Yeah some kid got killed painting a toy to look like the real thing. The guns aren't dangerous but ignorance and stupidity can always find a way to get you killed.

You mainly speak in ignorance, for instance the gun show loop hole is a myth.

Having the second amendment is the point.

Guns are not holy or sacred.
The right to own them is.

And that's the sad reality of the world we currently live in. Kids had BB guns back in the day, hell kids had actual guns back in the day. Even when I was in high school half of the kids had rifles in their vehicles on school grounds in the parking lot because they went hunting all the time.

Nowadays due to all of the stuff going on in society you'd be irresponsible as a parent to let your child walk around the front yard with a BB gun. Not because the BB gun is dangerous for a child to have but the amount of danger you put your child through by letting them walk around with a BB gun in "public".

I remember playing cops and robbers with my friends one time and the cop who patrolled our neighborhood actually stopped and asked if if we were playing cops and robbers again. We said yes and he joined our team as the cops and Ill never forget the shock on my friends faces when they came walking out of the woods with their rifles in hand and stocking on their heads as the cop blared at them on the bullhorn telling them they were under arrest lol. Which they of course said wasn't fair and we cheated by having the real cops on our side. Nowadays if a bunch of 10 year olds are running around the neighborhood with cap guns and stockings on their heads the cops are likely to shoot them instead of joining in on their game.

We had rifles in our trucks when I was in high school. Nowadays you literally get arrested and/or expelled for bringing a pink water gun to school or making a gesture of a gun with your thumb and pointer finger.

The amount that society has changed in so little time is sad.

Why are guns holy objects in this country?

Because the NRA has spent a lot of money to make them so.

Firearms ownership for legal purposes is a constitutionally recognized and protected right in the united states. Thus making the pertinent question to be asking, why are constitutional rights so important to the people of the united states. Should they be willing to allow any of their other constitutional rights to be restricted without legitimate cause? Perhaps they should allow the protection of the first amendment to be rolled back to combat hate speech and bullying that leads to suicides?

    Those days are long gone.

Imagine if this happened today: When I was about 10 two of us were picking and eating blueberries in a farmers blueberry patch. The farmer stepped out on his porch and fired birdshot over our heads to stop us from raiding his patch. If he did that today he'd go to jail. Back then we thought nothing of it.

In 1999, the victims at the Wedgewood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX were not allowed to defend themselves. Their families carry now. At least I know that one family does. Sutherland Springs was a final wake up call for church going Texans.

Personally, I avoid gun free zones when possible. That means I at least have a chance of somebody shooting back, even if it's not me.

Those other countries lack our history with guns.

Guns ARE family here.......and we use them to defend ourselves and our families.

America is unique.......can't be compared with other countries.

We will keep our guns, thank you very much.

Our new Supreme Court guarantees it.

Of course they are not holy objects, but you know that :) You are just attempting another hyperbolic leftist flame thread OR you would have simply asked why do folks enjoy guns?

Don't get me wrong, I fully understand the reasoning behind the "Holy" bullshit, it's killing or actually flaming two bird with one bait :)

Ask yourself this. Why are you so concern with mass shooting when 10X that many are shot in Chicago in the same time frame.. Doesn't it seem weird that people would focus almost exclusively on a problem that doesn't even come close to a problem that exists year after year effecting 3000+ a year? I don't understand how 16,017 shooting in one State since 2012 can be ignored while 303 in one year is a hot topic with the bleeding heart leftist and their obvious misguided shallow quest to save lives and reduce gun violence ;) It just doesn't feel genuine to me, then again I'm hardly a leftist or claim to understand leftist priorities either.. Although, I do have a fair understanding of their lucrative agenda and propaganda plays!

    Shootings, so far this year
    2012 2,179
    2013 1,939
    2014 2,229

Go to Switzerland, they hold monthly tournaments in most towns.
A gun is a tool nothing more. It is the person using it or the criminal misusing it that makes it deadly.
For mental health issues, you are going to have to rewrite laws on doctor/patient confidentiality to fix it. How far are you willing to go down that road.
BTW, California's law on this very same issue didn't stop this shooter. He was evaluated by State authorities back in April and they deemed him OK. And he used a pistol, not an AR15.
I hunt and fish, and support Hunters for the Hungry, a charity that hunters can donate meat to feed the homeless. Our local chapter sent 4500 lbs of BBQ pork during the floods in TX to feed people.

We help control the wild hog problem, we have even went to Louisiana and helped with the neutrino problems that they have there. We bagged more than 50 in one weekend, and donated the meat to an alligator farm.
So just because you are hysterically frightened of guns, doesn't mean your views are important. Why don't you move to one of those other countries where you can feel safe

I have never bought a firearm at a gun show that I wasn't subject to a ICE back ground check.. Now trading "of which I do not do" is another story.. But as far as I'm concerned that's no different then how every thug in every ghetto across the U.S. acquires their weapon.

Well yes it is. Long ago, a kid can carry a BB gun with no problem. Today, the same kid would be shot by a cop. You grow up.

    • Flamebaiting (Rule 2/3)
Guns aren’t dangerous,--- is that supposed to be a joke? Guns are specifically designed to kill without out the need to get within close contact and they do that very efficiently. What does a singly guy use to kill 20 and wound 30 more, a carving knife?

    <Rule 2/3>

Because free people have the right to carry guns, and Americans like being free.

I notice them trying to ban and confiscate guns all the time.

Because most of us don't live in the inner gang infested city therefore we don't really care what they are doing to one another.

We can call it whatever we want but the fact is simple. Mass shootings happen to "suburbia", gang violence mostly happens in inner cities ghetto's where we don't live so we don't care.

Nobody, not even the Left really mentioned much about gun violence at all before the start of this mass shooting epidemic over the past decade or so.

People are just bias that's all. People are concerned with mass shootings because they tend to happen in "normal" places that "You and I" frequent like the mall or a movie theater or concert or something.

In layman's terms. Nobody gave a damn about inner city ghettos getting shot up on a daily basis because most people discussing such issues don't live in inner city ghettos. They live in suburbia. Once that crap hit suburbia now it became a problem all of a sudden that we have to address NOW!

That's the real truth of the matter. Lower class Americans in poverty have been getting slaughtered for decades via gun violence and nobody really cared. Now that "Middle America" is under attack we have many folks willing to throw out the entire damn US Constitution to fix this.

    It's funny how that works.

"12 innocent people were killed in inner city Chicago last week due to crossfire from gun violence". Sucks for them
"12 innocent people were killed in Middle American Suburbia by a gun" Oh ****! Ban the guns, ban the magazines, ban the bullets, mandatory background checks, mandatory mental health checks, you don't need 30 rounds to kill a deer, only hunting rifles, fix this! MY part of America is under attack.

My question to all of these holier than thou folks who now care about this all of a sudden. I grew up partially in one of these inner city hellholes. I've lost 4 friends and 2 family members to gun violence in the 90s.

Where the hell was your outrage then?

Leave the orange on the tip of the barrel which designs it is not a real firearm and the kid should have no problem with cops.

Does the orange tips glow in the dark? What is preventing the kid from painting it black? I know a lot of airsofter do this. The days of playing with BB guns in public are over.

Actions have consequences, if you paint it Black, your own fault...and why would you allow your kid out at night with a bb gun? Stupid is as stupid does...some people get what they deserve.
