Funny all these research papers seem to contradict you http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/research/hicrc/firearms-research/gun-ownership-and-use/index.html
All? Even one of the shining author that Reiver uses shows that handgun licensing increases suicide by other methods.
Who should not own a gun? Americans, obviously - they watch too many cowboy films and are too wet to put their fists up like men.
IT DOES? Which study shows that??? Not this one - although it does explain why people might think that method availability id immaterial http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/research/hicrc/firearms-research/gun-ownership-and-use/index.html
Never owned a gun. Growing up, my family never owned a gun. Not once did we run into a situation where it would have been useful.
There are only 2 reasons I can see a gun as being useful. Hunting. And living on a farm where you may have to put an animal down.
- defending your home from a home invasion - interceding in a violent crime if you are able to CCW - overthrowing your government if they violate your constitution - resisting an invasion from China
Never did NOT own a gun. My first gun was a 22LR revolver. My second gun was a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi auto. My third and fourth guns were issued to me -- a 45ACP and a 5.56 mm M-16 I now defend myself with another 45ACP and a 12 gauge shotgun in 8 + 1 capacity. And I hunt with a 300 RUM and a 44 rem mag revolver.
Rare - even in America Even rarer Have yet to be convinced that is probable let alone possible Don't get depressed but I don't think China wants to invade............................................it's cheaper just to call in the debts and BUY you!!!

this is the BB Debate Style. Discards all history for her convenience. Disallows pertintent information, then tell her opponents they are full of themselves. Accuses others of using a broad brush while getting out her 6 inch floor brush. She lies about information and twists it to her advantage, then comes back later and claim she never said that. ( I can prove this and already have). It is akin to arguing with a 9 year old foot stomper demanding her way is the only way, when in fact she has no way. She only responds from a dark period in her life. Something has occurred to her or very close to her to blind her to the real world. She claims she is not promoting that we give our guns up, but rather pursues an argument that results in us agreeing with her with the next step to voluntarily disarm because we see the insanity the way she sees. Typical of people who cannot see past the end of their nose while justifying their putting it in someone else's business. justifying=Usually self-righteous in nature.
this fails in light of the successful suicides. BB, you cannot get information from a dead guy. How do you explain the increased number of suicides in your country by hanging and edged weapons since the gun ban?
We've never said that the need for a gun for self defense is not 'rare". Nice tho that by saying rare, you agree that they happen. If it happens (again) to me, I wont be unprepared. What about you?
Yes, we know you don't understand. Now run and cower under your bed while dialing 911 (or whatever you dial in the pathetic country you live in) and pray to ? the police get to you before the intruder who is already in your house does. Just keep your filthy paws off of my guns. M'kay? When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
And you don't understand - last time I had an intruder at my door I pushed him back out the door, slammed it and called assistance - intruder was long gone but GONE. Our intruders are less likely to have guns so much easier to deal with And then we are not confined to thinking that you are defenceless without a gun - like the guy who threw cans of fruit or the
