I agree that the money played a role but if she and her child were subjected to racism by the royal family and the Britiah tabloids, to the point that she felt suicidal, I can't blame her for doing the interview. I also better understand why they gave up their royal positions and left the UK.
I imagine that they exersized their freedom of speech in order to put their side and counter the speculation in the press. A right that was suppressed while they were members of the royal family. I think that while Oprah was doing her best to sensationalise the interview for ratings quite blatantly the couple handled themselves quite well. Harry has been open about his own mental health issues in the past and received praise for it from healthcare organizations specialising in them. It must have been very distressing for him to see his wife go through similar problems. To call it playing the suicide card is crass and insensitive. I still think they should have stuck to the never complain, never explain motto as this interview is just going to increase the toxicity coming from those who don't like many of the issues they campaign on but freedom of speech and a right of reply are part of why they wanted to leave the Royal family in the first place. Perhaps if they'd been Nazi sympathisers more like Edward and Mrs Simpson instead of progressive liberals many of those now attacking them would be cheering them instead.
The royal institution is worried they will lose their income if their dirty laundry is aired. I have no doubt the institution was secretly happy Princess Dianna was killed in a car crash.
By ''got the nation talking'' they really mean ''we are trying to get the nation talking about''. The Daily Mail is one of the more toxic papers when it comes to attacking the couple.
I thought it was super ironic that Oprah danced all the way to the threshold of popping the cork on media bias. It almost got there. The examples of media folks driving false narratives that "hurt" the feelz of the american princess..... It could have been instructive. it could have also demonstrated the same behavior of the media that we all had to endure in their treatment of the former president. The obvious lies. The obvious intent to sell anger, etc. But, and this seems to be the most interesting thing, ms Oprah seems to have made a ton of money both flogging a story that is ridiculous on its face, and then profited from the tabloid sensationalism herself. I think the numbers speak for themselves. The mini royals have lots of overhead, bills, etc that cost a lot to keep going. They have a huge mortgage, and since they decided to quit, their patronages/income, etc were cut off. So, they got Oprah to interview them, made a few shackles (or the "foundation" (or whatever they are calling their charitable wing,) and they made LOTs of money from the advertisers who wanted to also cash in on the tabloid spectacle.. Frankly who cares?
When you bear in mind the way Harry's mother was treated it's not really surprising he didn't want his wife to be treated the same.

Neah... 3 things stand out. We got that #metoo and racism in the open. And Meghan being not "exactly" white is new to the royal house. And that press in the UK... it was a nice contributing factor why Harry doesn't have a mother. Did not happen before. And them tabloids have been around for a while.... and instead of them inventing how it is: they get told how it goes. That's new. So even when you say... right to live their lives how they see fit. They do, yet you do kind of object.
It's an American show. So you know... it's predominantly scripted based on reality. In general it's questions asked is agreed upon, and questions who may not be asked is also agreed upon. Amount spend on each subject, get determined.... because of commercial breaks. The entire interview length is also set... to be able to fit to be aired, and also regarding how long people would like to watch it. How you can go from 1 subject about racism to the next... no way this was all "let's wing it!" Other than that. If people don't care: fair enough. Nobody is being made to watch it. Tabloids had their say for years about them Bit weird to complain they have 1 say back. Other than that... I do believe that race card was pulled before. Not by them 2. But it hasn't gone unnoticed, so to say, that Megan aint white.
as most here have stated nobody really cares about harry and megan .. but it is always fun to read about and then criticize issues or people that are easy targets and these 2 have huge self placed bulls eyes on themselves they were coerced into this spectacle by oprah through tyler perry.. in many circles Oprah and Perry are the king and queen of USA this was a payback to perry for allowing them to stay at his hollywood home and using his security my guess is perry and megan had a connection through the television business this interview accomplished 3 things.. Oprah made $7 million bucks Oprah and Perry got to show up the Royal Family and the only important thing this interview accomplished is the beginning of the trial of derick chauven for the murder of George Floyd was kept out of the limelight this interview has been the focus of the MSM....and NOT George Floyd without this interview , the MSM would be all over the Floyd trial and by focusing on harry and megan, a few riots may have already been prevented and yes Fox news is also the Main Stream Media.. hopefully Fox and other news outlets try to cool the narrative of the trial rather than turn up the heat
Soooooo.... They left the royal family because the media and tabloids were just to much for them and then they come across the pond to jump into this media spotlight. Worst day time soap opera ever and I wish everyone would just ignore these insanely wealthy, arrogant, whiny imbeciles and quite giving them a soap box. Telling how rough their life is while dawning a $100 k outfit and rolling up in your Bentley is just bullshit in my humble opinion!
