    When the web is untangled and the all of the dots connected at the conclusion of the investigation, we might very well find out how this meeting ties into the bigger picture. At that point in time it might prove to have been part of an illegal action.

    It's the President's job to negotiate treaties and speak with foreign leaders. There are only two elected offices in the federal executive branch and of the two only the President wields executive power. The President alone holds this plenary power.

    There is no bad optic here. The President is functioning as the Constitution intends and stipulates, as chief executive. The office of President isn't a committee.

    The White House later said that the translator who accompanied Trump spoke Japanese, not Russian, and that was why Trump and Putin spoke through the Russian translator.

    Derp. I asked for proof that it was common for Presidents to do this, and you post some idiotic link about what happened in their meeting and the quote from an anonymous "senior administration official" and a recap from Ian Bremmer. None of which have anything to do with my post.

    You Trump devotees have got to brush up on your reading and comprehension skills. But I won't hold my breath. My cat has better comprehension skills than most Trump lovers do. And my cat wouldn't be clueless enough to blindly follow a reality TV star.

    Yes, for the cynical. Trump was accompanied by a Japanese translator. Which not only explains why Putins translator was used, but also illustrates that Trump hadn't intended on directly addressing Putin at dinner. With as many witnesses as were present, and the likelihood most would be interviewed by their respective press corps, secrecy wasn't an option. That's really my last word on it. If something that supports your suspicions comes to light, please make me the first to know.
