You, sir, should take your reasoned and logical thoughts elsewhere. There's no room for that here. ;)

I'm a fan of what is now termed pro mods. Retro look and modern mechanicals. My current favorite is a C10 with an LS3 heart transplant, Tremec 6 speed, advanced multilink suspension, and wilwoods. Stops, hauls, corners, and still looks like a beater pickup.. Interior is all updated leather. So fun....

I have to wonder how much the load carrying capacity is reduced on the semi. It has to take a **** load of very heavy batteries to move a loaded truck 500 miles. Then there's the fact that many if not most trucks are now driven with teams and average 1000 miles per day.

The speed sounds great but I'll sure miss the growl and roar and vibration of a real motor

    Nice :)

I'm down to two bikes one old and one fairly new, old 09 GMC 4x4 stock with a gun rack and a A.R.E topper so my yellow dog doesn't get wet "He stinks when wet" a Focus and my fav GEO Metro four banger. The garage is full of work related stuff and the wife insists on her half so my bikes sit in a shed and truck and car sit in the drive covered in snow at the moment LOL

An electric truck wouldn't be any heavier due to weight restrictions but the weight of the batteries would take away from the weight left for cargo which would add to the cost of moving freight. Less freight per load means more dollars per ton to move it.

I had to build a pole barn to put all my stuff in so my wife could have her tidy little garage all to herself.

    LOL

It's really stupid for Progressives to attempt to claim ownership to technological advancement.

Let's not get too desperate to legitimize the ideology.

Oh ya 455 :) My wifes dad was a mechanic back in 72 he had an olds with that plant, even stock that bitch ran :) One time my wife then girlfriend was on her horse and these two *******s in VW BUG drove by and called her some nasty name and her brother ran home and told her day. They had like a 15 min head start when he went all balls out to catch them, and that he did like lickity split, well you know :) Anyway they wouldn't pull over so he simply back off 10 yards and hammer down and drove up the beetles ass destroying their engine and final their nasty mouths hahahah..

Like the olds, they were both bad ass's :)

I live a few miles down the coast from the Ports of LA and Long Beach. Sadly, I get front row seats to the millions of container loads being brought in from China and other Asian countries. Every one of those must be shuttled about and staged. They are experimenting with electric port tractors to do this moving. I can see where a Tesla Truck could work in such an environment.

However, there is still a ways to go for transition to long haul. Those trucks can rack up 1 million miles. Could a Tesla truck pull that off? Time will tell.

Short haul and the ability to charge overnight is more feasible but the batteries weight would still drastically reduce cargo carrying capacity and the extra draw on the grid of recharging these massive battery banks in fleets of trucks would be enormous.

I totally agree. You touched on the elephant in the room.

As California is dismantled by ideologues with no brains, I marvel at their insanity. It's as if the left hand clutching propaganda doesn't know about the propaganda the right hand is handing out.

California wants to lead the World in environmental action. No power plants, all renewables, don't touch natural land, build massive solar farms, save the condors and eagles, build wind generators.

The calculations for the increased demands on the grid resulting from the policies the left is pushing is staggering, yet, they are doing very little about it. California has seen "gains" in capacity as new efficiency standards are forced through, but the demand that could take place on the grid should the millions of cars suddenly need to plug in, would darken the West Coast.

Any business will weigh up the costs of fuel/wages to time taken to deliver.
