Trump Plans to Withdraw thousands of U.S. Troops From Germany, a Key NATO Ally

Shows again how dumb Trump is and how incapable his entire stuff. So because chancellor Merkel openly dismissed to come to his G7 meeting, because Corona and how badly planned Trumps meeting is, he believes he hurts Germany / Merkel by pulling out american troops.

All the while in polls 80% of Germans want the americans out completly and Merkels coalition partner SPD stands for kicking out US troops completly.

So Trump does exactly what Germans want and believes this to be punishment? All the while Trump gives up US most important oversea base Ramstein, where they invested billions in equipment.

No satire could make this up.

He intended this as punishment, because Germany doesnt do as He wants. They say he was furious that Merkel stopped his G7 bullshit meeting. He is furious that Germany doesnt stop Nordstream 2, that Germany doesnt buy F35 . They say his decission was made after a phonecall with Merkel, where she let him run.against a wall.

 

Well let's face it - he needs them to come home so he can use them against his own people! The prison in Texas from which he recruited guards is experiencing COVID amongst the guards...so that source might dry up.

 

Trump run on a campaign of pulling our forces out of countries we don't need to be in. We did more than our fair share of nation building in the E.U. and they are in a position to stand on their own two feet and defend themselves against common enemies. Our forefathers warned us against getting involved in such follies. It is time to pull out and concentrate on our own nation building. As an advanced civilization we have a terrible infrastructure problem in America. Let the generals and war-hawks scream and shout all they want. It is time for domestic priorities over foreign war priorities. I'll miss the yagger-snitzel but not much else.

Germany, France, Spain, Italy and UK are the foundation of western nations.

That said it is simply bizarre.

The american self image is that they are loved in the world and it is a priviledge that american troops are "defending" allies. Trump in his own delussion said Germany is priviledged to house american troops but doesnt pay fair share bla bla

Merkel snubbed Trump heavily and openly said she has zero trust in him.

Trump planned this to punish Germany, yet people here are so happy about it.

Parliament speaker Bartsch said: That are wonderful news and it has the positive side effect, that Germany aves 60 billion €, because we dont need to order the F16 anymore."

What Bartsch means is the fighter jet deal. Germany want renew its entire fleet, which is hundreds of fighter jets. Germany opted for its own Eurofighter, but because NATO also agreed to buy several dozen new F-16, because those need no new certification to carry american nuclear weapons. Since Trump removes the american troops, the need for the F-16 may break away and thus we can switch completly on domestic jets.

The psychological effect will be interesting. As i said before USA defined itself as "defender". How often can you read in this forum, USA did this and that for Germany...

Thats exactly how Trump sees it. He planned this as punishment for what he sees as disloyality. He totally miscalculated the way things are in Germany and as usual it backfires.

What was intended to damage Merkels reputation in Germany gives her a new high. People here now say thats not enough. Merkel should press to get rid of americans completly.

I hope no american soldier runs amok though. Most american military staff is from very low education and has low background. Their military "honor" is only thing they have. In their propagnda and selfimage they were here to "protect" Germany. To see now how Germans are happy that they leave could have some impact on them, since it shatters their image.

Your entire argument hinges on this - and its not true. Like I said. Germany is largely irrelevant to America, you can take care of yourselves and if you want to import millions of refugees into the EU, destroy your culture, and bail out half the continent with your money than we simply don't care. I think maybe 30 years ago we would have cared, but times have changed.

 

Trump needs the troops in DC.

 

Or on our Southern Border.

 

It's not complicated. Just get American troops the hell out and bring them back to American soil.

 

Germany blocked immigration in 2017. Meanwhile USA is still flooded by 3rd worlders. We find this odd. BUt it is your country not ours.

As for irrelevant, Germany is the 2nd most powerful nation in the western club. With the loss of Germany, you lose your influence in Europe completly. Its another step of your growing irrelevance.

Good! It's time we pulled our troops from all countries and start bringing them back home. We need them to protect our own streets and the American people from the anarchists that are destroying our country.

This doesn't mean it's not well deserved considering what we've done to Libya, Syria and Iraq. There is an irony though, in that the very people that led us into destroying them, are the same ones who are gaining the most from our own destruction.
