    The idea that having some kind of policy that might be considered socialistic and therefore intolerable is increasingly a thing of the past--at least as far as the urban and much of the sub-urban population is concerned. What we're seeing now is a population shift to that growing segment that does not see all socialist policies as evil.

    Whether we like it or not, it's happening. That's why the idea of dumping our concept of an all powerful federal government is a better route to the future.

    I have a good friend who is bi-polar. He has one simple medication to take that keeps him in balance. Have spent a lot of time hunting with him and his wife. One thing I know for sure......he knows when he is tired and needs rest. He wrote a book about his life.Drugs were a part of it. One thing I know about Mark.....he is impulsive. His book bears that out. Couldn't believe some of the things he went through. He lives a very disciplined life, has a family, and founded a Church with over 2000 members.

    I have a cocktail, and it took years to get it right. It still needs adjustment from time to time.

    I "can" be impulsive. I got into some serious consumer debt by going into manic induced binge shopping periods. I've got that under control, now. Our only debt is house & car; the rest of the cards are paid in full each month.

    I'm in a good spot; between my cocktail, and using the MJ as my doctor has guided, has kept me in balance for many years. I've gotten off two pharmaceuticals since I got my MJ card.

    I think every moral rinciple in the Christian bible predates both Christianity and Judaism. I think they predate all religions. We are hard-wired to want personal freedom, and to fit it with a group or clan or tribe.

    That seems to be the puposeful way in which Republican-run states went about trying to stack the deck in Trump's favor ... make voting difficult, it's the new GOP mantra. It's one of the ways in which they maintain their minority rule of America.

    This is one of the more insightful comments on this forum. America needs independent bodies to administer elections, redistricting etc. Take it out of the hands of politicians and give it to a neutral group with strict legal criteria to meet. This happens in other Western nations and it works. It won't fix America's problems, but it will make the electoral system & thus the political system function better.

    This election was about getting rid of Trump and basically nothing else. You're correct, the GOP did really good considering Trump lost by around 5 million votes. In fact, this is the first election since 1884 where a party's candidate won the popular vote and the presidency while losing seats in the House. The rundown so far.

    Presidency, Biden wins

    Senate democrat's net gain of 1 seat so far. Not much of a gain considering the Republicans had 23 seats up for reelection vs. 12 for the Democrats. Currently it 50-48 GOP. The two Georgia races will be decided in a 5 Jan 2021 runoff.

    The Republicans have a net gain of 8 seats so far with 10 still to be determined. Republicans flipped 10 Democratic seats; 1 Libertarian seat, MI-3, Amash who once was a Republican, but switched to the Libertarian Party. The Democrats flipped 3 Republican seats. Last election. 235 Democrats, 199 Republican, 1 Libertarian. Current count, 219 Democrat, 206 Republican 10 still to be determined.

    State legislature, democrats lost 2. Republicans now control 29 state legislatures to 18 for the Democrats. Arizona is still up in the air. Minnesota is divided while Nebraska has a unicameral legislature.

    governorship's democrats lost one. Republicans now have 27 governors to 23 for the Democrats. The Republicans won 8 of 11 Governors races.

    Considering that there were approximately 4.7 million ticket splitters who voted for Biden, then Republican down ballot, explains Republican gains while still losing the presidency. This election was in no means a mandate or an endorsement of Democratic Party policies or agenda. It was about getting rid of Trump. Biden had zero, none, nada coat tails. Had those 4.7 million ticket splitters who voted Republican down ballot voted for Trump, Trump would have easily won reelection.

    I don't think our system needs reforming, it's the fact many states weren't set up to handle millions of mail in ballots. They're used to a few thousand absentee ballots, not millions. As for Trump's power, we'll see. I read where Trump is setting up a PAC trying to retain influence over the GOP. Will it work, I don't think so, but one never knows. As for pollsters, they got Biden's numbers right, it's Trump's numbers where they were off. They were off in most down ballot offices also. The Democrats were expected to pickup 4-8 seats in the senate, 6-10 in the house, flip 4 or 5 state legislatures and win a couple of governorship's. Failure all around. But perhaps that shouldn't have been surprising. This election was all about Trump, not necessarily about Biden or the Democrats running for other offices. It seems to me that ideology and political philosophy took a back seat at the presidential level, but not down ballot.

    I kinda figured you'd pick an era, before civil rights even, where you think things were great. If one was a white male, you are absolutely correct for that time period.
    But no so much for people of color or gay or any other minority.
    What is great depends on one's perspective.

    Neither unsolicited nor "all over the place." Due to the pandemic, mail-in ballots were automatically sent to registered voters in many states. In a few states, voters had to request them.

    All you're doing is regurgitating Trump's "massive fraud" fearmongering.

    Every state has its own rules. Are you advocating for all states to adopt a federally mandated process? Isn't that a states' rights issue? I thought conservatives favored state autonomy, but you seem to be asking for big government nanny state election rules. Next thing you know, you'll be asking for the president to be elected by popular vote, not the Electoral College.

    It was slow in coming, but it did. Actually, the black family, as a unit did far better then than it does now in spite of inequality issue. LBJ's War on poverty drove the black family in the ground!

    Actually there are many that received multiple ballots., and ballots delivered where the occupant was gone. Guess it will take the court to prove you wrong.

    Rights are only those deemed important by society and granted and enforced by some governing mechanism.

    My position is that in areas of a National Election, one that involves the executive....their needs to be uniformity. I know Democrats don't like that because they like to slip in more votes as needed.

    And here's is the dirty little secret the Democrats don't want anybody to know. Lyndon Baines Frigging Johnson's "War on Poverty" was DESIGNED to destroy the black family. The #1 criteria for receiving Welfare was that the man was not allowed in the house.
