. Everything government does is more expense and less effective than it would be in the private sector.
