we will just have to agree to disagree..

there are a few states that have open range ranching...idaho, nevada are 2 that come to mind

but most states require cattle be fenced

yes grass fed cattle have become popular but most are raised in a fenced pasture

grass fed cattle does not equal open range cattle

just like free range chickens are still factory raised chickens ..

I don't disagree, this was all about $$$, would a person spend more $$$ for a once every ten year cold spree, probably not and many in Texas choose not too

this has nothing to do with wind power or gas per say, it has to do with people making money not wanting to make less money

That has nothing to do with why it was created. But it does sound like the kind of rationalization someone invents when they want to defend something that has no real obvious economic advantage.

And that is the part of the equation the leftist never grasp. Oh just have a full blown fossils fuel plant sitting there idle until the renewable fails and just turn it on. Not just from the ludicrous "just flip a switch" but that they COST MONEY, a HUGE amount of money justbto build and when you build a HUGE plant at that HUGE cost it has to be making you money in order to pay the interest on the bonds and loans and a return to the investors let alone the operating expenses and LABOR on a daily basis. Does a car plant build a huge manufacturing plant that they may run at 10% capacity for just incase a line goes down somewhere else? They never want to factor in the cost of that backup.

And yet wind turbines are providing electricity in the Arctic where temperatures are at minus 22 F

I don't have a dog in the economics fight, but I participated in federal Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) exercises. The independent Texas grid featured prominently in that.

Don't confuse OPEN RANGE with states that fence in there ranges... We have much of our secondary roads and those ranges fenced, but they are still open range so to speak..

See what I mean, it's quite complicated ;)

Yes. They can be weatherized. Those in Texas were not.

Texans should have seen it coming. After all, this isn’t the first time that the Texas grid has collapsed in the face of a historically bad winter.

In fact this is the third or fourth time it has done so in the last thirty years.

Most did, which is why its being handled pretty well. Gas heating is great.

Dems though, they definitely didnt see this coming. Not shocking tbh.

    I’m sure.

But again, it had nothing at all to do with its reason for existence. It exists because Texas didn’t want their electric power to be federally regulated. Those decisions made in the 1930’s and reaffirmed in the 1970’s, long before cyber security was even a word.

    It is?

    Wow!

The Trump crowd goes on an instant pivot from blaming the crisis on alternative energy (renewables bad) to praising how well the situation is being handled!!!!!

What an amazing pivot! Not that it’s actually true.

Nope and have a detector close by that has never gone off. Burn good fuel and no problem.

COOP planning in the modern sense had its origins in the Truman administration. I don't care at all about the original motive; what I can say from personal experience is that it came to be viewed as a national security plus.

    How so?

“Liberals” want a modernized DC electrical grid. The right wingers don’t care, and aren’t going to bother learning about such things. They had their flat earth rant about windmills and they’re going to cling to it.

Wind power hans nothing to do with this current crisis.

Right wingers have been running Texas for quite some time, don't blame it on liberals.

What you do is swallow the cost of developing renewable energy, so that by the time they need it its the cheaper option.
Its already happening all around you.

The fact you think that is astounding lol. IT shows how little you know on the subject.

Actually its not astounding at all.

    Dems never saw this coming.

    one thing is for sure..

you can bet your ass that GENERAC is about to be opening new offices in Texas..

maybe some of those laid off pipeline workers can install backup home generators

mine is hooked up to my propane tank...I only lose power long enough for it to start up

A broader picture is that the other 96% of the year they are using electric buses which is a very good thing :D
