I like Trump, but I hope he doesn't run again.

    I agree.

There was an interview Trump did with Fox News about why he did not fire Fauci. Trump essentially said that he did not fire Fauci because the left would have been angry with him. We can't have people kowtowing to the left. Additionally, Trump, before leaving office, pardoned and commuted some unsavory people. Kwame Malik Kilpatrick and rappers are examples of those types of people. Matt Walsh had a good analysis on this that starts at about 23:04 in the following video:

A kingmaker, Trump should just give DeSantis his blessing for 2024.

    DeSantis 2024.

The point is, those jobs would be ok, if they paid a living wage, but they didn't. Much less support a family. Most low wages and no benefits.

I wonder if the GOP will try to block things so Trump can't win? And how would that look?

I agree but for different reasons. Trump supposedly lost the election in 2020, and I think this is due to his pardoning of whistleblowers. There's too much bad blood.

I think you should give a strong endorsement of Ron DeSantis and back out.

As said in other posts, there is no such thing as a candidate that the Democrats wouldn't do anything and everything to destroy.

BTW, it was someone else's suggestion for a non-Trump candidate, not mine.

He should consider having the exclamation point be legally affixed to his name, for the lulz; but I assume that he probably would rather forget that election, and he might have some PTSD from how he was manhandled in the 2016 primaries by Trump.

Jeb's interview with CNN looked like a therapy session, for goodness sakes:

I do wish Trump treated Biden the way he treated Jeb in the 2016 primaries, such as using the phrase "excuse me" every time Biden interrupted.

But he lost that mojo that he had in 2016.

I am more disappointed in the behavior of my own government than I was of Trump... I really have seen how low this deep state can go.... they have no bounds and no one is held accountable, even with documentation and evidence...... because the prosecutors will never prosecute the prosecutors.... may I repeat Schumer's comment... ""the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you"" and they sure do use it.

Trump didn't lose his MOJO. He was trying to win people over who were so sensitive as to not like his mojo.

    I disagree.

Biden started interrupting in the debates, and Chris Wallace enabled him, but Trump could have resorted to "excuse me," dismissing Biden's interruption, continuing with his point, and making Biden look weak. Instead, to me, he lost his cool, instead of treating Biden like he did Jeb. In my opinion, it would have been more palatable to the general body politic to use "excuse me," throw some jabs in about Biden's mental health and the fact that he hides in his basement, than to respond to Biden's interruptions with interruptions, which allowed Chris Wallace to portray Trump as unpresidentially interrupting.

Nah, Trump could have dunked Biden's head in the toilet like he did Jeb! He didn't because he was trying to get more of the suburban women vote. Apparently some folks are uber sensitive and cannot handle it.

Trump is authoritarian without knowing how to do it.
It's sometimes very fortunate for America that Trump is so damn stupid. :)

Well, he failed miserably in that regard. Also, I don't see how by interrupting and losing his cool and tweeting the way he did he was trying to court suburban women. In 2016, it felt like he threw zingers with grace; in 2020, it felt he was just gracelessly throwing the kitchen sink in desperation, which made it easier on the media and Biden to portray him as unstable and desperate. He should have stuck to his 2016 strategy. To me, effectively courting suburban women would require being a polished politician with wit, charm, and jokes that are palatable but effective.

I'll tell you what: if he does run again, and there is a dance-off, I may be tempted to vote for him, as opposed to DeSantis, in the primaries.

It is interesting that Trump supporters never factor in the last year of Trump's Presidency.
It would be like someone saying that the first year of the Obama Presidency shouldn't be counted because bad things happened ...

    Whatever.

In which year of Obama's presidency did China unleash a virus that catalyzed Democrat governors to shut down their economies, skyrocketing the unemployment rate?

Sigh, in 2016 he wasn't courting them. He still received many, many legitimate votes while Biden got more phony ones.

