What you have left to learn, is that when the ideas you are labeling as bad, are as massive in scope as those expressed in a religion the size of Islam, or the ideologies borne from Marxism, you can't help but be wrong. Its simply impossible to know how all aspects in them and the yearning they express, will evolve and change as they intersect with ours. Something can grow out of the mutual exposure of even seemingly mutually exclusive ideas that will be better, not worse than the antecedent ideas. Not a lot was more scary in the day, than many of the purely crazy ideas behind the Enlightenment, or even our own revolution.
This family met the president and less than 24 hours later announced they were moving out of the country. I think this is less a reflection on the family... and more a reflection on Obama
You don't like my opinion, I don't like yours. Careful pointing that finger of bigotry at me, bucko, you have three pointing back at you. I suggest you dial it down, unless you're blatantly trying to be a hypocrite.
Ha ha ha, yep. Was Obama not such narcissist, he'd feel insulted for himself and for America. As it is well... probably approves of Ahmed.
I did not point the 'finger of bigotry' at you, but at the stereotypes and fears you were promoting in post #45. You don't have to be a bigot, to exploit those stereotypes and fears. Who knows, some of your best friends could be people who are Muslim.
The Qatar job had to be in the works for months.. Americans do extremely well in Qatar and the Gulf States.. That's why so many work there.
Amen to that... I swear man, that's all they can do is blame bigotry, some kind of phobia, or some "ism" on everything we're against. Never a normal argument. I guess it'd be about the same as not going for the mushroom on World 1-1 on Super Mario Brothers on the NES. You get so used to doing the same thing over and over that you don't know how to do it differently. - - - Updated - - - Terms. Compared to the what's most likely next, yes.
No (*)(*)(*)(*)ing way, Margot. I bet you, in view of Ahmed and his family's exceptional effort in promoting Islam and the plight of Muslims in America, the Emir of Qatar pulled few strings.
Agreed in the sense that forced brevity, required in forum debate, can be construed as stereotyping generalization by those inclined to find simplistic fault with a post. Come now we are both sharp folks, let's stipulate that fact and stop grinding the discussion to a halt with juvenile accusations. I'm not immune so let's meet half way, k? Cheers Labour
"What do we know about Qatar? It's an Islamist country with state religion where all non - Muslims are dhimmi and second class citizens. There's no freedom of speech, no dissent possible, terrorists are State heroes and non-Muslims are enslaved. Did not Qatar welcomed five Taliban generals, generously released by Obama into the wild?" You are just spouting a whole bunch of crap. Cite valid sources for all of these claims. Otherwise it is just blah, blah, blah...
Ehm ... sorry, but Qatar sends supplies to Jihadists in Libya and supports ISIS unofficially - done by Qatar citizens - with money and contacts! Qatar Army sends weapons to Jihadists in Libya who are allied with ISIS! So for me they are worst and no idea why no one is bashing on them like mad!
I'll define this once, because I think you're using it in the wrong context. Bigot: a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions. I'm biased towards anyone that wants to harm my country or take advantage of its soft people and come back at a later time and harm it. It's biased and prejudiced, but it's not bigoted. I'd appreciate it if you'd stop using terms in the wrong context. And I don't call it fear, you have to be scared first to fear something, and I'm far from frightened. I'm well prepared, are you? It'd be nice if you'd admit Ahmed and his family's hatred towards America, your country as well, but I don't expect it. And save the talk about stereotype please, we all do it. And his people have killed themselves and others for that reputation. Can't hate me for calling it out.
THIS ^^^^ They made one visit and BOOM, now they're moving and Ahmed Clockmed has scholarships to finish school and college. No coincidence on that one.

Wow.... educating yourself you must, and teacher I am not. Seeking sources on your own you should, and enlightened you shall become
No, that's (*)(*)(*)(*)ing stupid. By your definition, if a student gets arrested for bringing a pencil to school, we're all supposed to shut the (*)(*)(*)(*) up and let the police do their job. Surely you can now see how (*)(*)(*)(*)ing stupid your comment was.
1. I know the difference between bias and bigotry. I am not using your definition when I apply the word 'bigot' and your definition certainly not either necessarily the best or most frequently used. 2. I have seen zero evidence that this boy or his family hate this country, and you have provided none. 3. we all stereotype, but some of us know better than become infatuated with our stereotypes, and justify their use to label and marginalize groups of people and then individuals, based on their faith, their ethnicity, or choice of house of worship, because of those stereotypes. Maybe you do, but it is not looking good when it comes to Muslim-Americans, based on post #45. 4. I do not define who 'his people' are for him or his loyalties. I let him decide if 'his people' means his country, his culture, his personal relationships, his family or those that share his religion or a combination of some or all of those. Maybe for him, his 'people' are the fellow Americans he grew up with, went to school with and played with. He has not renounced his citizenship or committed an act of treason. He is getting an education abroad, because his parents decided it would be best.
I wouldn't be shocked at all. A kid brings a clock into school, gets arrested, and the local politicians and right-wing media turns it into a vast Islamic conspiracy to start jihad. I'd leave the country, too, at that point, probably with a little more sympathy toward those we are fighting against. Our right-wing media may have just helped create one more terrorist.
In all fairness, the left-wingnuts and liberal media turned it into an attack on Islam. It was just a kid with a very questionable device, who got caught up in an overreaction by some cops. Who happens to belong to a family with some very questionable, and possibly dangerous history. In that specific school too. So you think the Muslim Ahmed is on the way to being at terrorist ? Is it his religion? Skin color? Why do you think that of him?
