I really don't get this aurgument that the US did not lose an engagement:
US Killed in Action : 58,220
US Injured : greater than 100,000 (my guess)
Vietnamese killed : excess of 1M
Vietnamese injured : greater than 1M (my guess)

Both sides lost hugely over a pointless war

Nevertheless, the United States never, I repeat never, lost a combat engagement in Vietnam.

    Cheers,

Perhaps you can define what a combat engagement is?

Both sides lost in the pointless war

Nixon and ford had nothing to do with the decision of congress to cut off funds to the South Vietnamese military

But I agree that the US military was not to blame

    Define "Win" please.

Is winning killing more people, achieving a strategic goal, not losing any people.
Losing less people. Coming home alive. Getting a surrender.

    Define "win".

Taken as a whole you lost every combat engagement. Not a single one, beat your enemy. Charlie is alive and well and running the country you fled from.

    Hint-hint:

For me it looks like ideas of comrade Nguyen Sinh of unified and free Vietnam republic have prevailed over your ambition to take the colony that french have abandoned.

Same as nothing pointless about wanting to live in free country instead of capitalist colony. I remind you - liberation movement of Ho Chi Minh didn't started because of communism, it started because Vietnam at time was a real colony. With repressions, exploitation and abuse included, and with no representation on french parlament that yet dictated it's demands to vietnamese.

You live in somewhat free world right now, a century ago your world was a world of slavery, rightless women, child labor and executions like these:

These AA systems are no more advanced that the ones that shot down your planes in Bosnia. Including your stealth bombers.

70 years ago, they came out with all the same rhetoric. Korea.
20 years ago they came out with all the same rhetoric. Bosnia.

In both these cases, they couldn't have been more wrong.

25 years, ago, I came out with all the same rhetoric as I am now about Iraq, and turned out to be 100% wrong. It was a cakewalk.

    Don't be over confident.

Scott Francis O'Grady (born October 12, 1965) is a former United States Air Force fighter pilot. On June 2, 1995, he was shot down over Bosnia and Herzegovina by an 2K12 Kub mobile SAM launcher and forced to eject from his F-16C into hostile territory. After nearly a week of evading the Serbs he was eventually rescued by Marines. Previously he took part in the Banja Luka incident where he fired upon six enemy aircraft. The 2001 film Behind Enemy Lines is loosely based upon his experiences.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_O'Grady

This anti aircraft system that has shot down F16's before is in use in North Korea too.

On the ground, a Bosnian Serb Army 2K12 Kub surface-to-air missile battery near Mrkonjić Grad was readying to fire its missiles on NATO aircraft. The Serbs had moved the mobile tracked missile battery and laid a trap. They switched on their missile radars sparingly, giving F-16 fighters little warning. Waiting until a plane was directly overhead, where the aircraft's warning and countermeasures would be at their weakest, they fired two missiles. In the cockpit, O'Grady's instruments alerted him that a missile was coming but, because he was flying through an overcast, he could not see it. The first missile exploded between the two aircraft. The second struck the F-16 piloted by O'Grady.[5] His flight lead, Captain Bob Wright, saw O'Grady's plane burst into flames and break in two. Wright did not see a parachute, but O'Grady survived by ejecting from the aircraft.[4]

O'Grady landed among a Bosnian-Serb population, he was briefed it to be unfriendly and, within a minute, he secured a 29-pound survival bag, ran, and hid. Rubbing dirt on his face, he hid face-down as Bosnian-Serb forces came upon his parachute, half a dozen times shooting their rifles only feet from where he was hidden in an effort to flush him out or kill him.
    [5]

This is the flight data from another F-16 cockpit during another shoot down over Bosnia in 1999. Pilot Lt. Col. David Goldfein is recovered safely.

It's very harrowing to listen to in my opinion.

The fear here, is not just that their AA systems can kill your planes. it is that you won't have numerical superiority.
If NK has 20,000 SAM sites, they won't bother turning off their radars at all.
They will leave them all on all the time and if you launch a HARM at any one of these, many more will be fired back at you.
Overwhelming firepower. Missiles are cheaper than planes.
All he needs to counter your tactic, is more AA missiles than you have bombers.

It's a wild card. We don't know how many SAMS Kim has and 20,000 could be a reasonable number for all I know.
But really how many do you need? How many planes does the US have?

Every war can be avoided if people would seek cooperation and agreements, and listen to each other. Regretfully we constantly appoint people who will talk for us, make decidions for us, and for whose decidions we will be paying with our suffering.

"Those who disagree - are liars, traitors and sodomites."

It does not matters what government does and WHAT do politicians - as long as YOUR PARTY wins, right? Stability and security matter - the rest can be sacrificed.

We can either start controlling governments, or we can continue doing what we do - vote for slogans and parties instead of people, persuade ourselves to agree with them and die when comes time of yet another war - because people do not worth as much as raw oil or military equipment.

