Having lived in 5 different EU countries I have seen neither states nor media promoting the EU. In fact it is completely ignored in education and most media love bashing the EU. Politicians love to blame the EU for all their ills at home so who is doing the brainwashing?
If anything it is the opposite.

Just look at a regular Brexit voter and how uninformed they are about the basic functioning of what they hate so much.

 

The NATO mission ended decades ago. Europe can defend themselves. Trump is going to reach out to Putin. Life goes on.

That is incorrect. Russia has so far invaded Georgia and Ukraine. And the EU is next on their list after they are done with Ukraine.

It is possible that by providing military aid to Ukraine, we could keep Russia bogged down there for some decades though.

An independent European council concluded that Georgian forces attacked civilians in Ossetia and that Russia merely responded to this aggression.

As for Ukraine, that "country" ceased to exist in any meaningful sense after a rogue faction of nationalists overthrew the democratically elected president in a putsch. Can't really "invade" a country that doesn't exist.

So you see, if one actually examines the facts instead of propaganda, you will see that there has been no Russian "invasions" of any countries since the end of cold war. The USA, on the other hand, has been invading and bombing countries one after the other. So if you're truly concerned about rogue nations who wage wars of aggression all over the world, you should probably look in a mirror.

We will no longer be defending Europe. Thanks to Trump, we'll be making big bucks with Russia and staying out of the EU business. About time!

 

Your discomfort with nuclear war will not prevent the US from destroying Russia if they attack NATO.

No one is fooled by KGB propaganda that Russia isn't invading the countries that they are invading.

If Russia tries pushing similar denials when they invade the EU, we won't be fooled then either. If Russia attacks NATO, we will nuke both Leningrad and Moscow.

While I can't predict exactly what Mr. Trump will do, I think the likelihood that he will abandon Europe is slim at best.

He'll surely pressure them to step up and provide more of their own defense, but that will only mean that Russia will have even more forces parked on their border.
