For some reason the majority of voters in California chose to keep a rich cis-gender white man in the governor’s mansion instead of ushering in a new era by electing that state’s first black governor.

The sad truth is plain for all to see: Racism again raises its ugly head.

Let us reflect on the racisssss ways of this backward state and be better next time. Every governor of California from Peter Barnett in 1849 until Gavin Newsom today has been a cis-gender white man. 152 years of white rule with no end in sight. Shameful.

Just like Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Larry Elder suffered the wrath of racism. Just like President Obama getting criticized for his policies due to racism, Larry Elder doesn’t even get to make policies due to this ugliest of human traits. Just like Vice President Harris being opposed, its qualifications questioned due to racism. It’s time to break the ugly cycle. Yet, sadly, I predict some of our fellow forum members will step up to actually defend the racism that denied a black man his opportunity to lead this most backward of states. It’s time to be better.

It’s no surprise. Look at who they had for potential presidential nominees
A black man and woman, a 0.000000001 % Native American, a gay man who was also a vet and an Asian man. Who did they go with? The old white man.
Time to face the truth. The left only likes blacks when they can control them

They need to be better. California should lead by example by breaking the back of white cis-gender male hegemony. But they chose the status quo. Sad.

I really don't think race or sexuality has anything to do with it, it is more that CA will continue to stick with democratic leaders which are going more and more radical in CA. The day a republican gets elected, CA may have a chance at reach change.

The DP has always been the party of systemic institutional racism in America. It is the foundation of the party's political model.

"The result has been that their educational opportunities have been curtailed rather than expand. Their right to work has been admitted but slowly and grudgingly among all but the lowest and worst paid occupations. And their right to accumulate property in cities is threatened today with serious curtailment." EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT, The Essential Writings of W.E.B. Du Bois, Randall Hansen Publishing Group, East Brunswick NJ, 2014. p.139.

The RP has, for the most part, been passive and indifferent to the racism of the DP establishment.

The RP will have to offer voters a deal to good to refuse to win elections. CA just proved that Republican politicians are not desperate to do that. It may already be too late for them.

This OP is the best candidate I've seen so far to receive the "Most Stupid Post of The Year" award.

Here we have someone telling us that Larry Elder should have been elected merely for the reason that he is black!

This is nothing less than an insult to the numerous intelligent and competent black people who occupy public offices all over the USA!

Or, is Mr "Bow To The Robots" a very subtle "tongue in cheek" humorist?

Until the election of Donald Trump the RP had not given black Americans a good reason to support Republicans since Reconstruction.

"The new Emerson poll puts Trump at 35 percent with black voters and 38 percent with Hispanics. “If you add in Asian voters at 28 percent approval,” notes Emerson’s director of polling Spencer Kimball, “our number is very close to the new Marist poll,” which finds Trump’s approval at 33 percent among non-white voters. A recent RasmussenReports poll has Trump support among black voters at 34 percent, and even the new CNN poll has Trump’s approval among non-white voters at 26 percent.

Why is losing black voters by a two-to-one margin something to shout about? Because if Donald Trump came anywhere close to those numbers on Election Day, he’d likely win a ***50-state sweep***. Minority voters — and black voters in particular — are an absolutely vital part of the Democratic base. And they don’t vote for Republicans, particularly for president."
NEWSDAY, New polls show black support for Trump surging, By Michael Graham, 12/3/19. (*** mine)
    https://www.newsday.com/opinion/commentary/black-voters-donald-trump-support-1.39184208

Black and Latino support for Trump is not transferable to the Republican Party.

The evidence is clear. President Biden even reminded us that white supremacy is the biggest threat facing the republic today. California just served us a reminder of that fact. He and Gavin should spend time reading this book together: https://www.salon.com/2020/07/19/msnbcs-zerlina-maxwell-on-the-end-of-white-politics/

They should probably do it wearing masks, however.

I'm pointing to the fact that the OP is mad that Newsom beat the recall. It is also comedy gold that the OP and those who support him/her believe California's to be racist because they didn't vote for Elder.

    Comedy gold.

Why do you believe it's racist if a black person isn't voted into office? Shouldn't the basis of voting someone into office be based on whether or not you agree with the persons politics and their stance on issues that are important to you?
