Yes you may have heard more than me. And I could be wrong. Have not heard one since Nam. I only did 6 years in the service. But it sure didn't sound like a semi to me. An auto has an extra sound to it, IMO.

 

Trucks have been proven equally as deadly. Did you rally to ban trucks?

 

What I heard sounded automatic. It was too fast to be semi auto. And the cadence was mechanical, exactly the same after each pop. I don't know, maybe he altered a semi auto to fire auto? I heard it could be done.

That makes no sense whatsoever. Guns and country music go together like biscuits and gravy. Furthermore, country music is neither political nor cruel or controversial. The shooting makes no sense....yet.

Sounded like it to me, but another guy here claims it was a semi and he is certain. My money says he will be wrong, and I would bet some money on it. I agree with the cadence. An auto has a particular sound to it. While you can shoot a semi almost as fast, it is not as fast, and as many rounds as this guy shot, he would have tired and slowed down. So I think the other poster here is wrong, and yet he is so certain, since he has heard more auto rifle fire than me. Let us see who can tell a semi from an auto.

 

This is one of the few rational posts in this thread. My thinking goes along these lines. Looks personal rather than political like say the Bernie shooter. Doesn't look at this time he cared who was out the window and being a former employee he'd know concerts are held there.. He'd know everything needed.

Was the shooter an NRA member? If he was a pro-gun activist, then he wouldn't have wanted to demonize guns in such a fashion.

Civilians can own machine guns but they would be registered with government. Expensive though. Not enough info to know.

 

Well the long application doesn't have a place for an individual, only a business. That guy I knew back in the late 80s wanted one, but the only way he could get one was to be a licensed gun dealer. And he became one, just so he could own one. That is the extent of my knowledge on it.

 

Only need to be a dealer to own one manufactured after 1986. Any machine gun before that can be transferred.

 

Faster than the BAR I once shot. But it was slower than some, like an UZI.

 

The facts will come out in time. Paddock checked in on Sept 28th, and took his time setting up his machine gun position. No question this was planned. It is possible that he just wanted to shoot randomly on the Vegas Strip, but when he saw a concert full of people stationary and packed together directly in his line of sight, it was too good to pass up. However, I think it more likely he planned to hit the concert.

 

Makes sense. This was after 86 when the guy became a dealer so he could own one.
