I'm 56. Not sure that qualifies as old. Don't really care either. I've had decades of dealing with pubertoids to come up with any number of comebacks to them.

To be fair Boomers aren't just completely innocent folks who voice no opinions towards millennials either. Yes many millennials tend to blame every bad thing in the world on their parents generation but Boomers do often say things to millennials and other younger generations that frustrate the crap out of people.

The job thing is probably the biggest one. If I were a degree holding young person seeking employment and a boomer said to me what I hear them say pretty often then I think I'd get mad too.

But the whole climate change thing that people are trying to pin on boomers is a load of nonsense. Modern society that folks live in and enjoy is what causes climate change. Folks tend to ignore the fact that all of the stuff they love in society is damaging to the planet and this stuff was being thought of and invented with the advancement of technology through generations. Without previous generations "killing the planet without mercy" then this modern world we live in with Iphones and Starbucks' wouldn't exist right now.

The hypocrisy of people is hilarious. People will drive their car to the air conditioned cafe, order overpriced coffee, pull out their laptop, use electricity and wifi, and type on the internet about how the planet is dying and their grandparents and parents are garbage human beings because they helped created their ability to do all of these things. But they're drinking out of a paper straw so they're doing their part for Mother Earth....

Well, seems to me that anyone who carries a gun getting coffee carries it everywhere else and FOR anything else. And as for the last one, hoo-boy are YOU in trouble with the "I Hate Joos" crowd here. Oh, and the "All you got are memes" collective. In any event, you can see how the modern usage got it's start HERE. Hint: You might wanna watch "Fight Club".

I notice you didn't seem to have ANY kind of acceptable retort, so yeah - what I have is certainly better than what you've given the forum. Unless you're suggesting just take it? Yeah - no. Also, if some millennial can't take an insult, perhaps they shouldn't throw them around.

And with some luck you will live long enough to be called fricking old by someone whose prefrontal lobe has not fully developed. Takes bout. 25 years of life to get there. Until ones brain is fully developed.

Children should be seen but not heard as the greatest generation used to say.

If she graduated in '98 or '99, she might be a millennial.

Do it now given I am in my 70's. Ha ha

My dad died at 65 and some of my friends died young.

I am hoping you live long and prosper.

Old age aint all it is cracked up to be but better than dying young.
With that said, youth is wasted on the young.

    That's just plain silly....and untrue.

I doubt anyone with a brain sits around and hates an entire generation.

It's as stupid as old timers saying, " Harrumph! Things were perfect back in my day".

Rolling an entire generation into one ball and saying everyone in it is exactly alike is also stupid...

I think the goal of past generations was to have their kids of the next generation be better off than them. Sadly, I don't think that's happening today to the same degree as in the past. Today kids, instead of learning a trade or getting a useful college degree, they're getting useless degrees or getting involved in extreme activism on issues they can't control. I'd be curious to know which generations most of our homeless people come from.

I don't think it's necessarily as cut and dry as that. Yes I agree that many kids today have a skewed view of the world and how it should work which is why Bernie and Warren and co are as popular as they are, but many of the struggles kids endure today really are different than in years past. I have plenty of friends who have legitimate degrees in something that isn't Art or Womens Studies who are struggling to find employment in their field. Many years ago when I was working at a restaurant quite a few of the waitresses had Bachelors or Masters Degrees. Some were working there to supplement their income, others were working there full time. Now granted I don't know their whole story or what was going on with them, but having a Masters in Social Work and working full time waiting tables is concerning.

There are plenty of young folks out there who are doing the right thing and are still having difficulty. I live in a pretty expensive part of the country, not by choice I was sent here by my job. I make pretty good money so I'm obviously just fine. I get bored sometimes and browse local job ads and whatnot and it's alarming to me what's available here and how much people get paid. I've been here for awhile and while riding around I just don't see very much industry outside of construction work or mining. I asked my local bartender about this the other night, we live in a place where a normal dinner for 2 at a regular restaurant will run you 60 or 70 bucks for bar food. If you want a steak or something then you better be willing to shell out over 100. How the hell does anybody afford to actually live here who isn't well, "me"? Her response was "They don't, they're poor".

There's quite a bit of that around the country. I'm not saying younger generations are all innocent and many aren't actively playing a part in their own lot in life, but many of the challenges these kids are facing really aren't the same as in years past. Everything is getting more expensive yet these young folks don't necessarily have the spending power their predecessors had. Even with many decent paying jobs available the qualifications often times are pretty ridiculous in my opinion. As I said I get bored sometimes and browse jobs. I have multiple high skill qualifications and years of experience and when I read about the ENTRY level qualifications for similar careers to mine even I wouldn't qualify half the time. I can certainly understand the frustration many of these young folks may be having. If I resigned from my job right now after many years and tons of experience and qualifications I would have a hard time getting a similar job that paid even HALF of what I make right now. Yet these kids are often expected to meet these entry level qualifications at 22 years old fresh out of college for the ability to earn like $30k per year.

It's a tough world out there.

I thought that Millenials (I'm one myself) don't like Baby Boomers because they spent forward in other words they got all the wonderful government programs and spending and left the bill to future generations (i.e. Millenials). Not only that but then they have the nerve to tell us that those things won't be around when it's our turn to need them, like social security, pensions, whathaveyou. :(

You're a bit older than me. Serious question - what will YOUR response be if one of these kids says "OK Boomer" to you?

Based on your posts here I can't imagine you would go easy on them.
