    How much ERGONOMIC does a person need to sit in wheel chair and greet customers? Seems to me there is any number of ERGONOMIC keyboards out there to accommodate labor that could simply enter data, collect data and even take orders from the comfort of their lil caves! But as mentioned in the OP people are content to complain and beg when they could easily fill many jobs to match their capabilities!

    It's amazing that liberals actually believe that people will work. There are a lot of jobs that we need people to do that aren't very enjoyable. How do they plan on making people do those jobs? There will be even more video game addicts!!!

    It is amazing that extremist rightwingers believe that liberals WON'T work?

    It is LIBERALS who are willing to teach children for low wages.

    It is LIBERALS who are willing to VOLUNTEER in soup kitchens for NO WAGES at all.

    Why are extremist rightwingers completely ADDICTED to DISINFORMATION?

    If you go back to the OP, the question was why would anyone try to better themselves if they get everything for free. Certainly, there are the types of folks you suggest, but the OP suggests that everyone is like that - and I disagree.

    So you are saying the "Not all" are looking for less work time? We all work to secure a day we no long have to. But unfortunately there is a growing culture of people that want that before they have ever contributed to society and thing they should be entitled to it. Those are the misfits I'm mentioning..

    Progressivism died in 1920. Capitalism bailed us out. Freewheeling unregulated stock markets crashed in 1929. Hoover, one confused MFer, decided the way to save the country was to tax us out of the crash. FDR doubled down by raising taxes to the point that a market crash turned into the Great Depression. He pulled us out of the Great Depression by provoking Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, giving him the excuse he needed to start a job creating world war. To Be Continued.

    I didn't realize that political affiliation determined one's ambition. And your point loses validity when you research and find - as just one example - in Kentucky, the most conservative counties receive the most government assistance.

    That's some kind of revisionist history you got going there ... the nation's GDP dropped 15% between 1929 and 1932 - BEFORE FDR was elected. How you got that FDR was responsible for the Great Depression is beyond anyone with a working brain.

    Socialists need to practice what they preach. There is access to socialism and capitalism. Nobody is forcefully denying anybody all the socialism mixed with whatever they want.

    I cannot understand what is wrong with people who think the way you do.

    Why are we all working so hard?

    Back in the 1950's...usually only one person in the household worked...most often the father. On average he worked a bit more than 40 hours a week....5 days a week. What he earned provided the family with food, clothing, shelter, medical care, education...and transportation, communication, dinner out once in a while, a yearly vacation...a ball game...maybe some bowling. And savings were put aside for retirement.

    We now have BILLIONS of willing, mechanical slaves to do most of the work that they were doing...and now both parents often work...one often working two jobs...and not earning enough to get by.

    The situation is INSANE.

    If everyone absolutely, positively MUST work...even if it means lost production because the lazy and incompetent are forced to work...

    ...then the work day should be two hours long...and the work week...three days.

    AT MAX.

    What is going on is insanity...and the American right is leading the insanity charge.

    there is no unemployment under capitalism, only underpayment. it is a reason for a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage, to increase labor force participation.