I don’t think Trump could win if he did run in 2024. It wouldn’t take a week or two in front of the cameras for Trump to remind independents why they disliked him so much. Only 41% of independents voted for him in 2020 while 48% voted for Republican congressional candidates allowing them to gain 13 house seats. 51% of independents voted for Republican senate candidates, 52% for Republican governor candidates. Like Youngkin in Virginia, another republican could win the independent vote where I doubt Trump could. Biden won Virginia independents in 2020 57-38 over Trump, Youngkin won Virginia independents 54-45 last November. A swing of 28 points, from a minus 19 for Trump to a plus 9 for Youngkin.

Then as you pointed out to a certain extent, it wasn’t his policies that defeated Trump. Independents were split on them, for some, against some. It was his obnoxious, rude personality. His childish antics like name calling and throwing temper tantrums along with his 3rd grade schoolyard bullying tactics. I saw a bumper sticker last year, all it said was, “ADULT 2020.” Everyone knew what that meant. It was Trump himself, the man, the individual, the person independents didn’t like. Not his policies. History has shown folks usually won’t vote for someone they dislike.

I think the Republican Party needs to be reminded they’re still the smaller of the two major parties. Hence, they must win the independent vote or lose the election. Trump isn’t a candidate that could attract independent voters. But who the GOP nominates is up to them? Who knows, Trump may get lucky and have the Democrats nominate another Hillary Clinton. That is up to the Democrats to decide.

Not a rant, simply an observation from the point of view of the world as it gazes in horror at what once was the United States of America.

Gibberish like this is rewarded on the right. The rest of us just sit like customers at a circus laughing at the clowns. I have to admire the effectiveness of right wing media for decades when I read something like this from an adult. I suggest a detoxification for you, move to Europe and return as a human being.

I want the next republican to be a true patriot who respects the ballot box, to have a sense of decency, towards others, and to have a conscience - a sense of what is right, and what is wrong. Every single other republican who reached high office has had at least a modicum of respect for the institutions of democracy - even Nixon has at least a thimble full of common decency.

The guy is a total ****** narcissist and everything he says, does is about him and only him. The country is not safe in his hands.

I agree I've said the same thing myself in the past. I like Trump and I've always said that I live vicariously through him because Trump is probably the closest thing to having myself as President. More often than not when he made headlines for some comment he made I would both shake my head in shame and laugh at the same time thinking "haha that's some crap I would have said too if I were President". As entertaining as it was I am able to recognize that's not exactly good though.

My only concern is the extreme hyper polarization of this country nowadays and the Left's tendency to associate ANYBODY right of AOC as radical worthy of eternal damnation by any means necessary. I just don't know if it even matters anymore, I feel like no matter which Republican runs they will get the Trump treatment because it's been proven to work. The ousting of Trump from the White House was a collective effort by pretty much the entirety of mainstream media and entertainment. It was even openly admitted by these people earlier this year in the Time magazine story. At the end of the day Trump isn't exactly an upstanding citizen that makes me proud as the representative of our nation on the world stage, but he was also nowhere near the literal reincarnation of Hitler/Anti-Christ/Satan that the media portrayed his as either. When virtually every major communication/media/entertainment outlet is controlled by the same ideology then they can paint any narrative they want and stick it on somebody. And one of the focal points of that particular ideology, whether they will openly admit it or not, is the fact that they believe their end goal is justified so any actions taken towards reaching that goal are also justified in the eyes of that ideology.

I am willing to be open minded and fair and hope that I am wrong. But if the Republicans run a different candidate in 2024 and the media and entertainment industries give them the same "Trump treatment" then I'll say screw it. Find me the most die hard red blooded Conservative American walking this country who will alienate half the nation and makes Trump look like a puppy and run them in 2028. It wouldn't matter anyway at that point because they media is going to paint whatever picture they want regardless.

Amazing hogwash from the people who gave us the Brandon administration, the largest collection of misfits, liars, con artists and incompetents in political history.
