They have to respond to the calls. If they have proof it was a prank then they do take action because it is a waste of taxpayer dollars.

 

My only objection would be describing it as "Jim Crow" culture, since that is generally associated with racism in the rural south. But as these "incidents" clearly demonstrate, racism is not limited to the rural south. Indeed, the most abusive police forces tend to be located in the urban north (Chicago, Detroit, NYC, etc.).

You do bring up an interesting point... most of these sorts of incidents tend to happen in places controlled by urban Democrats. The Chicago PD, for example, is notoriously corrupt and abusive. And unionized.

 

Actually, there are many other alternatives, ones that don't completely absolve police officers of any responsibility to respect the lives and liberties of the people they're supposed to be serving.

For example, one alternative would be properly screening and training police officers. Radical idea, I know.

Another example would be ending the failed, unconstitutional, disastrous "war on drugs", the enforcement of which not only endangers civilians, but police officers as well.

 

The Chicago police had a racist crew who tortured their mostly African America victims into signing whatever.

I'd call it an example of state privilege. The state, historically speaking, has ALWAYS assumed such privileges to itself. The state, by its very nature, is violent and authoritarian, and predominately aimed at the poor.

No, they would not be justified in killing you. You were innocent. Killing an innocent person is almost never justifiable.

In order for a shooting to be justified, it must be (a) based on positive identification of an actual threat and (b) proportionate to that threat.

You're right though about ending the war on drugs. Marijuana should be legalized and as for addicts, they should be given prescriptions. It would end the profit motive and today Mexico might not be in the mess it's in. What our drug consumption did to that country is sinful.

I mean an elderly Greek woman was tasered for holding a knife, because the officer had no idea why she was walking around with a knife, and why she didn't respond when he told her to drop it. The cops just thought it was out of the ordinary seeing a black man picking up trash and were extremely suspicious.




In progressive cities like San Francisco they hire people to pick up the poop on the sidewalks.

 

No cop driving though a street would by heart know if any person lives in the house it's in they all could be perpetrators.... but these 8 cops picked came with their guns out for this black guy. #whiteprivilege
