actually after looking at this, I'd rewrite the title to say "Independent advantage grows"
If we had open primaries in FL i'd have been an independent since 1984.

I really wish we had a viable third party, I think they would destroy the insanity that we see on the right and on the left.

In all my years as a Boomer, I've come to understand that there is only one alternative to becoming one of the old folks, and all the mockery you put old folks through in your youth, you will endure in your age. When someone mocks me for my age, they probably wonder why I just look at them and smile.

I can remember people my age complaining about not having jobs and not being able to use their education because the old folks wouldn't retire and move out of the way.

oddly, most of us complain about 'elitists' running our lives, yet in every position for decades we've elected elitists... hasn't been a true 'blue collar' politician that wasn't on 'the take', ever, hasn't happened yet...

I learned the capital punishment method. My pops was a solid Alabama Gentleman and he demanded respect, gave respect and most of all demanded his Boy had respect for their elders..

I still remember the lesson to this very day ;)

Ha! Same here. When I tell the stories, people think I was abused. I learned to never talk back to him because there was some kind of wireless connection between my mouth and the back of his hand. He was hardcore military. I learned to not talk back, keep my mouth shut and hands at my sides in public, do the job right or continue doing until it was right, and to make my bed tight enough to inspire R. Lee Emery.

That's one thing about people that have spent time in the military, they are always above average in the politeness category..

yep, I have never understood why some republican want to kill social security, I can only think they are young, cause most older conservatives I know love the program

medicare in my opinion does not go far enough, it should cover everything but the co-pay and include dental\hearing and eyesight

    You're right.
I suspect that people who are routinely hostile and abusive to other Posters are not only small, angry and unhappy individuals in person but also hostile and aggressive drivers because they enjoy the same anonymity in the safety of their car that they enjoy behind the keyboard of their computer.
In other words, I suspect that the same people who engage in "Forum Rage" also engage in Road Rage because of that anonymity.
Take the "tough guy" from behind the safe cocoon of his car or keyboard and he's as meek as a kitten.

we have a me me me President, I guess a President for the times

I do agree with you though, times have changed, I notice it even when getting glasses or something that used to seem like people cared, now it's just get you in and out, no real.. service

this could also be people are paid less as so much is corporatized nowadays

and rent\utilities is so high, I can not imagine how hard it would be starting out nowadays

And Gen X is now in charge of many corporations, makes up a large percent of entrepreneurs, and has serious buying power today. To utter the nonsense that they have done nothing is ignorant.

This generational fighting is BS. And it happens every time. You quote the don't trust anyone over 30 was BS then just like it was BS what they said about baby boomers then. The only thing future generations are guilty of is being young, and that's not a crime but a GOOD thing. Youth may lack experience, but they are also willing to try new things. That's vital for society. So maybe all generations should just lay off and stop being so conceited about what they think they know and start working together for the long term good.

yes, as I've stated before, I'd vote for any 3rd party candidate with a pulse, and that includes house, senate as well, It was embarrassing to vote for Johnson in 16' he's a dork, but not as embarrassing as it would have been to vote for donald or hillary.

FWIW I liked johnson's vp, Weld for what little I knew about him, there wasn't much of a need to research johnson/weld, they were just protest votes but right now I think we'd have been better off if 65 million agreed with me on that vote instead of 9 mil. <its a start!

I wish we could just Hijack the Independent voters already registered and give them a candidate, instant recognition with the voting block, hold primary's, get national attention. I'd swith my affiliation right back to Ind immediately and I honestly think 10 million would join me because so many of us are incredibly frustrated with the partisan crap, if we even had 5 or 10 independent senators (real independents) we could turn the senate on its side, 30 house independents would force them all to learn how to get along.

The good thing, of course is that when you reach our ripe old age, we no longer care what people think of us. We chuckle at their scorn.

I think your right about generations past but not the millenials. Other gens like babyboomers were indoctrinated in college, as soon as they grew up they blew all thatt liberal indoctrination off. The millenials are the first generation to be indoctrinated from kindergarten right on through college, their pretty much shot.

The generations after them are being indoctrinated to be transexual in kindergarten they arent going to know what they are, who they are or where they are by the time they get to college

FROM James Lilecks, MPLS Star Tribune , 11/4/19:

"""... which makes , "OK, Boomer" just another tiny blip inflated to zeppelin-size proportions, puffed up by people who need something silly to fill the maw of contention, outrage, division, and tribal alliances.
    Altogether now : "OK, Internet".''"""""
