Clinton was trash and she lost to a reality TV star. She can try again in 2020, if shes still kicking. Move on with your life.
Absolutely, it is a felony. And it should be followed up when he has left office. Even if he has broken campaign finance law. My interest is the attack on America by Russia and Trump's role in it. I see no end to the lawsuits and possible indictments that follow him when he leaves office - but the Russia connection is the one that puts America at risk.
All true and well said..... Most of us don't follow the daily lives of former presidents (except the Birther crowd), but Trump will remain in the news long after he takes the Chopper of Shame out of town. That's the way he would have wanted it...
Indeed...but I think he isn't going to like how he is remembered too much. I can't think of anything more agonizing for an egomaniac...to have his name be asterisked in the history books and spending his golden years in a cell.
Hmmm... Will Donald Trump ever do a single day in prison?? I tend to think he won't and frankly, I'm not sure I'm thrilled to have even this d-bag go to prison, as a former president. I'm not a big fan of prison for non-violent offenders as a rule, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment for an appropriate punishment. We are really going to have to think outside the box here, but it's gotta be financially related... Here are some recent articles on the concept, although all are obviously pre-Mueller https://observer.com/2018/12/president-trump-really-may-go-to-jail-for-the-rest-of-his-life/ https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/could-trump-go-to-prison-766787/ http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2018/12/mueller-sentencing-memos-michael-cohen-trump-2020-prison.html
He may well spend time in a cell......Congress and the next POTUS will weight the crimes and damage he has done and decide what the American should know and what should be held from then for the national good. Personally, I hope he sees the inside of a cell for a while.
They posted facebook ads. And Podesta's password was "password". Literally, you can't make it up. It wasn't by any means a sophsicated attack. It could and should have been prevented. For starters, the DNC should have its campaign files separated from candidates, only to be accessed during the election period. Just that alone, and I averted the Russian "attack". And there's no more risk because Congress has mitigated the man(as has he himself) by any imagination. It's over. He's weaker than Bush, he's weaker than any POTUS since President Carter. Anything that he does that will be both remotely controversial/and or controversial, will lead to his immediate impeachment. The worst thing he could do, as a going away present would be actually attacking Russia. You think we're ready for those can of beans?
Simple....The FBI doesnt need them. I’ve explained that many times in on this board. And they also know that once the FBI has them, as evidence they can be subpoenaed by Republicans in congress. This is nothing but political fodder
I see far more interference from Russia than the hacking and fake facebook ads. I truly believe that Trump is in bed with Putin...or rather, he's in Putin's bed. And that's where I have fear for the country.
It may not be as a result of his presidential tenure - I think the gloves are off and the combs are out with respect to his finances, and THAT'S, most likely, what will land him in the pokey!
If incarcerated, it will be financially related I'm pretty sure. As for alternative punishments, I agree, they should be financial. And, unlike many who believe in his financial prowess, I believe that if he was drained of his finances and forced to start over with nothing, he'd be hard pressed to ever be able to afford a Big Mac again. Once he becomes a pariah, which I believe he will, he won't have anyone helping him...he'll have no wealthy friends or people who want to associate with him as a former potus.
If he does go to prison (I'm not suggesting he will), it should have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the next POTUS or Congress. Congress has a role in impeachment - that's it. POTUS should have nothing to do with the DoJ, other than appointing some of the top people. Trump has made every effort to politicise the DoJ, FBI etc etc. The next POTUS should reverse that trend, and say, "I am not going to get involved in any criminal investigations or prosecutions, with Trump or anyone else. I want the DoJ to be impartial and independent. They will do their job and I won't interfere."
Problem with that, you "see". But seeing is perception, and everyone's perception is clouded. By either his innocence and/or guilt. Impartiality in this case has proven to be nearly impossible. I don't see this great Russian interference. In part because a lot of these same things, I would have done. I would've withdrawn from Syria because I can't think of anything more stupid than 2,000 troops we can't reinforce, for an enemy we either won't be able to defeat or the bigger 'enemy' laying in the horizon(Russia/Assad) that we're unequipped politically and morally to deal with. I disagree with Trump on Afghanistan, and when the EU finally ceded to demands for a true free trade agreement, I would've signed said agreement. If given the proof of Russia's interference, I would've spoken harshly against it. I even think a strategic argument for the destruction of the Russian State is possible. But it's not flailing our arms in Syria. That's far from strategic. At the same time, the negotiations with North Korea was an endeavor worth pursuing. Peace before war. Strength in our diplomatic position. The North Koreans refused our diplomatic advances. That means the sanctions should be immediately applied, and we should strategize every possible contingency including attacking their nuclear facilities. I do not think the photo op significantly strengthened Kim Jong. It more strengthened us. The international community cannot say the US didn't try. We tried, and the North Koreans refused. Now if we're forced to act in our defense, we will act.
Believe me, ARDY, if the damage from this dragged-out spectacle on the international front were merely 'entertainment' for our opponents, it wouldn't really matter. Putin and Xi could laugh and make fun of us, and it wouldn't mean squat. But what's so devastating is that while our two major political factions are literally tearing each other's GUTS out, Putin and Xi are enlarging and refining their own national agendas, taking advantage of the vacuum that is created while we are obsessed with our own internecine hatred and warfare. After all this, we'll end up seething, bloody, and full of even more hate for each other... but our opponents? At the rate that the Chinese "Belt and Road" initiatives are succeeding amazingly, and with Russia forming even more solid, profitable bonds with Europe (plus a very powerful, growing military alliance with China), by this time two years from now, we'll be exhausted and miserable, but both China and Russia will still be laughing their asses off at how easy it was to literally take over the entire Eastern Hemisphere while we stupid Americans stood over here and clubbed each other to death....
Of course it isn’t. The FBI absolutly wanted the servers But as I stated before, they didn’t need them for the investigation which is why they didn’t subpoena them to be brought in as evidence. Thats what gets lost in this debate every time. The FBI could have forced them to bring them in, but they didn’t because they knew they didn’t need them.
yeah yeah, but isnt that trumps temperment, he likes a fight, it energizes the base. I mean look at the current wall “negotiation”. Basically, trumps idea is you give me all i want, i give you nothing.... then we have a deal I gotta say, so far it does not sound much like trump has a problem with putin.... they seem downright chummy . Yeah, but the sad reality us that politicians do not run against the ruskies am the only one who has noticed that our recent rhetoric has basically been pretty hostile to europe. Generally, if you want to have friends you should act..... ummm.... friendly. And if you act like your friends are not worth the trouble.... then it would be unsurprising if they look for other friends....yoi know? Yeah but again, trump has cut loose eastern hemisphere friends too.... saying japan shoud take care of its iwn defense... basically trashing all trade deals. If you want to gave friends, naybe it is a good idea to BE A FRIEND... rather than only looking at your own narrow best interest
