First the order has to be verified by the Secretary of State as the legitimate order of the President. Second if the President is insane as Milley is suggesting the 25th Amendment is invoked. Third if Milley was plotting to usurp the legal authority of the Executive Branch, the CIVILIAN control of the military he should be fired, especially if he was indicating to the leader of our enemy he would not follow the legal orders of the President. And some top secret military plan against the Commander in Chief?


He should have resigned in protest if that is how he felt.

 

They didn’t betray the nation, attempt to kill a leader or adheres to our enemies — how does it fit the legal definition of treason?

It's not the exact same scenario but those of us that have been in law enforcement see it constantly. A superior officer is skirting the edge of a cliff and you can't just stand there and let them beat a person to oblivion or possibly kill them. Sometimes, even as a subordinate, you are the only one around with a level head and lives need to be saved. I don’t know if we want to go so far as to hang him, but it’s time for the Senate and House to have a quiet/private conversation as to darkening the lines of command as set forth in the Constitution.

How do we know the Benevolent General wasn’t trying to egg China on into ramming one of our ships to start a localized skirmish, and maybe fire on one of their ships just to make a point as to who is boss.

This is accurate. There are occasions where a supervisor is unable to see things clearly, and is headed the wrong direction. Yeah, it's going to cause a flare up but it's better than the alternative.

Hell, I've disarmed one of my trainees before and locked his pistol in my briefcase until I could get him back to the SO. That reminds me of a sgt we had on nights for a while, he was such a clot they gave him a special op- he was our shifts "anti-crime" unit. He was the only one.
