As usual you make accusations but give no support for those accusations.

I can draw you a completely valid parallel between Nazi Germany and the USA if you like. There is nothing loonie about it.

What is loony is making accusations but giving no rational to back up those accusations. What on God's green earth is the parallel that you think is invalid ?

 

The only ones in a position to decide on the moral equivalency between Nazi Germany and Washington are the Yeminis, Novorussiyans, Syrians, Libyans, Palestinians, etc., who have been bombed, burned, tortured, hacked, starved by those we support. It's not you or I or anyone else. So how about asking them instead of resorting to ad hominem attacks?

 

Nonsense, the only ones to decide on the moral equivalency between Nazi Germany and Washigton are scientists and historians and none of them finds even remote resemblance between the two, the overwhelming majority see them as the opposite - Nazis as pure evil, the US as a force for good (some mistakes notwithstanding), Russia as not nearly as bad as the Nazis but on balance a backward, aggressive, bullying and mentally sick entity, hated, feared and despised by all its neighbors who know a thing or two about Russia.

 

That was an observation, not an accusation.

I can give you a completely valid parallel between Swiss cheese and the Moon, they can both be yellow. The parallels between Nazi Germany and the USA are still nothing but pure lunacy.

 

Uhhh, and who are those scientists and historians... you haven't mentioned any names? And saying Russia is hated, doesn't make the US less hated by the world, nor does it make Russia less loved by the world.

 

Calling something lunacy doesn't make it lunacy, except in the mind of the person saying it.

 

The immigration lines to the US are endless, people in Africa, Asia, Europe, South America are waiting for years for a chance to move to the USA...Your buddy Pronin who came from Russia to the US on an Israeli visa, who hates the US and Israel still somehow sticks around in Virginia, does not he? No one on the other hand wants to move to Russia, not you, not even Pronin who does not speak English. People vote with their feet in favor of the US.

The parallel between Nazi Germany and the US, between England during WWII and Iran during the war in Iraq in the OP. My point is that there is no parallels between them, none whatsoever and people proclaming these parallels including but not limited to Dr. Chomsky are lunatics.

 

When old Noam finally passes, the US will have lost the last truly intelligent, rational voice of the left.

He's absolutely right to call it what it is: Orwellian propaganda of the most insidious nature.

But what he doesn't understand is that the true master stroke is the fact that the vast majority of the American population neither knows nor cares about what is happening.

Kim K's rear end is far more interesting and important to the vast overwhelming majority of Americans than what the government is feeding their feeble minds and why.

The very last thing Chomsky is, is an idiot. He has not been debunked on almost everything. There are several seminal books he has written, not least "Manufacturing Consent" and "Necessary Illusions". His "What Uncle Sam Really Wants" also remains a classic. These were written at the time when there was very few other writers were taking on the establishment.

But I agree that he has held some strong views on certain topics that he has later changed. People don't like that and have accused him of being a left gate-keeper. On the other hand, perhaps people should give him credit for publicly admitting he was wrong - especially with his high public profile. That takes real courage in my view and demonstrates honesty.

The UN was principally founded by the nations opposing the Axis powers during WWII.

By the way, I didn't vote for NATO and don't want my taxes channeled to them because they don't represent my democratic position. But there they are anyway.

 

Or when the US invaded the obviously highly dangerous Grenada and vetoed a UN resolution that would have condemned the US for a flagrant violation of international law.

Or when the US invaded Panama, causing international outrage and resulting in a UN resolution condemning the US for a, yes, flagrant violation of international law with a vote of 75-20 in favour of the resolution.

 

I'd rather they weren't.

But the point here is the PR play with the US making it seem they are something they aren't. By any measure of accuracy, that's called deceitfulness.

 

The U.S. pledged to create a more secular democratic form of governments in the M.E. and specifically Iraq. Unfortunately, world criticism of the Bush administration coming mainly from the left, caused the subsequent election and administration to pull out of the M.E. and specifically Iraq. I hope voices like yours become stronger because I want the U.S. to completely ignore the rest of the world. You know what would happen? Environmental regulations would be lifted and the U.S. would become self sufficient. So...go ahead...And good luck with that.

 

Or when Russians at UN denied that they were deploying missiles at Cuba ...
