This might be a little off topic, but its' a question I've been asking for a long time and never got a serious answer.

I've been all around this country and every place I've been to there is a person who says axe instead of ask. Now I know white people have hang ups about certain words; when I lived in So Cal some people pronounced Washington as Woorshington, and in the North East some people pronounced toilet as terlet. But those were regional, the 'axe' thing can be found all over the place.

Anyone know why?
