Couldn't run a background check anyway. No power. SO do what needs to be done to protect yourself and family and loot some 60" TV sets...
It’s amusing because it’s true. They’ll feel right at home if the **** hit the fan. If CA gets destroyed all the roaches will just spread to the neighboring states. The rich will pick and choose. Probably get a bunch in FL.
A president (federal government like FEMA) can't intervene in a disaster in a state until the Governor of that stater requests help from the federal government. Remember Hurricane Katrina when the Governor of Louisiana (D) doggled and didn't make that phone call to President G.H. Bush. Remember during the 1992 L.A. riots in L.A. when the Democrats who ran L.A. failed as L.A. burned how fast Gov. Pete Wilson (R) called President G.H. Bush requesting federal troops to intervene and bring the animals under control and stop the looting and arson.
And they will have no choice but to take their chances in the states that do not observe or otherwise honor the sanctuary approach to illegal aliens, and where the public is armed, and is allowed to shoot back in response to crime.
There's no longer any gun stores with in the Los Angeles city limits. The Democrats forced everyone of them to go out of business or to relocate to the OC or IE. The closest gun store where a liberal who lives on the west side of L.A can go to is in Culver City. Then as we saw during the 92 L.A. riots when the liberal elitist on the West Side wanted to purchase a gun they were outraged that after purchasing that pop gun they had to wait 10 days before taking that gun home and asked who passed such a stupid law ?
Yeah, my wife and I are about to load the clips. We just bought our first set of guns a few months ago - I'm hoping we don't need to use 'em. We'll try, thanks. Someone posted on FB that the local Wal-Marts have been cleared out on water. We've got some here already - people are concerned.
Quakes are a good reminder of the importance of rescue tools. Halligan tool, axe, saws may be useful, and of course anything needed to shut off gas hookups. Don't forget eye protection and heavy gloves. https://www.fireengineering.com/art...3/features/back-to-basics-uses-for-irons.html
There were over 20,000 high power rifles looted by black gang bangers during the 92 riots in L.A. Very few if those rifles were ever recovered. Guess who still is in possession of those guns ? The Crips and Bloods. But the weapon of choice by black thugs like the Crips and Bloods is the AK not the AR. An AK like the AK-47 only requires an IQ of your average shoe size to operate. You don't even need to own a cleaning rod. The AK is also the weapon of choice of lefties. Remember Chinagate ? The Clinton administration and the Democratic National Committee allowed the Chinese government to import 400,000 Chi-Com AK-47 into America in exchange for illegal campaign contributions to the DNC.
Mexicans have a hardon for chrome and nickel plated guns. It's so macho so they claim. The truth is both the black gang bangers, Mexican gang bangers and the drug cartels weapon if choice is the AK not the AR that liberals are scared of. The High Desert Regional Gang Team arrest a man with an AK47 during a traffic stop https://local.nixle.com/alert/6032961/ https://twitter.com/VictorvillePD/status/880795725273214976
Earthquakes are why I chose NM to relocate to - no earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, blizzards, or floods. When the big one hits CA it will severely devastate huge areas.
My pool was fun to jump in during the Earthquake. Also... my dog (Yellow Lab / Akita) freaked the hell out and would not listen. My cat... gave no ****s.
The "Big One" is a fantasy. One of my staff is a Geologist. She is a professor (on the side) at Cal State Fullerton as well. I have be afforded solid information on Earthquakes from her over the decade we have worked together. There is no "Big One" for California. We can't have over an 8, which is a monster, here in California because we don't have big subduction (vertical slips) like Alaska, Japan, etc... most of our big faults are side slips which don't allow for that size of earthquake. What we do have is a bunch of insane Leftists which is worse.
The two homes I lived in when I was in CA were built like tanks. I guess houses in quake zones need to be built that way. The good news is all the homeless people don't need to worry about damage to their homes. My guess is that home owners with damage are going to have to suck it up, but illegals will still be taken care of by the state at the expense of the home owners who have to suck it up.
Where in NM do you live? I’m in Cruces. But youre dead on about there being no natural disasters around here, we just have a few man made ones.
I guess it's time to put up a tent in the back yard. Thankfully, it's summer. Good luck and stay safe.
The Good News is that California has so many faults that they act as shock absorbers to the one having "a fit". Here in the O.C. I only felt the one last night. The 7.1. Similar to @HB Surfer - my cats could not care. I go out into the back yard, a firm believer in standing in an open space. Down the hill I could see my neighbors swimming pool water slosh. Sadly, Wisdom says to just lay flat and don't try leave. Even the old doorway recommendation is no longer recommended. I say, don't listen to "them". http://politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/can-they-be-trusted.513616/ They lie! Oh, and @Steve N Better a home that can "sway" and Not A Tank. Brick homes are not real popular here. They crumble. Moi Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic, regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.
I live in the high desert in LA County about 90 miles from the epicenter. It shook for about 30 seconds pretty good but did not knock anything over. Fortunately, the area at or near the epicenter is sparsely populated and there are very few buildings more than 2 stories tall. That is an area where small earthquakes are more common than rainstorms so I am sure that those folks aren’t too rattled.
True story. Living in San Diego. We had a long pendulum drop eight day school clock. One night we had a happening and the synchronization of the shakes and the movement of the clock's pendulum was such that the clock stopped. I decided not to restart it as it had been quite some time since I last had it cleaned and oiled and I figured 'one of these days' I would get to it but was not in any particular hurry. A few months later we had another earthquake and a few moments later we heard the bong - bong - bong of the clock striking. This time the synchro of the shock started the clock.
I actually just put "buying a tent" on my list of things to do. I already have sleeping bags and plenty of water anyway - I hope!
Well yeah, at least you will be sure the house won't fall over your head, if anything. Good for the nerves.
It seems that many Trump supporters are fearful and whacky alarmists as evidenced by this thread. I was here in ‘71 living in San Fernando when the Sylmar Quake hit. That was a real rocker and did a lot of property damage and killed a few people including an LAPD officer who was on a freeway overpass bridge on his motorcycle when it collapsed. I was 17 years old and worked at Ralph’s market in Pacoima which was about a mile from the epicenter. I went to work the next morning and cleaned up the mess so we could open in a few days. Being a great city with great people we all pitched in and got the city up and running in short order. Same thing in the ‘90s in Northridge. Earthquakes are part of Southern California living. True Angelinos like myself don’t get rattled, we just pick up the pieces and move forward. I remember that after both major events there were people who freaked out and left town but more people came in and filled the gaps. I love LA...
A few years back we had a quake and I found out there had been exactly one casualty, but he was in Mexicali. Turns out he was in one of their old cathedrals, and decided to run out, at which time the church bell fell from the tower directly onto him. Of course that was mexico.
