Most illegal drugs cross the border inside legal traffic. No wall will stop them.

Most criminals who come across enter 100% legally and then just stay. No wall is going to stop them.

I dont care how much the wall costs because we need it

It wont have to be 2300 miles long

Some estimates place the wall needed at about 700-800 miles

The rest of the border can be monitored by drones and electronics to alert the BP where the intruders are

Did you actually read the memo? The set up for that sentence was in the preceding three paras.

Now it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to comprehend that by justly fighting for DACA those beneficiaries are more likely to vote for the party that championed their cause than the party that tried to deport them. Ergo, an important demographic moving forward.

Exactly the same strategy Trump used with Coal miners and farmers. go figger.

Walls “can” serve the function of defining a boundary
But boundaries do not require walls.... as the boundary with canada, or between states illustrates

    Walls as statements
I think virtually the entire border with mexico already has various types of fencing... which theoretically make a statement already. I am not sure what additional statement would be made by turning existing fencing into a wall

Are walls far easier to defend?
I think our intention is to construct a barrier that is impervious WITHOUT need for constant defense.
I mean.... militaries stopped constructing defensive walls some time after the middle ages.
As far as i can tell... any wall can be breached unless there are measures in place to respond to breaching. If what we want is a breach proof barrier, there are many ways of accomplishing this objective. For example you could have two fences with sensors and a mine field in the middle. You could have armed drones patrolling the border. You could have snipers who get paid a bounty for each illegal border crosser they shoot. You could leave dead bodies rotting on the border as a tacit warning

The really funny thing is that countless immigration experts have completely discredited the idea that building a wall would have any real effect on illegal immigration or drug cartels....

1; Drug cartels have countless tunnels which run far below the groud and unless they Mexico works with us to shut those down, a wall would do nothing to stop illegal drugs.

2; There are countless entry points for illegals which are not along the US-Mexican border. A wall won't shut these down. There are several entry points in Florida and Louisiana alone, which can be reached by boat, and were used by Cubans for years.

Is mexico going to pay for the wall?
If so, let them begin construction immediately

Btw, i also do not care how much the wall costs if mexico is going to pay for it

In that case, you should be doubly proud. Most people here don't know the difference between border and boarder and they make the most asinine comments.

    No

    American taxpayers will pay

Shame on anti trumpsters who are willing to forego border security just because it makes trump look weak

The best idea that I heard is to reverse the parameters.

Mexico builds it and we pay for it.

With the wall on their side of the border, two issues are eliminated. We have no eminent domain battles, and border crashers would not be on our side of the border before getting to the wall (no more birthright citizenships!).

Plus, there is a ready supply of labor in Tijuana, right now...

lets say it is true that “we need this wall”
Lets say it is true that the wall and it supporting personnel will be effective for the law intended purpose
Lets say that because of the above, it simply does not matter how much it costs

Assuming all the above.... i have seen no reason to believe Mexico going pay for this wall
And, as far as i am concerned, there has NEVER been any reason to believe tha mexico would pay for the wall

This reality raises a few questions

Did trump ever think Mexico WOULD pay for the wall?
If trump did think Mexico would pay for the wall... what was his basis for this conclusion?
Has something changed in the mean time so that now we agree Mexico will not pay?

    Dont get me wrong
Give the wall an unlimited budget... no problem

    But i am curious
was the “mexico will pay promise” known to be unrealistic blather...
or did trump really believe mexico would pay?
Did something change after the election which now makes it true that mexico will not pay?
Or was mexico never going to pay, and trump always knew it?
Did you and trumps supporters ever believe mexico would pay?
    Did something change your mind?
If trump thought mexico would pay... does that impact our view of his judgement?
If YOU GUYs thought Mexico would pay, were you credulous dupes?

So you would rather pay to support illegal aliens? That makes no sense.

LOL since 2008 melt down more Mexicans had been leaving then coming in so this wall might be helpful in keeping them in to provide the labor we need.

Also we might be able to get the wall to earn some money by running international TV contests on how fast people could climb over the wall.

Sadly I do not think it will be as must of a tourist attraction as the great wall of China.

LOL an according to Fox our special forces can not get over the Trump walls pro-types!!!!!!

We are in sad shape if the US
special forces can not blow a hole in those walls, fired a line over the walls with a line-throwing device purchase from amazon or ripe off a crane and move it to the wall an so on.

I would say that it would be rather obvious that they werent claiming that a nuke couldnt blow a sizable hole in the wall.

    I wont be that easy

Particularly for drug smugglers with a big bag lib happy smoke on their back or 9 months pregnant future welfare bums

It will push most of the intruders to places where there is no wall

But those will not be close to cities where they can quickly disappear

Yes indeed a 30 billion dollars wall an a trip to a yacht supply outfit is likely to deal with it.

    "
More Mexican immigrants have returned to Mexico from the U.S. than have migrated here since the end of the Great Recession, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of newly available government data from both countries. The same data sources also show the overall flow of Mexican immigrants between the two countries is at its smallest since the 1990s, mostly due to a drop in the number of Mexican immigrants coming to the U.S.

From 2009 to 2014, 1 million Mexicans and their families (including U.S.-born children) left the U.S. for Mexico, according to data from the 2014 Mexican National Survey of Demographic Dynamics (ENADID). U.S. census data for the same period show an estimated 870,000 Mexican nationals left Mexico to come to the U.S., a smaller number than the flow of families from the U.S. to Mexico."

    The Pew Research Center?

    Dont make me laugh

I suspect there are at least 30 million illegal aliens living in the US but I cant prove that any more than Pew can prove what it says
