No, to fake something like this is not that easy to do. Sounds like it was pretty emotional and intense. If you don't think things like this happen, and frequently, you're living in fantasyland. Me, and others have been through it. Google "parents assault gay son" and look at all the articles that come up.

Of course. Homophobia is bigoted and offensive, and a video of gays being "abused" must be real. Bigoted and offensive attitudes towards Christians however is a different story, and a video of THAT is probably staged by right-wing christians to make gays look bad.

But we could explore that. The federal government spent $13,000 per person last year. Only about 1 in 20 families who pay taxes, pay more than $13,000 per person. So it's a fair guess than no one in that room is paying for the lifestyle that they're living. Who's paying to allow that guy to use a cell phone *shrug*... probably some guy in California or New York.

Since homosexuality is defined by attraction and attraction is not a choice, I don't see how sex or choice matters in this regard at all.

 

It is on youtube. Whether contrived or not...is relevant. If you don't believe this happens all across America in good Christian and non-Christian homes, would classify as delusional.

 

Not denying that things like this do happen, but the accent is all off. I've lived in the South my whole life, and that accent of the woman at the start of the video does not sound real. The things she says sounds like stuff I heard on Big Bang Theory a couple of weeks ago. I just don't buy it.

I don't see anything wrong with them kicking him out--he's 20, and if he wants to live a way his parents don't approve of, it's his right to do that elsewhere. They don't have to support it. (They could also kick him out for having sex with a girlfriend if he was straight, or for sitting around doing nothing but playing video games) Having a homosexual sexual orientation may not be a choice, but withoug a doubt, acting on that orientation (or any other) is a choice.

 

He wasn't quoting real science--then again, the mother wasn't real--she was a parody of Sheldon's Mom from Big Bang Theory.

I don't think that kicking out a kid who does actions you don't like qualifies as forsaking. I would never kick out a son for being gay, unless his actions were disrupting the household, but I'd be kicking him out for the actions, not the homosexuality. Same applies to a straight son.

 

The "mother" was quite clear. What "people believe". What's got me head-scathing is--If she figured out that Daniel was gay since day-one...how would she imagine others did not as well?

Did Daniel not coming-out officially make him invisible?

Just like the bible...instead of trying to disprove or prove its literal word...how about taking the symbolism and over-all message to heart.

forget whether or not the video is real or just bad acting, maybe some boys felt that their dad did not pay attention to them or worse, wasn't around. They may be looking to fill that void by engaging in gay sex.

 

He better hope he's in a state that allows for surreptitious recording of individuals without their consent.

I believe some kids act out and put on fake persona to become someone else, if only in their imagination, to escape reality. From Goth to skater to nerd, and, yes, even to gay, it's whatever. If you're honest about how confused kids can be, and how they do the most desperate things for social and cultural acceptance, it's reasonable to include gay in the list. Cultural norm now is for gay acceptance. These kids know that more than their parents.

I don't care how many people try to convince me that no kids want to put themselves through the hell of coming out. Sorry, this is 2014. Things have changed and gay is cool now. If it isn't cool, it's different, and different is good enough for a messed up kid.
