Then, after 8 years as VP, Joe should offer a solution to these problems rather than complaining about them. Either way Joe comes out a fool.

I can't swear it was front page when I saw it on CNN, but I think it was.

Better, but still quite revealing about Biden's mindset. This isn't just a political gaffe, this is a Freudian slip, a look into the mind of a Democratic racist, who thinks a) all poor kids are black, and b) all white kids are rich. The reality is that most black kids and most white kids are middle class.

He's also wrong. Most poor kids are on the lower end of the IQ scale and are NOT just as bright and just as talented as middle class and rich kids.

"About 17% of U.S. adults between age 18 and 64 receive public assistance. Thus the median welfare recipient can be thought of as in the bottom 8.5% financially.

    Mean cognitive ability: 30 percentile of U.S. adults (normalized Z = -0.53)

It’s common knowledge in psychometric circles that reading comprehension tests are statistically equivalent to IQ tests, and a literacy study found that about 2/3 to 3/4 of adult welfare recipients (about 71%) have what’s classified as Level 1 or Level 2 literacy. By contrast, 1/2 of the general adult population are at these levels.

Since by definition, 1/2 of Americans have IQs below 100, it can be deduced that 71% of welfare recipients have IQs below 100. In a normal distribution, the 71 percentile is 8 IQ points (0.53 sigma) above the mean, so if IQ 100 is the 71 percentile among welfare recipients, the average welfare recipient should have an IQ 8 points less.

In other words, American welfare recipients average IQ 92 (U.S. norms) or about 90 (U.S. white norms)."

    https://pumpkinperson.com/2016/02/11/the-incredible-correlation-between-iq-income/

And I will add that children's IQ scores correlate to about .6 with their parents' IQ scores, so the children's IQ's can be figured to be similar to these numbers, that something like 71% of the poor population have IQ's below 100 v. just 50% of the middle class and only about 30% of the upper class.

To suggest kids are smart because they are rich and other kids are dumb because they are poor is just silly.

Middle class & rich kids have access to all sorts of tools that the poor don't. They get educated because their schools aren't **** holes. They get educated because the district can afford to pay quality teachers, more. They have better athletic equipment, better computers, better lunches, etc. They get a well rounded education.

They have far more opportunity. Take any 5-year old born to rich parents and throw him into the worst neighborhood in the country, and that kid is probably not going to test well. The amount of money that mom & dad have at the time of birth is 100% unrelated to how much potential that child has.

Having potential isn't enough; they need opportunity as well.

This is where you are wrong. Smart kids in impoverished backgrounds tend to rise up and do well despite their poverty. Dumb kids from well off parents tend to sink and do poorly despite their advantages. Ben Carson (I think) talked about going to visit relatives and his niece asked him, "Why you talk so white?" He never thought about it before because his education and intelligence had created a way of speaking in him that seemed just "normal" to him, but to his lower IQ relations, he sounded racially different. The other half of educational success after IQ is motivation, not opportunity. Motivation being internal to the person, background has little to say in this regard, either. One woman wrote a book in which she outlined the case that a child's home life, background, parents, etc., are almost irrelevant to how kids turn out. In extreme cases of physical abuse, starvation, etc., it will make a difference, but those are very few.

IQ is half the answer to success in life, too, but the other half there is social skill. Sadly, I have plenty of IQ but no social skills whatsoever.

Edit to add: I'm not suggesting kids are smart because they are rich, I'm suggesting parents are rich because they are smart, and smart parents have smart kids. Likewise with poor kids. Their parents are poor because they are dumb, and dumb parents have dumb kids. In India, where there hasn't been 100 years of public education and capitalistic opportunity, you can still find very bright kids in the worst slums, but in the US, assortative selection has been separating out the high IQ and low IQ people for almost a century now. Finding a very bright kid in the worst slums of America is tough to do.

But did he though? Given his past and the fact this isn't the first time his comments have shown the era he grew up in there's enough room for doubt. And seeing as how this is the SJW era, where any comment ever made regardless of context is enough to have your fired from your job and harassed by the mob, should he even be given the benefit of this doubt? If the answer is yes then that would be in keeping with the two tired system of judgement that Democrats live by. One standard for us, another for everyone else.

What exactly is wrong with this message?

He’s making me point poor kids can make it in America just as much as privileged, white kids.

We need those positive messages in America right now. There are plenty of examples of rags to riches stories.

Cognitive ability is a thing. My cognitive ability was far above all my brothers and now my net wealth is greater than all of theirs combined. If you are intelligent, you are going to friggin excel. Not only does intelligence give you a higher income, it also contributes to you making sound financial decisions that accumulate wealth.

Cognitive ability isn't everything though. A work ethic and passion are needed as well.

The schools I attended growing up were 5 years in a shack in the Amazon forest (I was a missionary kid), 1 year in k-12 country school house, several years in public schools and the last 2 years in a k-12 religious school with 1 teacher. It is not the quality of the building you attend, it is the quality of the your fellow students. If your fellow students aren't beating the hell out of you for doing well in school, you can succeed.

Better athletic equipment, better computers, better lunches don't mean dick. If you think they do, you have not been in an inner city school where convicts, drug dealers and daily beating are considered normal. Absolutely no learning is done in most inner city schools and it hasn't a damn thing to do with anything other than the thug children of thug parents. Ask ANY MPS teacher and they will ALL tell you say the same thing.

My wife was a school teacher for decades at MPS and the description below was 100% accurate for every single school she taught in.... EVERY SINGLE ONE. Open drug dealing, open beatings, open defiance, armed guards..... it is not a place of learning, it is a war zone. Money isn't going to do a thing.... absolutely NOTHING. Kick the bad kids out and never let them in again. Allow the kids that want to learn an opportunity. It is liberals and their friggin empathy for predators that are destroying the lives of countless black kids and removing any chance they have in life that are responsible for this. HAVE SOME EMPATHY FOR THE POOR DECENT BLACK KIDS THAT WANT TO LEARN. Go to an inner city school and actually witness was is going on in those hell holes.

When a guy can't resist the siren's song of a hot mike, he/she will eventually pay for the privilege. Joe's handlers need to keep a bucket of ice water on hand to cool the guy down.

CNN must have it in for him...
I watched the video and he had significant pause after "white kids"...and then followed up pretty quick with Wealthy, Black, Asian cause he realized his mistake I think.

Typical of CNN to use a partial quote to create a narrative. I don't think they like Biden.

How do I put this? It only makes sense if he's using opposites as examples, that people on one end of any given spectrum can make it just as well as someone on the other end of it. If he said poor kids can make it in America as well as rich kids, it works. Or I dunno, Black kids as well as White. Or Liberal kids as well as Conservative kids. Religious as well as Atheist. But when he says "poor kids as well as white kids,", he's saying that the opposite of White Kids - are Poor kids. That if you're White, you're rich; if you're NOT White - you're poor. Like those Indians working at a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts that Biden has referenced.

His message/gaffe/whatever you want to call it is actually a pretty POOR message.
