    That is exactly why they did it. The average consumer will not care that it does nothing to reduce the actual problem as long as they appear sanctimonious.

    What is ridiculous is thinking that the same bullet coming out of a different gun suddenly changes things.

    They are none of those things. The greater power, range, and accuracy of a rifle make it a much better choice than a handgun when defending yourself.

    Here is my honest opinion. The only gun owners against change are the Audie Murphy, Dirty Harry type wanna bees. I base this purely on the responses I read on here.

    No I agree that a bullet coming out of one gun is as deadly as the same bullet coming out of a different type of gun gun.

    False. These are fictional characters The main reason people oppose change is that they believe giving an inch will only lead to having to give another inch and so on. Here in California, it is obvious that the anti-gun people will never be satisfied until the second amendment only exists in history books.

    My honest opinion is that those who oppose gun regulation need to put into place something to stop the mass killings quickly. Or there will be lots of gun regulation. Arguing this is not fair or not constitutional or whatever misses the point. There will be gun regulation unless that occurs. If you doubt that study the history of regulation in the US.

    - Harden the schools to prevent the entry of a shooter
    Oh wait - the left opposes these things.

    Oh wait Republicans sympathetic to gun rights run the majority of legislatures in the US like say Florida. They don't care a fig about what liberals think.

    Why don't they pass what you suggest. I guess you could try to lobby your republican legislators to do this. If the killings continue you have zero chance to stop gun regulation. You can believe what you want, but there is 2 plus centuries of US history that says you are wrong.
