Perhaps the unwillingness of folks in DC to value the Sec of Ed, should be justification for pulling funding to the local DC schools or better yet, the dismantling of the Dept of Ed. We seem to have agreement, conservatives don't like federal intervention, and now, looks like liberals agree.

    Win win....

"It is unclear at this time if Secretary DeVos was able to enter the school building through another door, or if the plans for the day were scraped altogether."

    Melodramatic lies.

I'm pretty sure we're in none of those countries.

The CREDO report clearly shows that US charter schools are magnitudes better than public schools, particularly for poor minorities.

What do you propose as an alternative to the above?

Just think of them as illegal aliens and I'm sure everyone will feel ok about it.

We can afford to arrest protesters once we deport some illegal aliens currently in jail. Strange, I don't remember you ever asking how we afford to feed, house, and supervise those people.

Oh, you mean countries that have a lot higher white population than we do. Gee, what a coincidence.

They'll be the first ones to immediately start crying victim when you defend yourself, too. These people push and push and push and push, then kick and scream when you push back.

Why is that? Because Ms. DeVos is not a member of the teachers union?

Shame on Democrats for their continued acts of childhood behaviour in Congress.

I'm defending freedom of speech and freedom of movement. Conservative or Leftist, it doesn't matter.

When you apply our basic freedoms only to people you like and approve of, we're through as a country. It's scary that this basic principle seems to elude you.

Wrong. Data is all over the board. Additionally, charter schools do not entice top talent, are not held to any real standard, and are just a cash grab.

    Again, I repeat.

Why is Finland's system, which is so much better then ours, outright ignored by the right?

Because it totally dismantles this "choice" bull(*)(*)(*)(*) they promote to steal wealth from the public, and inject religion into the classroom.

That's why, and there is no other reason why.

What nonsense! She wanted to see the worst public schools in the nation first and they are in DC. The fact that these "protesters" are happy with the status quo, shows how these schools churn out ignorance. Unions are the WORST. Why are union run schools in DC so bad? It was suggested to Obama since he was pro teachers's union, he should send his kids there. You can see the confidence he had that they would be educated....

Glad you feel that way. If you favored Trump's picks, I'd start to worry.

The Democratic Party hijacked and perverted the original definition of "liberal" long ago. It's one of the reasons they lost the election. You might want to look it up.

Regardless, it would be helpful if you could remain on topic. This is about another episode of Leftist political intolerance and the implications for our country moving forward. Thx.

Europe still has a much higher percentage of their population as white than the US. It's funny how diversity loving lefties always look to Europe as a shining example for us to follow.

Yup, pick your poll. I think the jury is out, some charters are better, some like the ones ms Dev is supporting are a disaster. And this is even when they can pick and choose their students

You didn't say that's what you were defending. My crystal ball is in the shop. As far as denying basic freedoms to only people you like, that's this administrations move.

I do not live there so I can answer with the real reason, but my belief is that they expect more out of their children and the people that educated them than we do. Our schools have gotten to teaching what the worst student can handle instead of the best. No matter what people say, we are all NOT created equal. Some are indeed smarter than others, but instead of teaching to excel these, we are teaching to help the others pass.

We as a country have chosen mediocrity of education over excellence in education that would leave some behind.

Oh, and many parents today don't support their children's school or their children's school work for crap.
