No not really; and by that I mean that even the average leftist gets tired of hard core SJW memes rammed sideways down their throats when they have paid relatively big bucks for an hour and a half of escapist entertainment.

What the printed -- and now the moving picture -- elements of Marvel have failed to grasp is that leftist SJW crudola have got to make logical sense and 'fit' into the general theme of the established character and his or her background history. It cannot be SJW stuff for the sheer sake of making the leftist Hollywood crowd swoon. It has to make sense for the average movie goer plopping down some 'hard earned' for the purposes of . . . e-n-t-e-r-t-a-i-n-m-e-n-t.

But all that aside, yes; this is the movie segment's effort to go WFO (wide full open) leftist SJW in nature, and it's going to end up costing them big time in the long run.

Meh...I don't really see any overt political leanings myself. I'm not saying there aren't specific undertones, but it's benign enough for me that I hadn't really given it a second thought. Infinity War had a good story line, lots of action, and lots of big actors in the same movie so it was fun. But, is it really a surprise that Marvel movies do have liberal undertones? I mean, the whole of the movie industry is flagrantly liberal so it's not like this would be some big revelation or anything. Like someone said above. If you don't like it don't go watch it.

It's foolish to think Marvel and DC comics, among all the others, never had political or societal leanings brought up explicitly in their comics.

Jeebus, what do you people think SuperHEROS are in the first place if they are not the very embodiment of the whole CONCEPT of the SJW of their era. Superheros were in the JUSTICE league after all, not the Conservative's Cadre or the Leftist's Union.

The old comics were quite free with racial, ethnic and social stereotypes and I don't recall there were any non-white faces in them BUT Captain America never gay-bashed anyone in his life and Supes would give any construction workers who harassed Lois a stern talking to that would probably have put them in the hospital just from the wind.

The superheros of TODAY function as super embodiments of TODAY'S morality not that of the 1950's most of our conservatives seem to still be living in.

I'll put it another way. Does anyone remember Collections Man, that erstwhile champion of the banking industry, who went about throwing people out of their homes? He's really rare because people destroyed the comics and eventually lynched the artist [/satire]

The reason print comics are falling off is they cost as much as paperback books and don't offer even a quarter of the content a movie can. Spider Man in print just can't compete with SM on the screen, I don't care how good the artist is.

Comics are falling off because comic books are stupid. If you are a young whippersnapper and have the choice between reading a comic book, phone or tablet game, portable console game like the Nintendo Switch or 3DS etc. guess which one of those is the least interesting and interactive. Hell I can play Telltale games which are interactive comic books so why the **** would I bother with something that hasn't changed since the 1930s?

Its part of the culture war.

Do you just not believe their sales are down?

Its a discussion board. And why does the majority have to lose something they love to appease a minority?

I didn't respond to this earlier but I should have and I'd like to know is this your first MCU movie you watched? Because none of this makes sense.

Yes, I agree fully with you on all of your points. It really hasn't been overt, and even the small sneaky SJW stuff isn't really relevant. Having a black MJ for spider man isn't that big, definitely not as big as if MJ was a man. Even if they are going to have Cap Marvel be the ultimate hero, I really don't think it will be that big since we all are suspending reality and when that happens, a female can be the most powerful being and taking the savior role from Adam Warlock (male). It is just a discussion here about how miserably Capt Marvel comic series has fail vs how the cinema is putting her into the role of savior and whether this will have the cinema version fail. We've all been open to women heros before, from Aliens to Resident Evil, so just having a woman as a hero wont "kill" the franchise, just as it didn't kill Black Panther.

That post was to get the discussion going. Only movie I haven't seen yet is BP since I really haven't had the money to go see it in theaters...(someone else paid for my ticket to this Avengers).

No its not, it’s just a private business manufacturing and selling goods and services to their consumers for profit.

    Nope

Write an angry letter to Marvel in red ink if it bothers you that much

Someone who believes in the gender pay gap, patriarchy, and everything the cops do to blacks is racist. Also, someone who looks for consent before changing their babies diapers.

There is a pay gap based on Gender, that is mathematically proven, for the most part the world has been a Patriarchy, some cops are Racist but not everything cops do is racist, and diapers need to be changed.

Really, I would like to see those numbers showing women make as much as men on average in the work force for the same job. I am always open to be shown I am wrong so that I can be right in the future.

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-gender-pay-gap-is-a-complete-myth/
    Summary
Men are far more likely to choose careers that are more dangerous
Men are far more likely to work in higher-paying fields and occupations (by choice).
Men are far more likely to take work in uncomfortable, isolated, and undesirable locations that pay more.
Men work longer hours than women do.
Men are more likely to take jobs that require work on weekends and evenings
Even within the same career category, men are more likely to pursue high-stress and higher-paid areas of specialization
    .

Here is a fun fact: Despite all of the above, unmarried women who've never had a child actually earn more than unmarried men, according to Nemko and data compiled from the Census Bureau.

These are SJW sites. They don't say why men and women earn more, they just talk about feelz. None talk about how men go into STEM fields while women CHOSE to go into sociology type fields like day care or teacher.

Pew is also going off unverifiable responses. They are also doing a generalization of all men vs all women, as my link shows why its a feelz type argument.

So this is a opinion piece based on things a Marty Nemko said back in 2011. Now it seems like this Nemko guy is a very educated man but do you happen to have any numbers and current articles? I dont know if we should base our opinions on the word of one guy without supporting documentation. At least with Pew you get a methodology. I dont expect you to go out there and find stuff for me. But perhaps for yourself to better back up your position since it flies in the face of current accepted research.
