Whos scapegoating anyone? Kids had food on their plate, and then were told dont eat it...throw it away. Someones head should roll, and I dont care whos it is. Be it people from Whitsons, or the jackasses in the school that complied with it.

It's a waste of tax money to throw these lunches in the can. once theyve been put on a kids tray, you cant reissue it. On top of that, you simply dont do that to kids.

Lol...Keep backtracking. Maybe you'll end up on the side of people over profits.
Meanwhile, your myopic view of America is laughable.
There are liberals and cons everywhere and your puerile taunts are nonsense.

ok, seems the school corrected the problem as soon as they figured out there was one? seems you are upset like the principal supported the staff decisions....

of course, it goes without saying, if parents don't go $30 into the red with their kid's lunches.... this is a non-issue. If only there were a simpler issue like being able to mark them before they picked up the regular meal instead of the alternative cheese sandwhich, like an x on their hand or something.... the kid could have been instructed to get the correct meal.

oh but wait, people get their feelings hurt over that too.....

Care to address my question or are you going to continue with your childish taunts and rants?

I agree. But the only heads that should roll are on the Whitson owners who concocted their policy of denying kids lunch if any money was owed.
Trying to blame anyone else is not getting to the heart of the matter.

    Nope.
The school can keep lists, and make sure they get it right. They get a paycheck.

No need to brand kids. I'd fire a handful to send a message.

Its too bad that the kids didnt pick the food out of the garbage, then the headlines could have been "Principal forces kids to eat from garbage" and he would have been (*)(*)(*)(*) canned right away. If one of the kids was a minority, it could have been " Principal forces minority student to eat from garbage" ...
I should have been a journalist.

Please document this policy to hand kids food to only take it away.

Dont let them off the hook so easilly Joe. Thats damage control. the small words in the story show this was alot worse than simply "denying lunch".

The kids were given lunch, then embarrassed by having it taken from them and put into the ttrash. Using their damage control phrase "denied lunch" softens what they actually did.
This was done at the school level.
Blame is all around for this one IMO.

It is inexcusable in this day and age that you can't simply give kids a card of some kind to swipe on a reader that will let them know if they can pay for their lunch. They are cheap and reusable. It would also save kids some embarrassment as they could check before going up to the lunch counter if they weren't sure they had enough.

That or giving parents direct access to their accounts online instead of paying once a month. Its not like every meal costs the same either. If the parents have money left over in the account at the end of the year they dont get it back either.

Yeah I dont have a problem with certain types of taxes and IMO if we want a youth base that is going to compete with the rest of the world school should be a bit longer to incorporate daily fitness and lunches should just be provided based off tax dollars.

I agree. I have 0 issue with tax money going to kids.

Id like to see us strip it from all the non citizens we are carrying, and see us stop giving aid around the world and focus on our own here at home.

Give every kid in school meals. Thats what people want their tax dollars going to....their own concerns and families here at home.

Not afghanistans helicopter fleets, and Pakistans friendship....and a million other causes outside the borders that we waste money on. (*)(*)(*)(*) them.

1st graders lose their jackets on 35* days... and you want them to have a debit card? lols.

They have lunch numbers, that are tied to their accounts, but when they are into the red, they are given credit. Problems arise when numerous attempts are made to get parents to make the account current and they don't. That is when alternative lunches come into play. It is not up to the school, the lunchroom, the taxpayer, to make up the difference from someone who can pay, just choses not to pay.

I understand the outrage, but didn't the school say they would correct the issue, so why even bother posting a thread on the subject?

The principal can fix it after it's happened, but how would she know to be in that location at that time to stop it?

Sounds like what min-wage staff do when they're following MBA do-or-be-fired orders. Was this one of those schools to have outsourced its cafeteria operations to the private sector?

Its a no win situation. If the kids come home and say, they're getting lunch even though they're not paying, guarantee 99% of these parents won't bother paying, since it'll be "FREE". Why should they? Its moronic though to throw out food once its given. Completely asinine and cruel. All I want to know is what the parents are driving, what type of phone they're using and the contents of their homes. Guarantee many with some basic budget skills could figure out a way to afford lunch for their children. If not, being unable to feed your own kids is a failure at life. Sorry.

    Strange things happen in Taxachusetts.

No doubt the lunch vendor is a big Dem donor in that area and is trying to recoup his donations.
