I'm betting that Trump's total incompetence as a politician and a national leader is going to become a whole lot more apparent to Republicans who have been purposely blind to the fact so far, as Trump is suddenly faced with a far less amenable House. Trump may howl and rage on Twitter, but suddenly his constant empty boasting will be cast in a new light as he disappoints his cult policy-wise. No WALL, no Obamacare repeal. His terrible economic policies will likely begin to drag down the wonderful economy that Obama had left him, too, as the effects of his irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthy and his "easy" trade wars begin to hit home.

The Republicans had a strong economy to help carry them in this election. It's probably the number one factor that kept them in control of the Senate and kept them as many seats as they have managed to keep in the House.

Especially when they had a strong economy to run on. Odds are that conditions and moods will be considerably different in another two years.

I would call it a Blue Tide. There is no excuse for Blue to be losing. Look how close things were in some of the Texas races ... TEXAS for god sakes. The only reason Blue is losing is because they are a bunch of losers. No plan - no coherent message - nothing to "Vote For" - although they did tone down the "do nothing but bash Trump" tactic that was part of why Hillary lost. .. Big Deal.

The Dems have everything going for them. They have demographics on their side. The majority .. the people .. are against most of the Red Platform. Abortion Restrictions, Defunding planned parenthood, Elitism - wealth redistribution to the rich, Massive increases to the Deficit, War Mongering, Healthcare, The Drug War, Xenophobia (gays, immigrants and so on).

gonna be a tough two years, still have to listen to our snowflake President with a fragile ego whine daily, but at least the reign of his dictatorship has come to a end, there is real checks and balances again..

as republicans keep telling us...... elections have consequences

who cares, his returns got the green light from the irs... he's been doing business all over the globe for a lifetime, so 'finding' a flow of income from foreigners would be normal...

the house is the 'prosecutor' but the senate is the judge... to refresh memories, billy goat was impeached by the house, but the senate absolved him and he stayed on as prez ;)

Trump knows his base, his 'white nationalist' base plus the 'real republicans' was enough voters to counter some of the wave, but I don't even care, cause we took the house, that makes me very happy

most real republican wont even admit voting for Trump once he is out of office - jmho

Hillary lost cause so many did not get out and vote as they did not think so many republicans would vote for a immoral pig like Trump... they were wrong... hopefully dems do not make the same mistake in 2020

    Hillary lost because

    1) She had no plan, no message, nothing to vote for - all she did was bash Trump.
    2) She was an establishment insider in an "anti establishment" election. This middle is growing bigger and was the deciding factor in the tide turning in this election.
    3) She was an awful candidate. So condescending and arrogant that even many Dem women do not like her. Nails on a chalkboard.

As stated - the Dem's need to get their sht together. They need to stop being so extreme "Warren for example" and get a coherent message and stop with the political correct BS. Developing some respect for individual liberty would help - "big time" - respect for the founding principles .. aka "Classical Liberalism".

I can't stand Trump - and knew prior to him being elected that he was a eugenics ideologue. Even So - I am telling you that the alternative was worse in my mind (not knowing what I do now and perhaps even knowing what I know now .. and suspected back then).

I have Trashed Fox "news" for years and years - longer than I can remember. CNN and MSNBC are now worse in many ways but, I digress.

Look at TEXAS - 3 Red incumbents knocked off and how close the races were. The demgraphic shift is happening .. and it completely against Red.

Blue leadership just needs to move to the middle and the game is over.

Ga Gov candidate Abrams makes race-baiting, voter suppression concession speech despite being down at least 100k votes. No class. No surprise.

Yes; as a Texan I was pleased that Ted Cruz remains our U.S. senator and that he won despite being out spent five to one by outside the state Dem Party money. The Dem leadership tried like hell to BUY Texas; and they failed.

No new legislation for ten years would be tremendous progress. Works for me.

The odds of getting an impeachment vote on something are higher now. The odds of an impeachment leading to a conviction are much lower now.

problem is if the economy now drops down after a period of democrats blocking everything it will be pretty easy to put the blame there

Dems won the House and GOP keeps Senate, which is what everyone predicted. Trump must be fuming.

FL race seems to be headed for a re-count. Not that it matters, because GOP will hold Senate with, or without Scott.

Voting rights for ex-cons was restored in 6 States, and that is significant in places like Florida, where races are always on the razors edge. The new laws will add 1.5 million new voters, most of who are low income and minority. If Dems can get them to vote, they will tip the scales as soon as 2020.

Not sure ho losing the House puts Trump in drivers seat, but ok....

Yes, Cruz is the real Hispanic. I was surprised how close it got, but end result was never in doubt given the size of rural Texas.

The Trump era GOP view that government should run the economy is deeply flawed. A grid lock in DC is a good thing.

Translation: Ram yet more ObamaCare sideways down the nation's gagging throat. Craft enough laws to make the 2nd Amendment meaningless so that effectively gun ownership is pretty much impossible. Open borders.

Those are not their stated goals, nor are they realistic ones. Controlling the house puts them in a position to oppose, but not to pass anything.
