So we're supposed to believe that these people, who call for secession every time they lose an election, have the best interest of the country at heart? Louisiana would be worst than a 3rd world nation if it wasn't part of the US. Then there's the fact that being a part of the Union isn't voluntary and certainly not subject to the whims of the anti-American right-wingers who are acting like a bunch of screaming babies because they couldn't buy, lie or cheat their way to an election victory. As a little hint of what's coming in the future: I've hear somewhere that the Republicans failed to win the popular vote for Presidency 5 out of 6 times. I checked the facts and they are true. IN THE LAST 20 YEARS, THE REPUBLICANS HAVE WON THE POPULAR VOTE FOR PRESIDENT ONE TIME! Think about that for a little while.
Yep, states' rights died in the Civil War. Just another way the constitution has ceased to be relevant. I hope they get their needed signatures, as this petition and its story will quickly fade into obscurity otherwise. I do hope at least one state will manage this successfully, though. I can imagine Texas pulling it off.
Nor does it have any provision allowing the states to leave the union. I repeat this issue was decided once and for all in 1865. No responsible leaders in any state would dare talk this kind of treason. That is what you are talking about . Treason.
TX, LA, OK and the rest of the South can all leave. The amount of welfare they suck combined would balance the budget for the rest of the real Americans. Besides nothing good has come from the South...ever.
You've already sold all your oil to the oil companies. Are you saying the 'nations' that would be formed would nationalize their oil? Seems pretty communistic to me.
It ain't that good and believe me, the chefs would beat feet out of NO. They would have to to earn a living.
I hope a state does try and secede. We haven't shot any traitors in great numbers for quite a while now.
BTW don't forget that if you leave the union you will be liable for your part of federal debt.... As for me I think you should go, take your part of the debt and stop collecting money from hard working states!
States that actually pay to federal government, Louisiana GETS PAID by federal government, do you comprehend the difference? I'd say let them go, I'm sick of moochers!
Seems like we have figured out how to manage the system . Sick of moochers, then I guess you are sick of 50% of the obama voters. Are you recommending that they leave the country---that would be fine with me. Maybe they can all go to Cuba, castro needs more workers---oops that won't work, obama voters don't work do they?
Isn't it amazing how so many conservative southerners are convinced that they're more American than their Northern liberal counterparts? I mean, it is the south that's shown itself to be full of treasonous little (*)(*)(*)(*)s; they're the ones who've rebelled after all. If they try that seceding (*)(*)(*)(*) they'll get their asses curb stomped just like before.
This is what i mean by intellectual shiftlessness. Only a southerner could mistake this thread for something other than an invitation, a plea, to angry white knuckledrager to secede.
don't worry, unfortunately, southerners are too lazy, uneducated, disorganized, and comfortable sucking the north's blood to go anywhere. Not to mention angry. You need a cool head to execute this deranged fantasy of theirs.
Why is it that you northern rednecks cannot appreciate humor? The whole thing is a joke. Geez, you guys are thick headed.
Easy answer for that. All the gov't teat-suckers would self-deport to those states that remain in the Union. Problem solved.
Wait ! They can't leave yet ! They need to stay around at least for a while to help pay for Obama's out of control debt !
If a state wants to leave, why force them to stay? It only makes you look bad. If you have to force your citizens to stay in your country, what does that say about you? There's a lot of irony in this thread. The liberals who oppose wars can't wait to kill americans and they also can't wait to kick "freeloaders" out.
I agree 100%. Any state that has a majority of it's citizens wishing to secede should be allowed to do so. You could even come up with an agreement to make it a test. Let a state try it for say five yaers, and if it doesn't work out, they can rejoin. Countries have come and gone all throughout history, and the same at some point in the future will happen to the U.S.
