We have a Second Amendment and should have no security problems in our free States; muster the militia until that happens.

I depends, if you live in New York city, for example, it has a greater population than Norway, and many people do not have a driver's license either, and most take public transportation, and they live by the sea. ;)

As an aside, for an update to an earlier post of mine. Norway has about 15,000 illegal aliens, and New York city has about 500,000 undocumented immigrants.

Trying to compare Norway to the US, and assume all is equal between them, is just silly. They are two completely different places with different populations, laws, governments, and what works in one place does not mean it can work in the other.

Only a silly would suggest that all is equal between Norway and US, which is what someone did, not me.

What I said was that why the USA cannot do what Norway does. We are sixty times larger and have 120 times the resources.

    Why not?

Because we're not allowed to kick out all the dark, uneducated and poor people....or not let them in, in the first place. That's like racist n' stuff. We can be just like them if you prefer. Just have to sign some racist laws.

Thanks for providing authentic perspective. Scandinavian nations are advanced well beyond what has been possible here. Thanks Republicans. Actually I am grateful to live in a state where Republicans have no influence. For example: public transport in LA returned to an expanding light rail/ subway system that Republicans warned against as a waste of money. You just finally ignore ignorance. My great-grandmother migrated to California from Finland.

While that may be true - look at Venezuela - even with Petro Dollars the country is a wreck. The point here is that given two nations that have petro dollar as a good part of their economy - both with socialist policies - One works and the other does not.

It is then fallacy to blame only the socialist policy as the sole basis for Venezuela's descent into hell.

The difference is easy. Norway's population is essentially stagnant. Venezuela's is entirely socialist Norway's is not.

Greatness begins from within. We need to educate our hordes of angry, uneducated deplorables if we're to be great again.

Promote the general welfare is obviously not a reference to the welfare state we currently have but to doing things that promote everyone's welfare like roads and bridges and the like. It has nothing what ever to do with taking A's money and or property and giving it to B.

I can't make much sense out of this post. What does being "stagnant" have to do with anything. I would grant that Venezuela has gone down a more totalitarian path .. which is not "Socialist" by definition.

Nonsense, Pred. The US did that with the trash of Ireland from the 1840s to 1870s, they were uplifted, and America prospered because of it. That is what will happen now if we permit it. If you don't like it, move to Ireland.

The welfare clause includes promoting everyone, and that means social programs if we want it to.

You mean indoctrinate right? That's what happens at most colleges these days or we see a hell of a lot less support for ignorant crap of the sort propounded by Ocassio Cortez et al.

Not in the parlance of the day. And yes I realize leftist twits would just as soon destroy this country in toto rather have anyone have a cent more than anyone else. And I am damn glad I'll be dead long before you all can make it happen.

Stagnant means Birth plus immigration is roughly equal to the number dying each year. Sorry dude Socialism is by its very nature totalitarian and always has been. When the government owns the means of production then no one can have any more of anything than the government permits which is by definition totalitarian.

You should probably try attending a college before attempting to criticize it.

One of the wealthiest most successful men I know was 100% illiterate until he was almost 60 years old and basically retired. And yes he has broad knowledge of politics.

Having known many highly educated people as well as men and women like I described above, I’ve developed a loathing for elitism almost matching my loathing for racism. And yes, I’ve seen the insides of a couple colleges/universities.

What else we could learn from Norway's 2018 budget?

    https://www.statsbudsjettet.no/Upload/Statsbudsjett_2018/dokumenter/pdf/budget_2018.pdf

…...huuuum, I see they have a National maternity/paternity/adoption pay program

    Cost; 21.2 billion NOK

    Per capita; 21.2 billion NOK/Population 5,295,629 = 4,004 NOK

    Per capita USD; $469

    If Uncle Same were to implement same social program;

    Total cost; $469 X326 million = $153 billion

NOTE: Apparently, Bernie Sander's maternity/paternity proposal would cost for less than ONE tall brewed Starbucks coffee ($1.85) per week/per worker, and an average full time working woman earning the median weekly wage would receive a total of $5,514.48 if she took the full 12 weeks of paid leave.

    Annual cost; Total employed; 157 million X $1.85 X 52 weeks = $15.1 billion

QUESTION; Why Norway's maternity/paternity social program is 10 times more expensive than Sanders' proposal?

ANSWER; Because In Norway, parents are entitled to 46 weeks paid leave at FULL SALARY, or 56 weeks at 80 percent salary, and the OP is suggesting we should be AT PAR with Norway's social programs/standard of living.

Thus, if not Sanders, which presidential candidate has pledged to implement Norway's maternity/paternity plan?

Next; Norway's Child Care Benefit VERSUS Uncle Sam's refundable Child Care Credit.

nopartisanbull makes assertions but cannot defend that in fact that such a society cannot be done in the US.

That's not advanced, that's oppressive. Light rail/subway in an area with a lot of tectonic activity is indeed a waste of money and dangerous into the bargain.
