Nice try but obama economy was two phased. First was the natural rebound from a precipitous decline that his policies slowed. Second was anemic growth as his economic policies hampered capitalism. He was the only post war president never to achieve an annual 3% GDP and that was over two terms. In fact he handed Trump a GDP in decline and Trump immediately turned that around.

 

No doubt the agressive series of interest rate raises by the fed (4 this year alone) has had a negative impact on stocks just as their hands off approach for eight years under Obama had a positive impact on the DOW. The fed chairman yesterday acknowledge the harm his policy is doing to wall street and stated that he didn't care.
As usual there's seldom one reason for anything though and yes fears of a trade war make investors nervous just as fears of a real war would. Unfortunately just as in a military war this trade war has to be waged or we face more extensive long term harm to our economy than this short term damage caused by taking a stand.
Same thing with the government shut down fear. Short term it scares investors but border security is vital to the long term best interest of America and our economy. Trump is a strategic thinker and those of you especially in the snowflake generation that are used to immediate gratification and are unwilling to make short term sacrifice for long term gain are incapable of comprehending this concept.

In just the past few days, Trump: secured passage of a criminal justice reform bill that's arguably more sweeping than any Obama-era reforms, unilaterally banned a gun accessory (something Obama wouldn't have dreamt of) and ended a military engagement Obama started.

 

Well let's start with the tax cut. The corporate tax cut was an economic necessity to put our corporations on a more even playing field with foreign corporations who pay less tax. The middle class tax cut was a political necessity to shut up democrats demagouging the issue. It did result in more money in the pockets of consumers which may have stimulated the economy but yeah time will tell if their extra spending makes up for the revenue shortfall.

 

Revenues have increased but so has spending.

 

Revenues have definitely increased as more people are employed but I think that's from the corporate tax cut not the middle class tax cut.

 

Record third quarter of repatriated overseas cash. Good policy is good for Americans as a whole but bad politically for democrats.

 

Which us why democrats are doing everything possible to thwart Trump policies economic and otherwise.

 

Yet was robust enough for the feds to start raising interest rates way back in 2015.
I guess the fed limited the growth to under 3% under his term also. Since it seems there are some suggesting that of the fed today.
So far, tRUMP hasn't achieved 3% annual either.
And he didn't start out with the yuuuuugggggeee hole the R party left behind.

 

As opposed to a Nationalist who starts trade wars, imposes tariffs, stiffs the taxpayer for a mostly useless wall. Increasing the trade deficits.
