I can't see democracy working in the middle east, it's to complicated a political/social structure for a people of their emotional intelligence.
It's little wonder why they revert to dictatorships as their cultural maturity requires a strong violent hand to keep some form of civilized behavior.

The idea that a movie or a political cartoon could provoke such violence and anger is not credible among intelligent educated societies.
In the end if people choose to live like animal they can only be expected to be treated as such.

 

You can't expect people who've lived under violent dictatorships for generations to become latte-sipping westerners overnight. They don't deserve freedom? As if these countries were so stable with dictators.

 

LOS ANGELES -- One of the men behind the anti-Muslim film trailer on YouTube that has sparked violent protests at Western embassies across the Middle East, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, was taken in for questioning by federal probation officers early Saturday morning, law enforcement officials said. Mr. Nakoula, 55, was questioned at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's station in Cerritos, where he lives. Federal authorities have identified Mr. Nakoula, a self-described Coptic Christian, as the key figure behind "Innocence of Muslims," a film denigrating Islam and the Prophet Muhammad that ignited mob violence against American embassies across the Middle East. A federal law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Thursday that authorities had connected Mr. Nakoula to a man using the pseudonym Sam Bacile who claimed earlier to be the writer and director of the film. Mr. Nakoula, the former owner of a gas station near his home, apparently used a series of pseudonyms while making and discussing the film, even when dealing with some of the actors, who believed they were making a film called "Desert Warriors." In addition, as part of the bank fraud scheme for which he was convicted in 2010, prosecutors also alleged that Mr. Nakoula possessed at least 15 credit and debit cards in the names of other people, along with at least five identification documents that were not issued lawfully.

It's amazing how the word "truth" is tossed around. The fact is that the entire Muslim (and Christian) religions are founded upon heresay. There is even a question of whether Mohammad married a 9 year old or a 19 year old based upon Muslim teachings and in either case Christians also engaged in child marriages historically.

We can also look at Libya and Egypt where governments were formed that wasn't based upon extremist Sharia Law and even the Muslim Brotherhood has come out in opposition to the violence generated by the movie.

The movie is, from all I've read, exclusively founded on religious intolerance as this OP seems to suggest. Since when to Americans endorse religious intolerance? That is, of course, a rhetorical question for social-conservatives that advocate religious intolerance in the United States.

I'm an athiest and even I object to religious intolerance and hate groups that promote it.

 

There are roughly 1.6 billion Muslims wolrdwide that overwhelmingly oppose the violent reaction to the movie by perhaps a few thousand extremist Muslims. What is appauling is the stereotyping of Muslims based upon an insignificant percentage of extremists.

 

What exactly has the Middle East offered the world? Think about it, what in your daily life has been made better by the Arab civilization?
Did they create the computer you're typing on, did they make a break through in physics. Maybe they are producers and manufacturers, did they make your car or tv?
I can't find a single thing in my life that the Arab world offers. There is one thing of course, but that would be a whole lot more easy to consume if the Arabs weren't in the way and all the means to extract oil and make it useful sits firmly with Western technology.

The Arab menatlity is if you insult me I'll kill you, this isn't a great position to assume when your not the most powerful people on the planet. Fact of the matter is if the sandal was on the other foot the Arab world would tear the West to pieces if we rioted about anti-christian propaganda. Much like a spoilt child who is playing up, the Arabs need a firm slap to understand their place in the world. For a part of the world that offers so little yet causes so many problems, Western patience has to be wearing thin.

This whole fiasco has nothing to do with religion as your comment points out, it's not Islam that is the problem but the mentality of the Arab world.

I don't know if you're aware but adults tend to debate and argue points.
Children call names. You're suggesting that any criticism of a culture is unacceptable because it might mean one culture is somehow better or more valuable than another.
The idea of equality of man is required for society to work, it's needed in legal frame work and to help create social mobility among those capable of creating the opportunities to better themselves.
Socialism in its various forms has failed time and again and yet the capitalist system has created the biggest super power with the greatest wealth of any nation in history,.

So why has Capitalism thrived where socialism has failed?
There is only one reason and it is in the real world people are not equal, we are not born equals and we do not live in a world were we will be treated as equals.
The stronger more capable, the ones who can adapt and change to new situations and problems are the ones who thrive.
You have to accept this as reality, its not important what you want to call this realisation because it is the truth. If 'You can't handle the truth' that's your problem.

You wouldn't expect a child to lambast their parents for doing something they disapproved of, so the West should not expect the Arab world to dictate terms of what is and is not acceptable within their own culture.
The parents have nothing to learn from children.

These people are ANIMALS. Imagine if every time the Christian religion was attacked, Christians from all over fled to NYC to destroy our own buildings, burn trash in the street, kill one another, kill people from other countries....etc. These Arabs have nothing, and the only resemblance of something that they do have....they destroy because someone in another country says something about their religion? I have ZERO sympathy for any of them anymore. They are disgusting people, I don't know who are worse the ones inciting violence or the ones who remain mum. Both guilty in my eyes.

Umm...have you even seen the movie trailer yet? I would expect the CIA/Mossad Connection, with all of their infinite government funding and collective brain power, to come up with a better quality movie than that. It was undoubtedly shot using an iPhone. Heck, it's probable! That godawful Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow movie with 15 seconds of Angelina Jolie was created entirely on an iMac back in 2004.