China has said it will defend N. Korea if the U. S. strikes pre-emptively, but it will not support N. Korea if IT attacks first. Unlike the bombast by both Kim and Trump, China's is a credible threat, and both Trump and Kim should (and probably will) heed it.

As much as we'd all like to take nukes out of the hands of N. Korea, the only viable thing to do is to accept the status quo. It's Mutually Assured Destruction: the sequel. It's why countries that don't like us want nukes.

Which is either sign of Trump being unfit for job, or current republican members of congress being unfit for job. Both got elected by your people. But at least republicans won the elections.

Same with democrats - who cares if Trump or republicans in congress are competent and capable of representing people of country - if they are from the OTHER politparty.

That is - while elected government supposed to represent interests of ALL citizens, not only ones following once specific party - in which sace the party they are from does not matters. At all.

What matters - their decidions, actions and propositions in the parlament or on any other position they reside.

You could. If you know language, mean no harm and, for example, use means of communication that do not include direct risk of gunfire.

And if you speak of Vietkong as of organisation - according to Wikipedia they have established constant contact with North Vietnam at least by 1958 which allowed them to coordinate their actions with NV army. Could've been talked to vie North Vietnam in that case.

Point is - if one can't find way to talk - they apparently don't try hard enough. Nobody said that diplomacy is easy.

I have been attacking the republican leaders in congress along with a few others who talk like small government conservatives to get elected and then vote like moderates when they get to congress

Some people you can't get along with.
They just won't allow you too.

Their AA is not at all impressive but they do have numbers. And we will have to operate within a roughly 50 mile corridor to take out the offensive weapons protected by the AA. However, I suggest you understand better the nature of how we attack radar controlled units since it appears you have little understanding how it works. They can't leave on their radar as each would just be an inviting beacon to attack. They must decide to turn it on and off strategically and hope we don't have an asset there to defeat it once it comes on. Once on it will be remembered by position for attack even when on and off. Those that are hardened will be more difficult and likely some will require bomber ordinance, specials, or missiles to defeat.

Planes have their own jamming as well. You keep going back to 50 years ago which is foolish. If you talk about the Indy 500 today you don't talk about the cars 50 years ago. Everything has changed even airframes and capabilities but mostly avionics and missile technology. The Wild Weasel today is a different plane with much different capabilities. The munitions including guided ones are much different. We have look down capabilities from space that see in real time once positioned which of course they likely already are.

If you're going to talk about defeating AA then get into the present world of capabilities and out of one 50 years ago when computers and cellphones were futuristic.

No, I want you to attack my radar.
If you don't come to attack me, I can't shoot you.
    I'll leave it on.
Ground missiles are bigger than plane missiles, I out range you.
    Come get me.

From a position of air superiority that is a great tactic. But you need air superiority and if I fill your 50 mile corridor with SAMS, you won't have it.
    SAM Alley.

I haven't gone back 50 years, I'm going back to your previous air campaigns.
The rhetoric given before all of them.. (the enemy is all old men and children routine). and the comparative results of those campaigns in the light of those comments.

You gave example current day weapons systems and I have shown how other current systems have beaten those same planes already. Systems you can expect to face in this theatre.

What about Korea, does Korea have jamming too?
I bet it does. And decoys.
They do something you guys don't do, LASERS. Never heard of that before.

When I am out gunned I fight sneaky. When I out gun you, I fight in the open. Because that is where I can see you best. where I can get most guns firing on you at the same time.
What is unknown in the skies of North Korea, is who out guns who.

    You assume it is yourself.
And I advise you that this is not strongly guaranteed. It is plausible, but anything but guarenteed.
In your mind, your air force is unbeatable. it is obvious to you that it will always win. And easily due to it's technical superiority.
And I see nothing that convinces me your airforce has it. it may well, but it may not. I'll know more after.

The difference between you and North Korea is, they've seen what you've got and they know most of your tactics.
The same isn't true in reverse.

I think it's a tough nut to plan for. A big bone to chew on.

The munitions used in Bosnia were guided. I don't think you have a new HARM missile since those days. I don't think you have new jamming systems. because you haven't fought a contested air war since so you haven't replaced many of your planes and avionics because your country is skint. And you had no pressing need to do so.

Your air war begins with a massed drone strike. Massed because you need to overwhelm potentially massive AA systems before you can get any intelligence and drones because the risk to your pilots of flying blind into SAM alley is immense.
    That's what I'd do.

But I'd change the frequency and command codes of all your drones daily. Iran is NK's military buddy. They can JAM and hack you. Your drones are not secret weapons any more.

We will be sending you a carrier full of drones. (After you have sunk 50 subs).

So you've got your work cut out for you. I think 10-30 years of war.
