No ... not impossible, but more "very difficult and time consuming"!

    Maybe? Who knows?

Okay. The UK is invaded sometime in the future by a force much stronger than its own. Who joins them in order to destroy the enemy?

And once again the question is who is going to invade? Who has the capability?

Sorry mate ... the UK had the right to start Article 5 due to NATO treaty ... but the UK didn't do. But we can argue of course why they didn't ... ;-)

Anyway ... the UK got as much as help from NATO in indirect way as possible. Several UK duties within NATO were temporarly taken over by the US and others, so the Brits had the troops and ships to travel South. Also ... you know that the US gave all the Sidewinder AA missilies for the Harriers and made the British Sea Harriers be able to shot them? Aside this, the Brits got all satelite reconaissance they asked for about Falklands.
It was a difficult choice for the US, becuase UK and Argentina were both colse allies since a very long time for them... but the US decided for the UK.

No, the US decided to stay neutral and France continued selling missile to Argentina. But I'm being fairly pedantic here. I favour an European army not NATO which I believe is now obsolete and used by the US to subsidise their worldwide ambitions..

Mate ... you and me agree in many things as in those here too about European Army :)

The Falklands War is something that I have been working on intensively for many years.
The British Harrier Sidewinder could only use thanks to the help of the United States, because since 1979 BAE worked together with Mac Donald Douglas for the Harrier II ... the Harrier I set up in the Falklands could normally not do that, but suddenly could! ;-)
Surely, the US has officially kept out of the war ... aside the US diplomacy marathon before to prevent the war yet. At some point, however, the US realized that Margret Thatcher wants to have the "gouchos" off the island, no matter how and anything else as that is not an option for her!
So the US had to decide and secretly supported the British, but officially stood neutral here ... sometimes apart from the temporary takeover of NATO tasks of the British, but also other NATO members helped as well.

On the other hand ...there are rumors and I emphasize not yet fuilly proven "rumors" ... that the US (Weinberger) was willing to hand over the USS Guam (LPH - 8 ) to the Royal Navy, Why?
By austerity measures, the Royal Navy had lost considerable amphibious fighting power because many older ships were retired without new replacement vessels. As it turned out later, the whole landing in San Carlos Bay was a very improvised thing that did not go really well. Weinberger knew that ... and not only a few experts also say that this "castration" of British capacities only gave the final green light to the Argentines ... because they thought the British could not react in the way as they did due to insufficient amphibious capacity.

That's because US intervention was unnecessary.

What does that have to do with how the US uses NATO to subsidise its "worldwide ambition?"

No still no imaginary country, you asked me to use my imagination, I did and yet again when I did not give an answer you liked you demanded another and now are trying to suggest I must come up with an imaginary country for your imaginary scenario of your imaginary invasion of the UK, it does not get much funnier than this!
    So how about the Vatican?
