There is more to "education" than attending formal education institutions.

 

You realize that New Mexico is a pretty blue state, right? It does have a large Red area but that is also the least populated area that also has the best schools. Rural areas are probably always going to the the least educated. Not too much call for PhD farmers. After California votes for people like Maxine Waters over and over and Georgia with Hank Johnson, I'm not sure who has room to talk about being smart. Of course the Right didn't elect the current idiot in chief that doesn't even know where he is half the time. But at least you have Fauci to tell us how to follow the science and then put on 3 masks.

 

Of course, but there is no empirical data to assess informal education. There is a correspondence between attaining a formal education and quality of life - wealth, longevity, political preference, etc..

Yes, the Republican orientation of less-educated states is by no means inclusive, merely the dominant trend:

That tells me that the education system is doing a good job of teaching kids that socialism is good. I don't really think that's a good thing.

Medical science, climatology, and other academic disciplines are frequently attacked by ideologues when the empirical findings of the former conflict with the dogma of the latter.

 

That is true. It is also true that many academic ideologues don't understand how the real world works. I have nothing against science nor higher education. I have a masters in physics myself. I've also worked with plenty of PhDs that are very very book smart and complete idiots in real life experiences. The left is just as bad as the right when it comes to ignoring science. The mask mandates are a prime example. Just like everything else in the world, there is a balance that is needed. I don't put down the intelligence of anyone based on their education. I've worked with too many people way smarter than me with way less education and also worked with people with way more education and way less smarts.

 

If you go to a forum for professional scientists and ask them, that's not what they'll tell you.

 

I am one so why would I care?

 

Because the opinion of 1000 scientists counts more than the opinion of 1. Also, you can talk to specialists in various fields, along with people better qualified than you in general.

Whatever one might see as the benefit or detriment of higher education, surveys confirm that the better-educated have been increasingly voting Democratic and the less-educated voting Republican.

Thomas Jefferson insisted that the cornerstone of our democracy rests on the foundation of an educated electorate.

 

With predominately liberal colleges and universities, why would that surprise anyone? As people age, they tend towards conservative. Older and wiser.

A study was performed in 2012. That study showed that republicans were better informed on current events than democrats.

 

"Educated" doesn't necessarily mean that the person has a degree. They may have simply studied the subject. I'm sure that the study also confirmed that younger people vote Democrat in higher numbers. Does that mean that young people are wiser or that they are simply more stary-eyed and ready to change the world. Then they start paying taxes and get a 2nd education.

 

You can impose whatever notions suit your fancy on a better-educated, younger electorate. Succeeding generations have always driven progress in America.
