Yes, we could put down Assad, but for what. Putting down Assad is not a peace project. Building back a country is not a small project, and the problem of european and american is they are moved during one month, then they forget and get other preoccupations. Building back syria would need at least two decades.

Yes Assad is an *******, and S.Hussein too, but did putting down S.Hussein created a better situation ? No. Did putting down M.Khadafi created a better situation in Lybia ? Not really again. Killing Assad will not solve the problem. It would maybe even make them worst.

When the american took care of Hitler, they had a project and occupied Germany for 15 years, could base themselves on former offical of the Weimar republic. Syria was never democratic, their is nobody to base you on.

Without a real, serious peace project, putting down Assad will probably just making the thing worst.

All I see is BS speculation.

    Its not proof.

I cant believe Assad is stupid enough to use Chemical weapons when there is a Republican President in the White House.

And we have already huge problems of debt. The situation in France isn't a complete disaster but we have already enough problems to care about Syria.

I can't believe that America was stupid enough to put Trump in the White House. Moral of the story, people do stupid things. ;)

So are you arguing what Obama did in Syria and Libya is a good thing? I would tend to use those examples as why not to intervene in Syria.

Everyone is hurting financially. The US has always paid its share in defending the free world. It is time other countries stepped up and did the same.

I'm sorry but if by "defending" the free world, you're speaking about the war in Iraq, most countries don't consider it the same.

I'm a partisan of sovereignty and like a lot of french I appreciate the legacy of De Gaulle. Among the things he did, he left NATO and enabled french to have their own nukes. The guy who put back France into NATO was N.Sarkozy and it's one of the most unpopular president we had, and one of the most corrupted too.

We helped the malian governement to fight djihadist and helped many african governement, but their is no ways we will be involved in a war we don't want to be involved in. We can't do anything for Syria, because if we could probably put down assad, we couldn't bring peace. And their is the problem, you can't decrete peace and democracy. The struggles happening in Syria is a bigger thing we can deal with.

No, Iraq was a war we should not have fought. I mean things like military aid and equipment to over 100 countries around the world including Israel, Egypt, Turkey, South Korea, Ukraine, Japan and countless others. I mean sending troops to fight wars in Europe and Asia sacrificing countless American lives. I mean stationing troops and equipment in numerous countries around the world to protect their democratic freedoms. If you have a problems with the US "defending the free world" quote perhaps you should tell us why you think America has not done enough?

Agree Syria developed on Obama's watch.

    Remove all Americans from Syria.

Drop the big one, see what happens.

We have been down this road before with Saddam. First the WMD BS. Then a war that cost 2 Trillion dollars and resulted in thousands of American soldiers being killed or maimed. For the people that fall for this remember the old adage: "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me."

It is the Deep State that wants a war with Syria. They had Hillary on board. Now it looks like they will either manipulate Trump or blackmail him into supporting a war. Assad is fighting ISIS. If anything the U.S. should support him.

I say leave the Muslims to deal with their own problems. Stay out and let them boil in their own stew. Let's see how they do without the West.
