I agree, though it does suck for the employees that their employer is pushing their beliefs on them

why we need public health care options

What if you have a business run by Christian Scientists where most Medical Treatment at all is against their beliefs? Should employees be forced to pay money for a medical plan consisting almost entirely of prayer?

Simply refusing to add birth control to their insurance plan is not "pushing" their beliefs on anyone. If that is "pushing" to you then gays "push" their gayness onto others whenever they talk about themselves being gay in the work place. (just using your own logic there)

Show me a single Christian Scientist that does such. I won't hold my breath while you try and dig some single anecdotal incident up.

they had to specifically ask the insurers not to cover it, as all insurance plans covered it prior, the insurance price is higher, they have a right to do it, but it's still wrong to force ones beliefs on your employees

I used to shop there occasionally, not anymore

What you have posted here shows a lack of any understanding of science at all. Is this a serious question?

Absolutely creationism should have a place in our education system - and as a priority -along with other religious education as religion is an important feature in society - one that has great effect.

Do we all not wonder where we came from - as many have throughout the ages - and here is what they had to say ... da da da.

Under the near east flood story section - it should be taught that there was indeed a massive flood which resulted in the creation of the black sea round 5000 BC ... but it didn't cover the earth - but to humans living in 5000 BC - it would have seemed that the whole earth was covered .. and it whole earth as these folks knew.

This story is hugely important.. This story was passed down from generation to generation .. a memory of the past . Cultures in other regions of the world also have flood stories - which makes sense given the rise of sea level after the last ice age .. Plenty of submerged cities we have found .. all over the globe.

The Genesis Flood story was believed by everyone in the near east .. everyone in the known world at the time really .. Mesopotamia ... cradle of civilization. This story dates at least a far back as 2100 BC - it was the Sumerian belief - These later branch off into two main groups after the end of a dark age around 2000 BC Babylonians and Assyrians .. both believing this same story .. along with the Canaanites and everyone else in the region .. even the Israelites.

Abraham was from Ur - The God of Abraham was El - - don't take my word for this .. just read about abraham in the encyclopedia Brittanica . = not disputed in serious circles.

But this makes sense given the "Most High" "Creator" "The Father" "God who dwelt in the Mountain" to everyone was El .. not just Abraham - but these people also believed in a myriad of other Gods .. numerous sons of El - of Which YHWH was one - according to Deut 32:8. Where El allots the nations of the world .. each son receiving a portion .. YHWHs portion being the Nation of Israel - but that comes later.

Abrahams big decision is to worship only the Most High - only that God.

In any case - this was the story that everyone in the near east believed .. in one form or another. The Sumerian tales are far more detailed and interesting - and Genesis was contained within.

When the OT was put together during the time of Persia after 500BC- -a version of that story - that everyone believed in .. was included. Every reputable religious text had some version of this story. The folks that chose this version had little connection to its ancient past .. memories of a big flood that happened - attributed to God's wrath. and the story grew over 1000's of years.

    Any questions ?

I should have been more clear, leave that stuff in the home, churches, history, and religious ed classes. It should not be in the science classes. Full stop.

Speculation is a basic part of science, being even its very soul some argue. The Big Bang is a textbook example of a hypothesis, being backed up by observation of the Universe as it is and mathematics. Creationism is backed up by nothing but a Bronze Age Myth. I think that is the only real way Creationism should be taught, as a very good example of how we ought NOT to think scientifically

I brought this up as an illustrative example. Health care plans should cover all medical procedures with the only criteria being whether the procedure is medically sound. The same goes for all services offered to the public by businesses and people purporting to be licensed medical personnel. Religion should have NO place in what services such people offer. If your religion prohibits you from practicing your profession in the way your profession prescribes then you should find either another religion or another profession, or simply do both and stop pushing your private beliefs onto everyone else.

Just because someone or some make believe group issues an "agenda" that does not mean Uncle Joseph will follow since he has his own.

Of you are assuming that the article you posted is real but with the track record of many pro Trumpocity fans here and out there I will not bet a nickel on that.

America's values have always been based on a belief in a single God, not one particular religion. It is why "In God We Trust" is printed on our money.

How about offering creationism as an elective and let students decide if they want to take it or not? I do believe all students should learn about our environment and the universe. Although I believe in creationism I really enjoyed my astronomy course as well as biology and chemistry in college. The universe is expanding faster and faster so I think of earth as a space ship and the people on earth as astronauts. Not only does earth spin at approximately 1,000 miles per hour, it moves around the sun at 67,000 miles per hour and moves further out into the universe at 183,429 mph and going faster and faster all the time.

In God We Trust was added many generations after the US was founded.

Some of the founders were religious but belief in the supernatural was purposely left out of the constitution outside of saying that people should be allowed to believe in whatever they wish.

That does not mean our “values” are based on one god, as doing so would be impossible — the dozens of interpretations of this one god stand in stark contrast to one another (and ignoring the obvious that all gods were spoken for by men, who are fallible at best)

There was no Global flood that wiped out all land creatures 2100-2300 BC - with minor corrections however - the story can be made to better mirror reality. Better put would be that it is the literalists who are the problem as there was a big flood in the near east around 5000 BC - from which the Black Sea was formed .. and to those people - the entire world was flooded.

This still leaves the problem of the Biblical timeline which is obviously off. Humanity - and every other land species - did not spring from a pair of animals or a few humans .. noah and kin. we have continuous civilization through this time period and the period after .. Sargon was busy uniting the city States in Sumer into the worlds first Empire in 2350 ..

Your religious liberty ends at its ability to effect others lives who do not participate in your religion. Government has a responsibility to remain entirely neutral on the matter. As far as the government goes, there should be no such thing as religion. Religion should be a purely 100% personal commitment of time, resources, and advancement.

Personally, I dont even think the government should bestow any preferences on marriage at all. It should be a purely 100% religious issue, and have no bearing in taxes or court.

You wont find evidence of it atm because its illegal. Thankfully. But what if it werent illegal? Should they have the right to demand employees fore go health care in favor of prayer?

Just as all people should be protected and treated equal, all religions should be protected and treated equal. It isn't any simpler or more complex than that!

Agreed, but the government also should not support or promote those who are anti-religion on the matters of religious freedoms.
