The Foxconn deal ended up costing WI voters a lot of money ($4.5 billion in subsidies, largest subsidy to a foreign company in US history), and it ended up hurting Walker. And Foxconn will be exempt from paying taxes in WI. This is what happens when the government tries to run things. Trump even insisted in picking the location of the plant himself. Also The voters punished him for falling for Trump's "deal". Maybe the new Gov will cancel the whole thing.
The worst thing that happened last night is that the people in the deep state who tried to throw the 2016 election are going to get away with it.
55 House race endorsements by Trump. You are free to ignore anything you wish. Does it make sense to you that he would be campaigning in Florida for DeSantis and Scott and NOT promote the House candidates at the same time?
a grid lock is never a good thing would be much better if both sides learn to compromise a bit or occasionally give something in exchange for something else
Well - no denying your "crude" comment is correct but honestly - if a Blue President acted the way Trump does you would be screaming bloody murder. Then of course - after calling out "crude way of debating" you can not resist throwing in an insult heh heh .. Mr. Pot. With that out of the way - we are in agreement. Red Establishment seems to be doing everything in its power to cater to the extreme. I have stated a number of times that if Red was stop its "ban abortion" rhetoric - this alone would make it difficult for the Dem's to win. Relax on the anti gay/anti poor/ - pro Xenophobia rhetoric and IMO - its lights out for the Dem's as they would then be the only extremists in the room. The strange thing is that GOP Establishment knows this. These are not stupid - they know what the polls say and thy are very aware of the demographic time bomb. Yet - they continue hammer on the above "hot button issues" - the issues which help to keep people divided and thwart expansion of the base. This is how you know that something is rotten in the State of the Union. They are "intentionally" (and Blue Establishment does this too) keeping these hot button issues alive.
To be honest, there is no winner in any of this. The Dems take the house, Republicans hold Senate. What's going to happen is the House will do their investigations, and the Senate will pull their own investigations...and Congress will stall until 2020 and both sides will pretend to have made progress. I fear this will be the most 'do-nothing' congress we've ever had.
For liberals this is a win because it brings the trump agenda to a halt And if trump is defeated in 2020 dems ultimately could have every item on the socialst agenda But thats a big IF for libs to bank on
That's the game these days. Oppose everything across the board, and wait to control everything, and they push through the agenda. GOP did a poor job passing their agenda. No immigration bill, no healthcare reform, no infrastructure, no getting spending under control, no banning of abortion. Most of the things they complained about for 8 years they did nothing about.
The GOP still controls most of the government. If the Democrats think winning the House and losing the Senate is a victory, then they need to understand how government works. Ah yes, the "investigations" into Trump will now kick into gear with the House. But then the Senate (Republican) will investigate those investigations. Our Congress has become useless.
Maybe not. I do hope that the Dems use their oversite responsibility to conduct investigations into corruption in a fair and transparent fashion. However, if Trump is smart he will quit his silly demonizing tweets aimed at Democratic leaders and reach across the aisle to try to get bi partisan legislation passed regarding healthcare, infrastructure, immigration and border security. If he does and GOP leaders work together in both houses with Democrats to get this done, he could easily be re elected in 2020. However if he keeps up with the name calling and lies, it will be a couple more years of nothing constructive getting done by congress. The ball is in Trump’s Court.
House can investigate until they are blue in the face. Just remember what the Senate has priority over... That's why I'm saying this is a useless Congress. NOTHING will come of this, IMO.
Uncovering and rooting out corruption is a good thing. This new Congress has not even been seared or sworn in. Give them a chance.
Absolutely. I'm just giving my prediction. The house doesn't rule the government. There's a Senate, a President, and a Supreme Court. The Dems won the house which will inevitably investigate. THEN, the Senate will investigate their investigations. How do Americans think this is actually going to end?
Of course it is a victory, because now they are in position to oppose GOP agenda. No one is under the impression they will be able to pass bills on their own.
Absolutely. Why do you think the Congress approval ratings are always so low regardless of who is power.
It depends on what the findings of these investigations turn up. Mueller will no doubt turn in the result of his investigation soon. Then we will see what, if anything will happen in that regard. After that, perhaps both houses of congress and the President will try to work together to enact some positive leglislation in regards to prison reform, the idiotic drug war, healthcare, infrastructure, immigration and border security. That would be great for both parties and the American people. All things are possible and as a leader, it would be great if Trump can put aside all of this petty name calling and actually lead. In other words, take the high road.
Ah yes, the Mueller investigation. I too am finally ready to see this. IMO, if ANYTHING important were to come of this, it would have leaked before the midterms. But yes, I am looking forward to that chapter closing. Trump can't work with Democrats in Congress. Not because he doesn't want to (which he doesn't) but because they will do everything in their power not to work with him. Do you remember Congress under Obama? Remember how frustrated he was? Get used to it. We got two more years of a do-nothing Congress.
