What years did you work for Rutgers? You certainly seem qualified.

Any boss who says anything negative about any of his employees' political beliefs on Twitter does the same thing. You have a right to say what you want on Twitter. Your boss has a right to let you go. She has tenure, though, so she's not going to get fired. Tenure protects conservatives too.

That does seem to be the standard these days.

"You absolutely did this. You are to blame" isn't just 'something negative' when "this" includes 60,000 dead people.

And I never said she should be fired. I just don't think students should be forced to put their academic future in the hands of someone who accuses them of responsibility for a global pandemic. Doesn't leave a lot of room for objectivity, to put it mildly.

Yes, I can see your point. What she said was very extreme.

You seem concerned about people in power creating toxic environments. Does this extend to Trump? Have you complained here about his constant lying and divisiveness? I can't say I feel too welcome to be in a country where the President calls people who won't vote for him "human scum". And that's just Republicans. The things he says about Demcorats are terrible. Aren't you concerned?

It's amazing how libs often project....blaming Trump supporters? It's not Trump supporters fault that the Dem leadership in NYC, NY State and NJ were so horrible and ignored all the warning and allowed over a 1/3 of all Chinese Virus deaths to explode in their region.

Bing search 'trump human scum' results in Trump calling some FBI investigators 'human scum', not all 'people who won't vote for him.' I do think those investigators could make a case for hostile work environment if they wanted.

    edit: ah, you mean
"The Never Trumper Republicans, though on respirators with not many left, are in certain ways worse and more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats. Watch out for them, they are human scum!"

Typically big R refers to the Republican Party, not voters. Though I would agree this was too extreme or at the very least poorly worded.

For example, when ppl say the DNC, I don';t extend that to include all democrats either. But I'm sure other people do, and I do wish Trump would use less ambiguous language.

I am an Army veteran. I put my life on the line to protect peoples right to speak freely. I don't approve of anything PC. Americans have the right to say what they want. While I do take umbrage to what she said, I will defend her right to say it with my life.

Yes, that is a disgusting divisive comment for a President to make. You weren't, apparently, outraged by it, like you were by this professor. You didn't even remember he said it.

You can basically see my point: by ignoring the President's divisiveness (and a President is much much more powerful than some university professor, and this is just one comment I remember. I'm sure I can find a dozen others), you open yourself up to hypocricy charges: "divisiveness for me, but not for thee".

Trump responds in kind. He is not kind to those that attack him with fake news or those seditious insiders that try and take him down. The left is blind to their own irrational behavior.

I recognize that FBI investigators, being essentially subordinate to the President, could potentially have cause to claim a hostile work environment as a result of such comments, in the same way that students could for this professor (although the students are much more directly subordinate to the professor than the FBI to POTUS).

Neither voters nor elected officials can make that same claim vs POTUS. The relationship isn't even close to =.

TBC, I'm not 'outraged' by what she said. I don't think she should be fired or the school should be forced to take any action against her. But I do believe any of her students that are Trump supporters now have cause to demand to be placed under the guidance of someone else and/or are due some sort of refund or replacement of classes where her obvious bias, intolerance and likely discrimination may or may have effected their academic progress.

It's a distinction without any difference. I can leave a class or a job if the environment is hostile. If the President thinks I'm human scum? What am I supposed to do then? Leave the country?

A divisive President is much much worse than some divisive professor. Of course you would agree with this. What else is there to debate? Whether Trump is divisve? Again, of course he is.

    This is a thoughtful take.

Though I'm guessing her line of study is mostly Trump-supporter-free, there must be a few.

It's interesting to consider what the school might do were this an older white male professor saying "F*** each and every Obama supporter," and during Barry's reign.

    It's an important distinction.

But again, how would the school react if Post 70's situation pertained?

She is an idiot and a racist. No doubt she has people who agree with her surface level analysis. This is what our professors are these days, leaders of a mob, not critical thought.
