You are talking about LEGAL means of coming into the country, on visas, with an express intention to leave. The caravan, which has been offered asylum by mexico and refused, aren't looking to leave when their country is "safe".

Have you been hit by a rock? Can being hit by a rock not cause harm? Those 42 million are not migrants. They are people who work or go to school on the other side of the border and travel daily. Or just tourists. Hence the reason why Trump's new wall is worthless - 42 million crosses legally every year - hence most illegal immigrants come across legally
