I can see your basis but your number is still drastically low in my opinion for this country. For one, you're only counting white people. And using the membership base of one website as a top end is not correct in my opinion. I still think you'd need to amend your analogy to be about the volume of the stadium, not the seating.

 

This is tasteless and insulting but it's not racism. Racism is viewing a race as subpar, not as intelligent, not as capable. And I would argue racism is seeing a person as privilaged and corrupt simply by the color of their skin.. This is a very bad and offensive joke.

 

When black you pick cotton, is a racist concept. It profoundly suggests that other ethnicities are too good for that "job".
It also makes an obvious link to how whites and jews held black people as slaves to make them pick cotton.
And your argument saying how this is not, lacks any kind of motivation.

Racism is a meaningless word any more because it's misused and mis labeled. A joke attempts to use a thread of truth. In the south blacks used to pick a lot of cotten. During slavery and after. The bad joke feeds off that. It's not labeling all blacks as cotton pickers....obviously that doesn't happen.

In my opinion progressives are truly racist...assuming blacks will always be victims regardless of their choices and holding them to a lower standard. "Progressives" want laws based around that attitude. They label people by color and not by actions. A dumb joke does not compare to laws based around the concept that blacks aren't able to succeed unless they are given lawful privileges offered by white rulers. That's racism...keeping people down by saying they have no control over their lives or future....because they are black.

Yes, I was only considering white supremacists. And who knows, you may be right about the volume. That still doesn't add up to near as much as so many lefties claim. If we're talking about ALL racists from every race also then I'd increase all of that to a total of 1, maybe 2 percent of the population.

Except that there is no evidence provided that they have spent hours talking with students about this case. And a "massively suggest" is not the standard. They have to prove that it WOULD compromise safety at the prom. That is the requirement of strict scrutiny. The ONLY part where you might have a case is the school probably did make a general effort to curtail racism. But that alone is not enough to strip the kid of his 1st Amendment Right.

It was suggested that only the staff has some kind of handbook to comply with.
The actually first highschool I looked up ends up to have a handbook for students as well.
So you know.... bye bye idea that students have no handbook.

So what. I wrote:
It's about a school event, so the school got something to say about who is welcome to their own event according to their code of conduct.
It's not relevant that things happened in their own time. People get fired all the time for not representing the values of the business outside the office all the time as well.

Sometime, kids need to be told to quit doing stupid stuff and think a little bit. That would have been an appropriate reaction by the school. All else would be an over reaction.
It didn't hurt anyone, didn't bully or harass anyone, wasn't aimed at particular individuals, wasn't a threat, didn't fail to follow rules concerning lessons, the writing of papers, the use of computers, or other online school activities. Didn't breach school security devices. This clearly didn't violate the SC's guidance.

Pointing out a historical thing or stereotype is much, much less racist than what Obama's preacher was spewing.
